just in case for some reason

Re: [ROOT] Insecure Boot Image
Well this is broken till flar gets back to me with a write protect disable module. The kernel itself prevents writing to system. So no root method will work besides flashing a recovery. Can't finish recovery till module is built. HTC likes locking their stuff down now

Sorry about that. I switched servers today and forgot to setup the database. It is all fixed. Just checked myself.

Thanks a ton! Didn't realize the site was yours, gonna try this out right now, thanks again!

if for some reason supersu says su isn't installed, try a root app and see if you get prompted for root access

i have and download the binary from the app , later the app doesnt have root rights

Me and another user (who pm'd me) are having a bit of trouble here. After following the steps SuperSU is reporting that "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. There is a problem!" It does appear to grant permission to other apps (tried su in terminal) but doesn't seem to actually be giving permission, terminal just hangs. Root Checker hangs as well. Any ideas?

Yes. If you have the engineering hBoot.
You can also do it in terminal emulator.
Make sure you have flash_image binary in /system/bin. If not, google it and drop it there. Rename recovery to recovery.img and place in root of sd.
In TE type:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
And that's it!
Edit: if that doesn't work, move the recovery image to /system/bin and, in TE, type:
su
cd /system/bin
./flash_image recovery recovery.img

It looked to be exactly the same as regular CWM recovery as far as menu's are concerned. Zero eye candy or extra features. That's what I saw. Anyone else want to confirm or deny this?

Touch version is same as regular. No eye candy. Like I said on the other clockwork touch thread, I don't care for the eye candy on a recovery. I leave the eye candy for the roms. I love the simplicity of clockwork.
4ext touch recovery is much better.
1. It backs up and restores much faster.
2. It has a battery percentage also

With more features, comes more potential for instability. I prefer stability and reliability over eye candy and useless features.

Run "adb shell /data/local/tacoroot.sh --recovery," hit VolUp+Power at the exclamation mark, then VolUp+VolDown+Power to reboot, then continue the guide with "adb shell /data/local/tacoroot.sh --setup." Let me know if it works.
I never get the red exclamation point. Could the fact that I installed Clockworkmod recovery before rooting have something to do with it?

Ok, fellas. I tried several times with GingerBreak, but to no avail. I then moved on to SuperOneClick and was successful in obtaining superuser privileges. Now onto the next step: flashing kamesh's and antdking's p350 toolkit, and making a Nandroid.

hehe, I couldn't help but do it the old fashioned way. I used the adb shell, although I was unable to get the $ su. I just entered adb shell su. So, now I have my recovery flashed. I immediately made a Nandroid and I am about to check the integrity of: the back up.

Rumrunner

Hey guys I'm on a stock 4.2.2 Verizon htc one and every time I run rumrunner I get a fatal error saying download updated package. Iknow I have downloaded the right one and I have all the prerequisites required idk why it's not working. Also I don't have the unlocked version. Am I screwed for getting new roms and even rooting? As of right now I'm not rooted I'm completely stock. I'd love to be steered in the right direction thanks guys

Rum runner was saying "fatal : please download updated package" but I realized 1) I wasn't using HTC cord that came with phone 2) I didn't have antivirus turned off. I only had firewall turned off (apparently you need both) 3) I was running Soju.exe off of my desktop which was a no go so I extracted rum runner to a folder on my desktop and ran as administrator then I was all set. After I flashed twrp through adb then acquired root and etc etc

I can't, it all worked fine for me so I've not had to do it since. All I can say is follow the guide on the firewater site to the letter...
Taken from http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
Ensure device is booted to android with usb debugging enabled.
USB 2.0 ports are preferred.
You should not be connected using any hubs which may cause connectivity issues
Ensure that lock screen security is disabled on your device.
no passcode lock
no pattern lock
no face lock
Download firewater HERE
Push, Prepare, and Execute firewater:
adb reboot <–important!!!!
adb wait-for-device push firewater /data/local/tmp
adb shell
su
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/firewater
/data/local/tmp/firewater
Agree to the terms and conditions you are prompted with
Allow the exploit to do its work.
Profit
