I have the unlock code given to me by T-Mobile which requires a non TMO sim card to unlock.
The question is can I use the sim card from a friends Verizon S3 to unlock the phone? Once it is unlocked then I will go back to my TMO sim card and TMO S3.
I am going to refer my buddy to this thread for his concern is if it will cause any damage to his Verizon S3 sim card or phone.

It will not change anything on his sim except if you take a picture, or make or recieve a call that is not in his contact list. It should be safe to do for both of you.
Hope this helps.

Yes, you can most likely use that sim to unlock the phone. If not you can look for used at&t micro sims on ebay for like 99 cents, and no it wont damage his sim card, nothing will change, the only thing is you won't be able to make a call from his sim card, because it is just meant for LTE data, he technically doen't need the sim because his phone is cdma (doesnt use a sim card). Hope this helped, good luck!!!! :good:

Didn't I answer this exact question like 2 weeks ago???
This exact question from the same exact person, in fact.
huh? well are you guys gonna help me or what lol a week ago i aint have the code now i do so can you guys help or what?
You do not need an international sim card. You do need a sim card from another carrier. When you put the sim card from another carrier in the phone, it will ask you for a code. Enter the code from tmobile. This will unlock your phone.
Currently, your phone will only work with tmobile network. An unlock phone can be use with any GSM carrier. This is useful when you travel internationally. You can buy a prepaid sim card and use your phone to make calls.
Ok, this is probably a stupid question but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere I look.
I got a SIM Unlock code from TMobile and everywhere I read the only way of entering it is to insert a non-TMO SIM.
I can't find my old AT&T SIM card to do this... So is there any way to get to enter the unlock code either without a SIM card at all or with the current TMO SIM?
I don't want to have to pester my friends to use their SIM cards.
Any ideas?

It has been a while since I did this, but I didn't have to change my SIM card to unlock my phone. It has been several years, and that was an HP phone...
However, maybe you could pick up a cheap one on ebay?

Bribe them maybe? LOL seriously though, you'll need to get your hands on a card from another carrier to make this happen in the TP2, just for a few seconds.
Could you maybe just provide the unlock code you have now to whoever will be using the phone with a different SIM, and let them handle that last step of unlocking?

That person would be me. I just like having it unlocked just in case. Even if I have no intention of switching providers yet.
But seriously, I don't understand why HTC did not implement an option to unlock a phone without physically switching SIM's. Oh well, I guess I will need to do that then.

Did you go over this with T-Mobile customer service? When I got my HP unlocked, there was a sequence I went through that caused the phone to ask me for the unlock code.
I think I just came across it...onslaught86 just posted over in the HD2 forums about a SIMLock app in the windows folder...run that and you should get the same screen you get if you put a different carrier's card in and boot the phone. Full credit def to onslaught...I had no idea such a thing existed

I hope this works, cause I'm in the exact same situation. I used to have an old T-Mobile prepaid SIM that I used just for this purpose, but apparently I've misplaced it. The Tilt 2 is at work, I'll try it first thing tomorrow.
So I'm trying to buy a note 2. I see lots of unlocked on Craigslist, so can those be used on Verizon.? Or do I have to but a special sim card... Just need some enlightenment please.

If the phone is sim unlocked, then it should be fine to be used on any carrier. However, not all carrier allow sim unlocked devices to work with their sim cards as the have blocked sim cards. I am not familiar with Verizon, but at first sight it should work flawlessly. :good:
Okay. Thanks
If anyone else comes across this.. The final answer is that it cannot be activated on vzw
i just switched over from a galaxy s2. i bought the pro off ebay and want to unlock the phone for tmobile. i went to a site to unlock the phone and it stated i needed the original sim card, then another site said i need the sim card from the company i am going to use. the original owner of the phone kept the sim card. can i unlock it with a sim card from tmobile? or am i screwed?
Whats happen when you put non supported sim card in the phone? If the phone ask you for unlock code?i am sure that there is no need to have the original sim card.

You don't need the original SIM card. All you need is the IMEI (Dial *#06# in your phone's dialer), and the carrier that the phone is currently locked to. If you have those two things you should be able to get the phone unlocked to use on T-Mobile, no problem.
Not sure if this is allowed, but I used Master Unlock Code to unlock my OG Pro from AT&T and use the phone with T-Mobile.
Thanks. I bought an unlock code off of ebay and I'm good to go.
Should I immediately insert the SIM card from my locked Verizon S6 into my unlocked S9? Or should I use the new SIM card?
I'm trying to avoid any Verizon bloatware, etc.
I want the best chance of being able to use PDANet.

I used my original Verizon sim card, all the bloatware it gives you is uninstallable
I ordered Unlocked, didn't choose the option to activate during ordering, and it arrived without SIM. I just installed my Verizon S7 SIM before powering on the device the first time and it worked right away. No issues and more importantly, no Verizon bloatware. Nice.
