Hey guys,
I was just wondering if I am supposed to unlock my Xperia S's bootloader before rooting it. Note that my intention is only to root the device and NOT flashing costumed ROM's.
Thanks in advance.

No you don't. You can Root your device without unlocking the Bootloader.
And if I am using bin4ry's methode?

The do unlock for a small fee
To root you don't always need to unlock the bootloader.
If on gb.42 or ics then you can root using the easy root options. If on .65 then you will need to downgrade to .42 then root then ota to latest version.
Unlocking with setools is good and safe and still able to use pcc or seus.

I want to discuss, Which is void Xperia warranty , Only Root, unlock bootloader, or flashing unofficial ?

Unlocking your bootloader is what voids your warranty. Rooting is fine.
And technically, to flash most custom ROMs, you would need to unlock your bootloader except a few stock based ROMs.
Thanks for own info

You will not lose the unlocked bootloader status.
You can not flash new firmware without losing root. Only way is to root again after flashing the firmware.
Thank you!
