[Q] CM10.1 ATT GS3 Features I miss from CM10 - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I decided to upgrade to the CM10.1M build and really like 4.2. Just noticed some functions that I really liked that are missing since the upgrade form CM10. Anyone know if these will come along or if they have been scratched?
1. Click to take a picture while recording a video.
2. Use as mass storage device under Settings--> Storage-->Options
3. Have the headphone jack reset to half volume on unplug.
Sorry if this is in the wrong area, haven't posted here often.
Thanks.

Hi!
Questions should be posted in the AT&T Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section of this forum. If I were you, I would use the "Report this message" function to nicely ask a moderator to move your thread to the corresponding section.

This most probably won't happen, because of how the device interacts with storage/partitions. Such an option might eventually get implemented for external SD card only, as the extSD is on its own partition. You may be interested in EasyUMS, which enables mounting the extSD card as an MSC device.

Technically, this should have went in the cm bug report thread. No need to open a new one. And as for the usb options, it existed previously. It simply has not been implemented on cm10.1 yet.

Thanks, I will install EasyUMS today, its perfect for what I need. And you are correct, it only ever showed the ext card.
Appreciate it.

Thanks, didn't consider any of the missing options bugs. As with he USB, I just assumed they haven't been implemented yet. Not one to complain about an awesome OS that I've been given to for free!
thanks

[Q] SDCard Blank or format

Hello,
Just re-flashed my S3 with a 4.4 ROM - ODIN - from a CM Nightly - 01 JAN 14 - and for some reason the ROM doesn't like the sdcard formatting.
Googl'ing about has not yielded any results, anyone had this issue or something similar?
Thanks,
Aaron
I saw something somewhere (sorry cant recall exactly) person with same/similar question and that a reformat did the job. I want to say they reformated to fat32. (universal catch-all IMO) I just wrestled down the ridiculous root process for the 4.3 upgrade, so formated a couple of sd cards to see what if anything popped up at me. ext2/no (micro and sd10) , ext4/spotty (micro sd/yes, sd10/no) , fat32/yes (micro and sd10)
I just migrated to sprint from verizon so still getting my feet wet with /dev/d2spr. Im no stranger to the bootloader/bypass/bullsh*#, so knox and what they are trying to accomplish with making sprint more enterprise friendly may be some source of further exploration into why changes are here and moving forward.
For we linux-minded / gparted is just a right click and refresh away... hope this helps. just remember to refresh encryption efforts (if applies to you) Some crypts are friendlier to some formats than others. dont want to think something is secured when it isn't ....anymore.

Generally it worked fine , the problem is that i did this with the explicit goal of only fixing the SD writing and storage issues
the phone only has roughly 2 gigs and 80% kitkat soaks up and not that im like app happy or anything but it makes app installation even weaker than an older cheaper phone thus killing a lot of the reason to have this fairly nice phone except for the camera which is fundamentally a non-prime reason to have this phone just a bonus.
So i installed the NextApp SDfix from the app store and applied its fix , and nothing especially changed , i also then installed link2SD

Hi! I saw your other post too. I can't answer your main question, but I can answer two of the others.
1. To have a thread or post of yours deleted, in a browser (not Tapatalk nor XDA app) choose the exclamation point on your post to report your own post to the moderator and then write them to ask that they delete it.
2. The other post in the one-click thread was slightly more appropriate since these are the LG G3 sections and at least that one is the one click method thread, but your main question has nothing to do with either so you should report this thread to have it deleted and create a thread in the Q&A section of the forum for your particular phone. The Link2SD thread might be another appropriate place, but only choose one place.
3. I know it wasn't intentional, but double posting is a definite no no. At minimum of noone responds to one post you should report your post to be deleted and then post the question somewhere else that's still appropriate. If your first post is a new thread, it's fine to reply (no quote) to your post by saying "Bump" in order for the forum to put the post back up to the top where people might notice it again. Bumping shouldn't be done before 48 hours.
Welcome to the forum anyway and I feel your pain, my first Android phone was more like a teaser Android with around 384 MB of ROM and no internal storage. Not politically correct and no offense meant to anyone but I refer to my first Android phone as the retarded little brother of the HTC Droid Incredible. It was the Droid Eris.
Good luck.

Galaxy Note 10.1 2014-Edition (SM-P605) Cyanogenmod13 CM13

Did anyone try this CM13?
It is only listed in CM13-ChangeLogs but not within Cyanogen-Downloads
https://www.cmxlog.com/13/lt03lte/
Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist,
sure you can download the ROM here:
CyanogenMod 13 Download
I will get you thread moved to your device section. There you can discuss this with other users.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
XDA Assist
Meanwhile the Rom seems to be listed in Cyanogemod download section. Some time ago it was not. And nowhere I can find user experiences. Would be great to get feedback. Thanks very much.
I have tried this ROM (cm-13.020160501-NIGHTLY) nothing majorly wrong with it except:
1. I don't have a sim card to test 4g/3g connectivity, so can't test phone/message/GPS functions as well. So these parts are unknown.
2. The quick view drawer (in home screen when you hold from top and swipe down to bring out system/profile/recent notification drawer), it display nothing except basic information like time/date profile head bubble. It will not display ANY notifications even you have new email etc. It always display "No notifications"
3. No lock screen, at all. So you can't preview any information like above. When you press home button it brings up your home screen straight away. If you have pattern lock / pin lock, yes you will have a lock screen normally, however again it will not have any notifications even you have new ones.
4. No USB connection option. On my Oneplus One (bacon) with CM13, when you connect USB cable to the PC, you can choose USB function from "charging" to something like "data transfer" etc. However, on my P605 (lt03lte) it displays nothing (since it can't display any notification). Even after enable USB debugging mode (which is called Android debugging in CM13), enable Debugging notify, changing "Select USB configuration" from "charging" to any other modes, none of above work. This is huge problem for me because this simply means I can't transfer any files from my PC to tablet and the mirco sd card.
5. For some reason all data from my micro sd card are not accessible, or I should say are not naturally supported. When you try to view eg. photos from micro sd card, and open "Gallery" provided, it will shows "0 images/videos available". However, it can be accessed when you go to Settings>Storage & USB>Portable Storage and you will see the micro sd card there. So you can copy files from system storage to micro sd.
6. It takes longer time to boot up compared to my Oneplus One and will have completely black screen (scary long waiting time, estimated about 15 seconds long) when you downloaded and flashed newer ROM. So be patient if you are updating. I experienced that "black screen" every time when I update my ROM or reinstalling through TWRP.
All processes I never experienced any softbrick.
I am not sure if it is just me or everyone is experiencing the same things, like you said, you can't find any reviews online...
Other than above it is an awesome ROM, definitely cleaner compared to stock ROM.
If you wish to update to Marshmallow on your P605, I strongly recommend Schischu's Marshmallow ROM from xda-developers. (Google search: p605 marshmallow) It is very stable for me and seems no faults.
I am currently still sticking with "cm-13.020160501-NIGHTLY" ROM and hoping it will fix above issues when updates,
Feel free to ask me any questions,
Thank you very much for this very detailed review.
Have prepared the SM-P605 yesterday for my father. First impressions where very good. Starting ultra fast.
Unfortunately, a SIM-card has not being tested.
As far as notification are concerned, I have to wait for feedback from father's side.
Update was not tested.
The MM-Rom you mentioned seems not to be a Cyanogenmod, but an AOSP, isn't it? Last time I used AOSP, it could not read exFat formatted microSDXC cards. That was the main reason for me not to use the AOSP-Rom.
Will gather more information within the upcomming weeks. Maybe there are more users who provide useful impression on CM13 ...

No I am using CM13 from official Cyanogenmod Website.
I have also tried AOSP-ROM before I flashed to Cyanogenmod. My micro SD card is actually working in AOSP. I can't remember the actually details but I DO remember it prompt a message to ask me to FORMAT the micro SD card before use. Gladly I have all data in micro SD backup to my PC before flashing AOSP. So in the end I don't lose anything in micro SD. And sorry I can't remember what format my microSDXC before flash to AOSP.
And yes Cyanogenmod rom is ultra fast and clean absolutely no bloatwares, also requires minimum space. After flashed to Cyanogenmod + gapps it only uses up to 600~700mbs in total which is amazing. I will stick to Cyanogenmod and use it for now. By the speed they update hopefully they can come up with a better ROM (finger crossed).

Adoptable storage with CMD prompt help?

I tried following the steps for the S7 to convert my SD card to internal storage, but when I get to the part where I'm supposed to type in "sm partition disk:179,32 private" it doesn't do anything. It just loads up the shell prompt again. I know the S7 and the Galaxy Tab S are different, but I assumed these steps would be the same. I was apparently wrong, or did something wrong. Anyone tried this and got it to work?
ADB Shell > sm list-disks > sm partition disk:179,32 private
Yes I tried it but no luck

Tried with ":" instead ","?
Yeah tried it both ways, no luck
Try with root essential app on play store, there's a specific option to re enable adoptable storage. Try it and report back.
Does not appear to work, does not format external, both internal and external still show as separate, keep wifi on while running or you get advert block notice that freezes the program.
EDIT: It askes you to select external disk, it only shows 1 and size seems wrong far too small, so maybe it formatting the wrong drive?

I don't have yet MM on tab S so I can't try but something is fishy here, pheraps Samsung completely removed the module.
Hello,
I also tried with ADB with no results. I will try to root mine today night, and give you feedback about Root Essentials.

I just installed the latest SuperSU with TWRP and i am now rooted on MM 6.0 NZ.

Are you sure Root Essentials does not work for you? I have been looking for any other option, and there is not. ADB method has been disabled by Samsung for sure, and I was hopeful Root Essential with Root permission would work.
I have used ADB on the ASOP MM and it looks different, it showed one drive when connected to my notebook, when using RE it showed 2 drives, and i installed it twice, though it has setting, auto, internal, external storage, i left it on auto for where downloaded files go, I downloaded a couple of files and they went to the internal storage, why a choose if the internal and internal are now one, seems fake to me, and it was supposed to format my external 128gb micro sd, and it did not do even that.

Can you send a snapshot of Settings/Storage screen. In the web pages where ADB process was explained, it was told that storage information was not accurate, although adoptable storage was working. In my view, if after enable adoptable storage option in Root Essential, there is any change in Settings/Storage info, it will seem to work. Otherwise not.
I remove RE, cats asleep in front of my keyboard so not easy to type at the moment, we need another member to try RE ADB and see if they think it is working, I think ABE should work like RAID in computers, 2 drives in to 1, seemless.

So did I. I installed TWRP and Supersu from the links you provided in another topic. My main reason for looking forward to MM on my Tab S is adaptive storage. 16gb of internal storage is ridiculous. I have a S7 Edge I'm but not using adaptive storage on the S7 yet because 34gb at this point suffices. It's nice to know I have that option with the S7 if needed. I just hope the Dev's find a way to enable it on our tablets.
You can use the Vanilla version of 6.0 MM, there is no TouchWiz but it has Adoptable Storage, I installed it myself and it works, but i like TouchWiz

I wonder what owners of the Tab S2 are doing, do they have an AS fix, and will it work on the S1

I could take or leave TouchWiz, either way is OK. I checked into that version. It appears some people are having issues with it. Maybe now that an official T800 firmware is out the Dev can work out any bugs. I'll pass for now. Thanks
If you have a problem with Google Play crashing, a member has posted an alternative OpenGApps later in the thread, and that one works fine.
Also there an an ASOP Vanilla version of Android 7.0 Nougat, but i think it`s a bit buggy, so i have not tried it, though others says it fine.

Tab S with official MM Rom with custom recovery and Rooted following given instructions!! Thx!! These are the good news. Bad news are that Root Essential seems to do the same thing as ADB procedure but automatically, so it does not work either. We hope Dev's community will find a solution soon. It seems that Samsung was not interested in giving us easily more internal storage, in order to be potential clients of a new Tablet in a future!!! Samsung, do not count on me for sure!!
It's highly likely Samsung have removed the necessary framework for this to even work due to the S7 hack.
I should imagine all future updates for all devices will be the same including the S7.
Unless someone convinces Samsung to reinstate it or is able to patch the rom with the necessities it's just not going to work any more.

I know that's not out of the realm of possibilities, but it just doesn't make sense to me. I totally get that Samsung is worried about receiving support calls from people that don't understand what adoptable storage is and that may have turned it on by mistake. Though turning it on via the shell on its own demonstrates that the user knows exactly what they're doing. Nobody is going to stumble into that. So, what would be the value in blocking that? I sincerely hope that someone finds a workaround.

Transferring an application to a storage card

Hello, use your operating system Lineage OS, please tell me, how can I transfer applications from the phone to the memory card using the root?
You cant always do that it depends on the app sometimes they use things in the root level of the phone so you cant move to sd.

What is it that I do not really understand, that I do not always do? What kind of things does the application use? If anything on the phone installed as root. I tried to break the sd card into two parts and one part I formatted for the applications. second removable. so that it can be used on a computer, but the operating system for some reason formatted them both made one section and now it can not be used on a computer. Tell me please, what can I do, that after the sd card is broken, the system does not format both of them, but leaves the section for reading from the computer?
