Hi all,
I've rooted my new (Telstra/AU) N7105T using Odin & ChainFire's autoroot ala http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933542. I've installed ROM Manager (+premium) & tried to flash CWM (6.0.2.8), but have struck a problem. The root went fine (and works), but when I try to reboot into CWM-recovery, I get the Samsung splash screeen, then the screen does this weird scroll/wipe thing - and it gets stuck at that point. I have to power-on+vol-up to break out of the boot cycle to boot normally.
There's a possibility that I flashed it twice (screen went to sleep, I didn't see a confirmation on the first time, so tried it again). Unsure if that makes a difference though.
Is the problem that CWM isn't supported on this phone yet, or have I screwed something up?
Cheers,
Brettt

Hey Brett,
I also have the N7105T. I tried to flash CWM to the phone earlier today too, and I had the same problem with the flashing screen. The only way I could fix it was to boot the phone into DOWNLOAD mode and use ODIN to flash TWRP recovery.. at least now I have a working recovery again.. I wish it was CWM, but at least TWRP works.
You've probably solved it by now considering you posted 2 months ago, so if you have, let me know how you got around the problem
Pete.

So you probably see these types of threads all the time, but this one is different--
So the phone is a T-Mobile G2, Yes, It is Rooted, and S-OFF.
Long story short, I rooted the phone fine, but I cannot reboot into recovery.
I have the newest CWM flashed. It is version 3.0.0.5. When I try to boot the phone into recovery, it simply gets stuck on the HTC Logo screen. But, it is not bricked, but if I remove the battery, and put it back in, the phone boots and its fine. One more time. The phone is S-OFF and rooted.
The only thing I can do is flash CM 2.5.1.3...... 2.5.1.4+ do not work.
I just want to know WHY its doing this. Its my friends G2 and I have rooted mine the SAME exact way, and its fine. I have tried factory resetting it, but it doesn't work.
PLEASE TELL MY WHY.
EDIT*
I'm trying to do this process in ROM Manager- I also have tried flashing it more than once.

If you can boot up normally, load rom manager (download from market), and go to install alternate recovery, and install any alternate recovery. Then when that is complete, go back and install the Clockwork recovery version you want on top of the alternate.
What happens is SOMETIMES recovery will get messed up while installing, and you'll get exactly that, loop at the HTC screen.
If you cannot reflash an old, then the proper recovery through Rom Manager, you can do it via fastboot with your computer and USB, there are a few guides on the developer forum on how to do that. If you need i can try to dig up the fastboot recovery method guide later... but really, if you can boot up, Rom Manager is your best/easiest bet.
Yeah, I'm trying to do it using ROM Manager. and It still doesnt work. Ive rooted- unrooted and did everything, idk what I'm doing wrong. I tried flashing the new recovery like 4 times, it doesn't work for me. Thanks for the reply!
It had clockwork mod on it, so I downloaded TWRP from their site and flashed it via clockwork mod and now the boot image get's all crazy and flickers and then black screens. I can still get into download mode so I guess it's odin for me. It's the GT-N7100 model. What version of Odin and which image do I use? I'm in the USA using T-Mobile. Thanks.
Use the right one for your phone, N7100. Try flash it with odin. If it still in bootloop, flash cf-auto root through odin, usually it will boot after auto root process done. Hope this help...

I meant what country's firmware, mostly, since I didn't see anything for the U.S and I don't have any info about this phone other than that it's the gt-n7100. Anyway, I got past that bootloop, I used some UK firmware, kinda bootlooping between some o2 splash screen and a samsung logo now. I can get into recovery though.
Ok, I'm not boot looping anymore, just did a factory reset in the stock recovery and it worked.
Now I have another issue - I put my sim in, and it starts up and I have HSPA+. Then it drops to 3g after like 30 seconds, and in the initial setup I can't connect to any services to set up my accounts - it just flat out doesnt work. Then I get into the system after skipping all that and I have no data at all, and when I make phone calls it just hangs at dialing. What do I do? Thanks.
I have been using the i747z ROMs for quite some time and after trying a bunch of other ROMs I always reverted back to theirs. So when their 3.0 version came out with Android 4.3 I installed it, using ClockWorkMod recovery. Right after it installed, CWM displayed a message about the boot loader and to fix it. So I went ahead and did that (Don't really remember what the message was) What I know is that I lost root. Also the phone could not connect to the mobile network, only on Wifi. So this morning, I factory reset the phone again, and attempted to root the phone with Odin with CF-Auto-Root-d2att-d2uc-samsungsghi747 (which I had used when I first rooted the phone). Now the phone doesn't boot past the 2nd samsung logo, it starts out with the Samsung logo with the blue circle around it, then the AT&T Rethink Possible and then the plain white Samsung logo. Also, the LED has a slow blue flicker.
I can get the phone into download mode and I have used Odin to attempt to load the stock firmware and the stock bootloader. But after restarting the phone I can't get past the same screen described above.
I am pretty sure this is not related to the i747z v3.0 ROM but rather something a miss with the order in which things need to start in Android. I have done some reading on that but I am not sure what I need to do to correct this soft brick situation. ( I have googled "soft brick" as well)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

After flashing through odin did you format data?If not try it.
Go into recovery and wipe data.
**SOLVED**
Thanks xXFl4sh, I had tried that.
Solved!
Alright where do I start? How about RTFM Some how I had missed the part about flashing a bootloader and a modem after the ROM. Not recalling having to do that before, I skipped right over it. Once the recovery CWM 6.0.3.1 was finally loaded, getting the flashing the ROM, the bootloader and the modem was easy as usual.
The key was having to use Odin to install a recovery in .tar or .tar.md5 format since I could not access a Recovery Mode on the GS3, as well as a rooted stock image (I used root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3.tar.md5 which is a rooted Android 4.1.1 for AT&T) For the recovery, I couldnt' find a .tar or .tar.md5 for ClockWorkMod (did find a utility to convert it, but didn't want to introduce another variable into the mix) so I used one from Team Win Recovery (v2.6.3.0) and with that I loaded the CWM recovery. Once all of that was in place, I proceed to factory reset, clear data, cache, system and then flash the new ROM, bootloader and modem.
In all of this I learned quite a bit about the whole process and how to narrow down possible resolutions. I still see the "Rom may flash stock recovery on boot" message after flashing either a ROM, bootloader or modem, but just backing out without answering Yes or No seems to work. Also (and this may be related, I don't see the option to restart in recovery from shutdown menu). Don't really know what that's all about for now, and honestly don't want to mess around (at least for a while)
I know the steps are general, but I hope this can help some else if they get their devices in a soft brick situation. As for the i747z v3 ROM with 4.3, I really like it, everything works (Wifi,Blutooth, tethering) and the battery seems good as well.
Thanks!
So, at the risk of posting too much info (instead of not enough) I'm going to start at the beginning:
I rooted my wife's S3 and loaded TWRP and Paranoid Android. It ran fine, but there was a camera issue, so she wanted me to restore it to the stock ROM. I did this (to 4.1, I believe, whatever was out in August). Again, it ran fine and I was planning to restore the root access, but did not.
Later, it was dropped in Hibachi sauce (not sure this is relevant, but in case) and we put it immediately in rice. It worked fine, other than the touch screen intermittently ceasing to receive touch commands.
When the updated ROM came from Samsung, my wife installed the update and the phone continued to work fine, other than the screen issue.
She was tired of the issue and decided to sell it to buy an iPhone (shudder) so she did a factory reset. This is where the issues began (I included the previous steps as I'm not sure which may have caused the current issue).
Upon the factory reset, the phone would only boot to the beginning of the AT&T logo loading. I thought it may be something she could fix through Kies and suggested she try that, so she did. The phone would then boot to a screen in Odin mode that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." We did this and there was no help.
I can get it to boot into recovery (the default one now) and have tried to reflash that and the stock ROM that I did previously and only can get two actions: either the freeze at the AT&T logo (if I use Odin to flash the ROM) or the above message in Odin mode (after trying to fix from Kies).
I'm not sure what to do at this point and would appreciate any and all help you guys can provide. I've lurked around and learned quite a bit to flash my ROM and my wife's from you guys, so I'm really hoping I can learn more from this.
Thanks in advance!

So is it stuck on the AT&T Logo? Or Samsung Logo?

It was the AT&T logo, it's currently the Odin. If I flash it again with the stock ROM, it'll be the AT&T logo again, but it doesn't completely load the AT&T logo. The Samsung one loads and then the AT&T starts to load, but doesn't finish playing.
Anyone?
Yes, Odin to stock unrooted, then go ahead and factory reset by holding volume up + home button on first boot. Done.

If this works (I'll try it when I get home) I will be so grateful! BTW, do you happen to have a decent link to a stock ROM? If not, I'll Google it tonight.
Hi all, hope somebody can rescue me!
I have an N7100. It's been running stock ROM 4.1.2 for ages (rooted). I've rooted and loaded ROMs on a fair few devices over the years, but typically by following step-by-step guides - I'm a noob to all intents and purposes.
Last night I decided to upgrade to 4.4.2.
I did it without performing a wipe first.
Backed up apps and settings using Titanium Backup Pro
Downloaded N7100XXUFNE1 from Sammobile (sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=32635)
Loaded it via Odin 3.9
It worked, in a fashion, maintaining most of my data and apps etc, but I couldn't get wifi to turn on and I kept getting error messages saying '[App X] could not be loaded'
I decided to bite the bullet and do a factory reset (by booting into recovery).
I still couldn't get wifi to work, but my bootloader had stayed at ME3, so I decided to apply the latest bootloader (ND3) as I read somewhere that this could be the issue (I wasn't overly concerned about Knox as the phone is almost 2 years old now anyway).
I applied it via ODIN again, except loading the file into the 'BL' section rather than the 'AP'.
Since doing that, it's stuck at the boot screen 'Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100' and the only way to get out of it is to pull the battery.
I can got into 'Download Mode' but not into 'Recovery Mode'.
I have tried applying MJ5 bootloader.
I have tried reinstalling the whole stock again ROM again
I have tried applying Philz_Touch_6.07.9-n7100 recovery
All show as having completed successfully in Odin, but none of them changed anything - I'm still stuck at the boot screen
Does anybody have any ideas of what else I might try?
Thanks

Have you tried flashing TWRP instead? This happened to me and got stuck on recovery boot, CWM and Philz Touch wonb't load. Flashed TWRP and worked like a charm.
I am having similar problem.
Tried to flash the TWRP Recovery from THIS via Odin.
Still phone isn't going past the Galaxy Note II logo.

It processes OK and Odin says 'Pass!', but then it automatically restarts and gets stuck at the boot screen again. Still can't boot into recovery mode.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just tried that, but unfortunately it just does the same thing ....
Man do this.....
Get older odin (personally my preferance nothing else)
Flash the latest stock rom that u have
It will say pass and the device will go into bootloop
Now remove battery any stick it in (just to stop bootloops)
Enter recovery (that shld be stock now)
And do a factory reset
If no recovery......get a custom one and do it
Then let the phone do its thing:good::good:

If u have any wifi or other issues.....flash the new bootloader. ....with AP not the BL...and done....
Hope this helps......cheers:good:

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried doing just that (although not on an older version of Odin) and it hasn't helped, I can't get into recovery.
I will give flashing the Bootloader a go via the AP rather than BL when I get back from work tonight though. Cheers.

Hi, I do appreciate you're only trying to help but, as explained numerous times in the thread, that's my whole problem.
In summary:
The phone gets stuck on the boot screen
I can't boot into recovery
I can only get into the odin download screen
Flashing a full stock rom doesn't change anything
Flashing Philz, TWRP or CW Recovery doesn't change anything
Reflashing the bootloader doesn't change anything

Just to close this thread off, I've now paid to get the phone sorted at a local shop. Took them a while (think their first level support just tried all the things I'd already done), but their occasional staff member and all round guru managed to get it sorted. I don't know what he did as I didn't get the chance to speak to him. Cost me £30.
