I've been trying to do this forever. I'm trying to use it in Canada, I already know it wont work CDMA but will on GSM/Global. Its S-Offed and I know I will probably need to be on the stock ROM so I got back to stock. I can't pay for the service cause I'm a student and need that 10 bucks. Help please?
Is your phone unlocked?

Yes, I want to know if there's any way to do that myself.
Yes but you gotta pay.

So there's definitely no way to do it on my own? I can only do it by paying someone?
I have a stock verizon incredible 2 that I need to sim unlock for use in Thailand. Is it really true that the only way to sim unlock this phone is to pay for an unlock code?

Yes. Or ask Verizon global services to unlock it if your still with them.

I have never been with Verizon so that choice is out of the question. I guess I need to find the cheapest vendor selling the codes.
Thanks.
Just FYI
As of like a week ago unlocking without the carrier's consent is illegal and you can be sued....... Just saying

Maybe for you Americans by US based carriers.
I didn't buy the phone from Verizon. I don't live in the USA. I don't intend to use the phone on any US carrier. Who will sue me again and what law have I broken?
Also I'm pretty sure the law states that it is for devices purchased after last Saturday. Hopefully there aren't a lot of people buying brand new Dinc2s.
Alright, I guess that's it then. Would anyone be able to direct me to a reputable and cheap unlocking service?

I was wondering if there was a way to unlock the Galaxy SII for free. I know that you can use like adb to unlock the MyTouch 4G Slide. Can something one do something like that with this phone?
btw, I tried the "Galaxy S Unlock" app from the Play Store, and it didn't work.
Do what I did. Call tmobile and tell them that you are leaving the country for a while and want to use a different carrier to avoid roaming charges. Bam. I had my unlock code within 24 hours.

yeahhh. I know about that, but I don't like how you are supposed to wait 3 months in between unlocking. and i might actually leave the country in less than three months. and the other phone is neither unlocked nor rooted.
Nope, only way is to call T-Mobile for a code....or a third party vendor

Total noob question, they ask for your imei number, can they do anything untoward with that info to cause havoc with one's account?

either get teh code from AT&T (if you're a customer) or pay $25 for it at one of the unlock code sites. there are no 'free' options outside of the carrier.
To get the code from ATT, dont you have to pay the full price of the phone though? Also, if you do the 25$ unlock code thingy, does the unlock stay forever (even if I do an update or change ROM's)?

No, I got my code from At&t after owning my device for 40 something days through upgrade and unlock stays forever ...even when OTA or ROM changing.

I have a friend that he is selling his Tmobile GS3 but he didn't pay his bill so Tmobile blocked the IMEI so now he can't use it and he wants to sell it to me for 350, I think it is good price compare to what people is selling right now. Is there anyway I can unblock IMEI so I can use it on Tmobile network? Thanks.

If he pays his bill they should unblock it. Other than that the only way you could use it on T-Mobile is by changing the imei which isn't really legal.

He switched to pay-to-go as type of service, he doesn't have tmobile any more, he just totally doesn't want to pay the rest of his bill at all. One more question, since I have another GS3 and back up the IMEI on the working GS3, can I restore it on the blocked IMEI GS3? It likes both phone have the same IMEI, will it works that way?
or can anyone show me how to change the IMEI? Thanks.

No one is gonna help you break the law, either unlock it an use it on another network or don't buy it and save and get one that isn't blocked

Yeah I was just giving you an option. Nobody on xda is able to tell you how. It's your own choice to break the law if you choose to do so.

Looking for ways to unlock T999. Got the device for app testing purposes knowing it is blocked on T-Mobile. Now, to further test certain areas, need the phone unlocked completely. Of course, the findings will be shared on XDA in appropriate threads. So, please suggest any tools/apps/options to unlock this phone.
Calling T-Mobile for unlock code is NOT an option as the seller clearly stated it is blocked on the network and I verified that it is blocked.
Any ideas? (of course, free is first and cheap is second).
Ebay is your only other option at this point.
