I have an S3 with 4.1.1 and I'm just looking for the voice dialer that htc always uses. I use my Bluetooth to call ppl and i have juice defender. When the screen is off so is the net. And even with it on sometimes s voice acts the fool and tells me no service. I just want to make phone calls without pulling my phone out. Like the good ol' days. Can anyone help me please?
Much appreciated in advance.

Hey everyone!
I have, what i hope to be, an easily solvable issue.
I am studying abroad and my school gave me a free nokia crap phone which is great for making phone calls. I also happened to bring with me my G2 (unlocked) and have a seperate plan with just data, I just carry these two phones around and the system has pretty much worked fine for me.
However, I realized today that I coud forward the incoming calls from my crap phone to my G2. I like this because since I have a nice phone I kinda wanna use it! I only have one issue, outgoing calls. If I could set up outgoing call forwarding to my crap phone, I could just leave it in my room and just carry around the G2.
TLDR, is it possible to make calls through the G2 and have it routed through my other phone number?

Are you rooted? If you are and your running on CM Roms there's an option for call forwarding, i never checked on stock and different roms so don't ask me
Fly like a G2
Not possible. Take a look at GOOGLE VOICE, may be able to help.
Yeah, definitely sounds like a Google Voice thing, and a fun problem to solve really.
Gvoice won't work because it only works with american numbers but I'm in israel.

doesn't the nokia have a sim? take the sim out and put it in your g2!
Problem is that I use a data sim in my G2...switching the 2 sims constantly would be more annoying than carrying two phones.

I am having the same problem, I am looking to forward outgoing calls to my nice phone.
Did you figure a way to do it?
- Either by programmatically create conference calls?
- Or by having the calls forwarded?
Thanks, Jonathan
I use my Google Voice number for texting over wifi, as I am currently in between service providers. The Google Voice app, for me anyways, has become incredibly laggy and sometimes randomly crashes.
Is there some alternative method we can use?
Still looking. I found this project

I know a few people that use txtplus gold, to do txting. Also not sure if u know about grooveip, but it will let you make/recieve phone calls over wifi

Yeah I have been using grooveip for a while now with success for voice calls. Besides a little bit of echo that I can't get rid of it works great.
Google voice seems to run a little faster when launching it from the widget. For me at the least.

Are you using the regular Google Voice or the Sprint version of it? I had good luck once I used the regular Google and not the Sprint version. Also there is YouVoice that is very similar, but I found it to be slower than Google Voice.
I'm not sure what version I am using. How can you tell?

Hi all,
is there really no way to use the A101 as a phone? (with the SIM! - not Skype etc)
I'm wondering why other tablets (Odys, Galaxy Tab) are able to do so
You could use text+ from the market.I tried it before and worked pretty good to turn this to a phone tablet.but wwsnt sure how I would eventually need to start spending money.but tot turn it into a phone, try that app.

don't know if you understand me
I need to make and take calls with the tablet - SMS and UMTS is working, but there's no way to make or take calls
I wasn't able to find a app called text+ / plus in the market
No. The A501/A101 doesn't have the hardware for making calls.

He said quite clearly in the OP, not like Skype. He means like an actual phone.

No
The closest you can get that I am aware of would be to use either Skype, or Google Voice GrooveIP combo which could be used over the access provided by the SIM and associated provider, however it would still be VOIP and not the type of phone you speak of, BUT it would allow you to send and receive normal phone calls from/to real phones/mobile phones. SO I don't see any reason to care. GrooveIP is like $6 and then the google voice number is free. don't knock it lol
I used text+.
It worked as a phone.
I understood, don't know if its still on the market, but it works as a phone for your tablet.its not like Skype.
It makes your tablet a phone, and it gives you a real phone number.
Understood!

I know my A100 is not capable of messaging like my phone but is their another mainstream commonly used means of messaging on this tab. I have been using Google chat and Google + but since not everyone I know use this I was just wondering what y'all professional texters do.
I use DeskSMS on my phone to SMS to/from my A100 using Google Talk. Works great.
Tablet talk is the best app
You can send sms and place phone calls through the tablet from your phone ....but for voice call sound can only go thru your phone or a Bluetooth piece ...not through the tab .....check it out

I'll check out the suggestions for the one I like best.
Thanks for the replies.
I went with Google Voice. I like it. I think texting is faster with it than on my phone that I am paying for the service. I still need to test the phone call part out to see how it works. I am happy just to have texting again like the phone.
This was a great buy on this tablet. I am enjoying so much more than my DX. Everything is easier for me. Even rooting, ad boxing was easier than the DX.
Thanks again everyone steering me in the right direction.
I would like to hand off my EVO OG to my siblings to be used as a secondary phone for when they are home alone. So far the only thing i have left to setup is some kind of internet calling. Can I set up Google Voice on a phone with no number attached to it? Does anybody have an easier way to do this?
Yea you can do that. No you don't need a number attached to it. Google voice should give you one, but only works over WiFi

Sweet. WiFi is fine. The phone should never leave their house anyways. Thanks.
