[Q] Which recovery works with 6.1.A.0.452 Xperia S? - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

I don't know what to do anymore. Got my device today, unlocked BL, rooted it with Bin4ry method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460), installed busibox from Play store, but I simple cannot install recovery.
I tried with RecoverX. Program says that the install was successful, but there's no superuser's permission request (as usually happens in other devices), and I cannot access recovery (tried to restart holding Vol+ key, holding Vol- key, tried to install Rom Manager and ask it to restart in Recovery mode - nothing works).
I'm really frustrated right now, so it's possible that I've missed some noob step, but anyway, can someone give me a tip on how to make Recovery work?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] Make ClockwordMod complete backup?

Hi,
I recently rooted my phone through VISIONary+ r14 and today downloaded ROM Manager. I flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, but I can't back up my current ROM (stock/branded). I want to make a complete 100% backup of my current phone to be able to restore later if I need to.
However, I don't know how to do it. There is a 'Backup current ROM' option on ROM Manager, but whenever I do it my phone restarts showing the black screen with the phone and the red Caution exclamation mark + triangle, so I have to hold Volume Up and the Power button to restart my phone.
What do I do?
Also, it may be worth mentioning my Desire HD is a Vodafone Australia branded phone which hasn't been updated at all.
Well, the triangle image thingy means you dont have recovery flashed...
So, you have to choose 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' first. - That wil download a file from the internet and install it for you, so make sure you have internet connection
That will flash/install a recovery for you, in which you can create a backup.
Oh and i think you need to S-OFF your phone before installing recovery (im not sure about that but thats what i've heard)
click here for S-OFF http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403 --the last process says that after S-OFF you can install CWM recovery

Can you confirm if you did this separately to ROM Manager or as per above, used the Flash Recovery option in ROM Manager?
Have you confirmed you do have root?
If you reboot into recovery do you get to the clockworkmod recovery screen? What version is it?
If root can't be confirmed, re-do the visionary method. If root is confirmed but can't get to CWM-R do as per above and flash recovery from RM console.
Yes, I can confirm it is rooted.
I just ENG S-OFFed, so I'm going to try flashing recovery once again, although I'm still pretty sure it worked before that since Clockworkmod says "Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 3.0.2.6, Latest Recovery: ClockworkMod 3.0.2.6"
Will I do damage flashing it again?
EDIT: I pressed Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again and it waited for a little and then said that it was successful.
EDIT 2: Attempting another backup... And it's working!
No, you won't damage the it.
As I fly through different ROM's and do lot's of restores and backups I often have times where I need to reflash recovery.
look uot the link in my signature and try to do what it explanes......
Do all fases of rooting and you will have a perfectly rooted phone.
Also follow suggestions of CodeNameUnknown1.
Try man....Try

Great news!! Glad you got it sorted so far.
So, I have a problem.
I pressed the Backup option in ROM Manager, and the phone restarted, I'm now in Recovery mode... But I have a very strange problem. I can't make any selections.
I can scroll through the menu options fine, but can't select anything. If I press the power/lock button, the menu goes away and the clockworkmod logo in the middle just brightens up. If I press the home or menu buttons, the same thing happens, and if I press them again the menu just reappears. The return and search buttons do nothing except vibrate. What the hell?
That's an odd one.
Can you boot into recovery by turning phone off then holding vol- press power button and go to recovery from there? Does this do the same thing?
If same then I would uninstall ROM Manager and flash the recovery again via fastboot (in which case you can download the 3.0.2.8 version (page 3 ish of the development forum). Then try again.
Then re-install ROM Manager (which will show wrong version but ignore it).
At the moment I'm having trouble trying to turn off the phone at all :S looks like I'm actually going to have to open this horrible battery cover.
EDIT: After a battery pull I tried holding the Vol+ button and power button but it has just booted normally.
I can't actually try the vol- and power because my volume down button simply doesn't work...
EDIT 2: Uninstalled ROM Manager, reinstalled, booted into Recovery Mode, now it's backing up right next to me! Yay!
So I assume that, once it's done, I just take one big file it makes and put it on my laptop or something?
EDIT 3: Okay, one more step and I should be completely rooted with no hassles.
Will this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537) work for a branded phone? It says it requires a stock kernel. My phone meets all other requirements, but is the kernel of a Vodafone AU branded Desire HD 'stock' enough to work with this S-OFF tool? I would attempt it but I'm a little worried I might screw something up.

i'm not even able to access the ClockworkMod Recovery

Hello everyone,
Since I'm totaly new and noob on the android "scene" I followed this tutorial and I rooted my S3 without any problem : hxxp://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-u-s-and-canada-galaxy-s3-sgh-t999sgh-i747sph-l710-fail-proofnoob-proof/[/url]
Today, I finally decide to try to flash with a custom rom but i'm not even able to access the ClockworkMod Recovery... I keep holding home, power and volume up without any success.. is it normal ? I know I'm rooted, because I can use titanium backup
How can I fix this problem ? The tutorial was reliable ?
Please, let me know.... Thank you
Sorry, english isn't my first language
Just cause your rooted doesnt mean you have cwm. But stock recovery should at least come up. Hold volume up and home button, THEN hold power til it vibrates. Let go off power but continue to hold volume up and home.

Making lemonade out of lemons...
Once you have root, fire up the Play Store, search for "clockworkmod" and download "ROM Manager".
Assuming your root method also installed "superuser" or "SuperSU", Open ROM Manager and tap the first option under the first section, "Recovery" > "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".
Once that finishes, tap "Reboot into Recovery" and enjoy.
Please read this basic guide about your phone (see link below - posted as the first thread in the General section of this phones forum section).

Can't reboot into recovery (Recoverx)

Hi guys,
I don't really get answers from the RecoverX thread, so I will try to hear if any Xperia S users might have an advice for my problem.
I'm using RecoverX on my Xperia S. I really needed this, it's great being able to manage phone without connecting to PC every time and flashing from command prompt. My install of Recoverx and the first flashing of af ROM from SD-card worked great. I flashed MIUI:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1793432
Now I just can't enter recovery. For the first part I can't really find instructions on how to. I'm trying first to hold power and up until battery is "disconnected". Than I tried to reboot and hit different combinations: volume up, volume down, continously, repeatedly, I tried tapping the screen (like the first time, when it worked), hitting back and menu keys. No success.
Can you tell me what I should do? Install Recoverx again? That can't be necessary, can it?
Sorry if I'm asking an obvious question, but I tried search and read through recoverx thread and I can't find a solution.
Thanks a lot for your help in advanced.
Agoston
Just restart your phone and then tap the screen a few times gets you into recovery normally,
Is it possible that the install of Miui has wiped the recovery?
Just reinstall it again and then try it.

Please help. No recovery in Ion!

Hi guys. I have a Xperia Ion LT28H. International model.
From a few days, I am trying to get CWM/TWRP recovery on it.
But I'm unable to reach at any fruitful result.
Anybody please help me getting custom recovery on my phone.
This is what I did-
I rooted it using DoomLord(or something like that)
Installed recovery using RecoverX
-no luck-
Then I flashed original generic ftf file(for a fresh start again)
Again rooted thru DoomLord
Tried installing recovery using IonDualRecovery
-no luck-
Used this recovery olso: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830170
Then I figured out my bootloader was locked(although I don't know how that effects)
I unlocked bootloader thru sony website method.
Again repeated everything mentioned above.
Tried 3-4 different ways for installing recovery.
I somewhere found this info-
(JB)
- let the phone boot
- at sony logo, the phone will vibrate
- a blue led lights up
- press volume up immediately and keep pressing for a few seconds
- the CWM does not come up immediately. after a few seconds delay, press vol up or vol down.
- you will enter CWM recovery.

Click to collapse
I was on JB 4.1.2, but still, no blue led comes up.
One more thing I figured out.
Flashify(from play store) says "No recovery partition found"
I have tried every way of booting into recovery.
Tapping sony logo
Pressing Vol+ several times
Pressing Vol- several times
Tried all possible combos.
Sony logo flashes a few times, but nothing else.
I'm unable to boot into recovery(don't know if its installed or not)
:'(
Please help.
Thanks for reading the boring issue.

Cannot enter recovery mode

Hey All,
I have recently rooted my Xperia T2 with hopes of entering the wonderful world of customization. However, I cannot enter recovery mode at all. I have exhausted Google looking for a solution prior to registering here. I have tried everything from downloading apps such as Quick Boot to connecting to PC and trying the adb command ''adb reboot recovery'' and ''adb reboot-bootloader'' and of course I have tried the obvious of turning off the phone and then powering back on while holding the power button and volume up key at the same time. Performing that action shows the phone powering on with the Sony screen followed by a black screen where the phone vibrates 3 times and will continue in this loop if I don't release the keys, If I do release them the phone just starts normally. In all cases, that is is what is happening, the phone restarts and boots normally.
I have checked that everything is OK with the rooting that I did via the app Root Checker and and checked bootloader unlocked status via the command ''*#*#7378423#*#*''.
So, there you have it and I just can't understand why I can't enter the recovery mode. My main goal for the moment is to free up some RAM by doing the Link2SD method but without getting into the recovery mode, that seems hopeless.
Hopefully someone here can advise me.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
I can't enter recovery mode too... also already unlocked my bootloader but recovery still unacessible.
See what I did:
(DONE) - Unlocked my bootloader;
(FAIL) - Tryed to root by using KingRoot (2 differrent versions, one that I saw in a tutorial and the newer version - cause I'm using the newer T2 Ultra firmware)
(FAIL) - Tryed to install a custom recovery and as a gift, my T2 started an infinite bootloop.
(DONE) - Fix the boot loop problem...;
(FAIL) - Enter recovery mode and flash a Pre Rooted Firmware;
(DONE) - Searching how to flash a custom recovery again...
(DONE) - Installed a custom recovery (TWRP)...
Now I have another problem... wen a I try to turn It on, It only goes to recovery, and the notification led blinks red and then purple. There's anything I can do to fix It?
The very same problem i am facing now
I wanted to upgrade to higher version of lollipop but not able to get in recovery mode though i have already rooted n installed NDR utils BUT not able to get in recovery mode even via app
Any one who can help US OUT ?? !
I have same problem i can't enter to recovery mode by hold power button and volume + or volume - i try a lot of other combinaison but it doesn't work , help us thanks
I know it's too late for a reply but if u still wandering for how to flash a custom recovery first you need to install one as our Sony phones doesn't come with stock recoveries as mtk and Samsung devices have. Now go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/t2-ultra/development/t2-ultra-xzdualrecovery-qa-t2823793 for Complete tutorial on flashing and downloading a custom recovery. I have installed it with no errors
