i'm not even able to access the ClockworkMod Recovery - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hello everyone,
Since I'm totaly new and noob on the android "scene" I followed this tutorial and I rooted my S3 without any problem : hxxp://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-root/how-to-root-u-s-and-canada-galaxy-s3-sgh-t999sgh-i747sph-l710-fail-proofnoob-proof/[/url]
Today, I finally decide to try to flash with a custom rom but i'm not even able to access the ClockworkMod Recovery... I keep holding home, power and volume up without any success.. is it normal ? I know I'm rooted, because I can use titanium backup
How can I fix this problem ? The tutorial was reliable ?
Please, let me know.... Thank you
Sorry, english isn't my first language

Just cause your rooted doesnt mean you have cwm. But stock recovery should at least come up. Hold volume up and home button, THEN hold power til it vibrates. Let go off power but continue to hold volume up and home.

Making lemonade out of lemons...
Once you have root, fire up the Play Store, search for "clockworkmod" and download "ROM Manager".
Assuming your root method also installed "superuser" or "SuperSU", Open ROM Manager and tap the first option under the first section, "Recovery" > "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".
Once that finishes, tap "Reboot into Recovery" and enjoy.
Please read this basic guide about your phone (see link below - posted as the first thread in the General section of this phones forum section).

Why volume up/down cannot use in recovery mode?

Hello guys,
I got a problem. when i enter the recovery mode(the green font) i cannot use my volume up and down to change option i want to choose. can anybody here help me on this? thanks in advance.
You can use the touchpad to make choices, it's usually not too responsive but it gets the job done.
First, what recovery are you using? If its ClockworkMod you should be able to.
Hahaha.. This reminded me the time I rooted my phone. I used the r5 guide here in xda in rooting my desire, and after step2, on the recovery menu, I couldnt use the volume keys to scroll up and down the menu. At this point I thought my phone got bricked! and I had to repeat step2 again.. Only later did I realise you have to use the optical joystick...
That was a scary 5-10 minutes for me..

Bootloop desire CM 6.1 RC

Hye guys,
When i wiped my rom, backuped my current and installed the new CM 6.1 RC, i am stuck at boot-loop.
The cm mod logo just reappears, and nothing further happens.
When i press power and volume down, and choose recovery, i just get this exclamation mark with a triangle around the mark over a desire.
Anyone got a suggestion to what i can do? the led seems to work fine.
Any help would be appriciated.
cheers
I have the same. Tried loading 6.0.2 first which works well but not getting past boot on 6.1

I had the same problem with this mod.
I have not found a solution - my phone being sent off for repair...

Well that is the standard htc recovery. That is the recovery installed to your phone if you didn't install another one. So if you rooted usings pauls method, you have probably been using fake flash to access recovery. So do the following to enter your fake flash recovery:
1. when on the triangle screen hold "volume up" and press "power button"
2. use volume and power button to select "flash update.zip"
3. now clockwork mod(your normal recovery) should appear, and you can just restore your backup.
Now lets hope you didn't install it in the order you mentioned:

This way your backup will contain a couple of empty partitions.. because you would have wiped it first. I hope you were not that stupid
And a note: please don't mess with things you clearly don't have a clue about. You clearly do not know, what you are doing to your phone and are just pushing buttons according to some guide.

So you wan't HTC to take care of a problem you created by hacking your phone? Take some responsibility and if you dont know how to install roms and how they work. Just don't.(note to OP above also applies to you)
And finally sorry for being a little rough on you guys but seriously such problems could be easily solved by the individual just by reading up on the subject of rooting as the above info should be common knowledge.

[Q] Make ClockwordMod complete backup?

Hi,
I recently rooted my phone through VISIONary+ r14 and today downloaded ROM Manager. I flashed ClockworkMod Recovery, but I can't back up my current ROM (stock/branded). I want to make a complete 100% backup of my current phone to be able to restore later if I need to.
However, I don't know how to do it. There is a 'Backup current ROM' option on ROM Manager, but whenever I do it my phone restarts showing the black screen with the phone and the red Caution exclamation mark + triangle, so I have to hold Volume Up and the Power button to restart my phone.
What do I do?
Also, it may be worth mentioning my Desire HD is a Vodafone Australia branded phone which hasn't been updated at all.
Well, the triangle image thingy means you dont have recovery flashed...
So, you have to choose 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery' first. - That wil download a file from the internet and install it for you, so make sure you have internet connection
That will flash/install a recovery for you, in which you can create a backup.
Oh and i think you need to S-OFF your phone before installing recovery (im not sure about that but thats what i've heard)
click here for S-OFF http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403 --the last process says that after S-OFF you can install CWM recovery

Can you confirm if you did this separately to ROM Manager or as per above, used the Flash Recovery option in ROM Manager?
Have you confirmed you do have root?
If you reboot into recovery do you get to the clockworkmod recovery screen? What version is it?
If root can't be confirmed, re-do the visionary method. If root is confirmed but can't get to CWM-R do as per above and flash recovery from RM console.
Yes, I can confirm it is rooted.
I just ENG S-OFFed, so I'm going to try flashing recovery once again, although I'm still pretty sure it worked before that since Clockworkmod says "Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 3.0.2.6, Latest Recovery: ClockworkMod 3.0.2.6"
Will I do damage flashing it again?
EDIT: I pressed Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again and it waited for a little and then said that it was successful.
EDIT 2: Attempting another backup... And it's working!
No, you won't damage the it.
As I fly through different ROM's and do lot's of restores and backups I often have times where I need to reflash recovery.
look uot the link in my signature and try to do what it explanes......
Do all fases of rooting and you will have a perfectly rooted phone.
Also follow suggestions of CodeNameUnknown1.
Try man....Try

Great news!! Glad you got it sorted so far.
So, I have a problem.
I pressed the Backup option in ROM Manager, and the phone restarted, I'm now in Recovery mode... But I have a very strange problem. I can't make any selections.
I can scroll through the menu options fine, but can't select anything. If I press the power/lock button, the menu goes away and the clockworkmod logo in the middle just brightens up. If I press the home or menu buttons, the same thing happens, and if I press them again the menu just reappears. The return and search buttons do nothing except vibrate. What the hell?
That's an odd one.
Can you boot into recovery by turning phone off then holding vol- press power button and go to recovery from there? Does this do the same thing?
If same then I would uninstall ROM Manager and flash the recovery again via fastboot (in which case you can download the 3.0.2.8 version (page 3 ish of the development forum). Then try again.
Then re-install ROM Manager (which will show wrong version but ignore it).
At the moment I'm having trouble trying to turn off the phone at all :S looks like I'm actually going to have to open this horrible battery cover.
EDIT: After a battery pull I tried holding the Vol+ button and power button but it has just booted normally.
I can't actually try the vol- and power because my volume down button simply doesn't work...
EDIT 2: Uninstalled ROM Manager, reinstalled, booted into Recovery Mode, now it's backing up right next to me! Yay!
So I assume that, once it's done, I just take one big file it makes and put it on my laptop or something?
EDIT 3: Okay, one more step and I should be completely rooted with no hassles.
Will this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537) work for a branded phone? It says it requires a stock kernel. My phone meets all other requirements, but is the kernel of a Vodafone AU branded Desire HD 'stock' enough to work with this S-OFF tool? I would attempt it but I'm a little worried I might screw something up.

[Q] Which recovery works with 6.1.A.0.452 Xperia S?

I don't know what to do anymore. Got my device today, unlocked BL, rooted it with Bin4ry method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460), installed busibox from Play store, but I simple cannot install recovery.
I tried with RecoverX. Program says that the install was successful, but there's no superuser's permission request (as usually happens in other devices), and I cannot access recovery (tried to restart holding Vol+ key, holding Vol- key, tried to install Rom Manager and ask it to restart in Recovery mode - nothing works).
I'm really frustrated right now, so it's possible that I've missed some noob step, but anyway, can someone give me a tip on how to make Recovery work?
Thanks in advance!
