Battery - Sprint LG Optimus G

On Imperium Initiative.
Just wanted to share some battery results with everyone.
I've been on WiFi and 3g all day, moderate use with about 2 hours of Audible.com. less texts than usual since I was home today, but more email than normal and about 3 hours talking
50% going strong. I'm floored.

The battery is surprisingly good especially for 2100mA

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Between replying to texts, emails, and making a few calls, it was probably a couple of hours. I didn't check screen on time, because I had given it pretty moderate use for what I normally do (I am generally an aggressive user).
It was an impressive day for battery life for me.

Battery life thread

Can people post pics off their battery life and set up? I'm getting an daily average of 9-12 hours. I hear of people getting 1-2 days with he same set up as me. 4 hours phone call, text, web, words with friends, etc
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
I get about ten hours of battery life but I spend about four or five hours non stop on the internet/ Facebook/YouTube and that definitely takes a lot off of my battery.. I'm running calkulus ROM with the ICS theme.. I'm not sure if this particular theme takes a lot from my battery but I feel like I could get two full days if I keep my 3g off and keep it to texting/phone calls. Hope this helped
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
On heavy business days with tons of phone calls like 50...lots of texts again around 50...checking email every hour...GPS once a day...I get around 8 hours before battery shows red. But that is using the phone heavy, in my hands all day always on it. For comparison, my EVO 4G with that same heavy use would die in around 4 hours.
On weekends with WiFi mainly...few texts...and casual web surfing, I easily go a whole day and into the next morning.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Had the exact same, 8-9 hours battery, drained so fast. However, tried Calkins ROM, with Tegrak Profiles and it now gets 20-24 hours. I'm really happy with the battery now.
Two separate shots on heavy all day xda trolling.

T-Mobile Terrible Battery Life

Hi everyone I got my phone 4 days ago and have been through charge cycles but my battery life sucks. I only get a Max of 2hrs on screen time and 12 hours with the phone on (if its in airplane mode the whole time). Also, it takes forever to charge. I charged it from 7pm to 10:30pm and it went from 2% to 34%. And as i type this message (on wifi) I lost 3% battery life. What should I do?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Also it seems that display takes up 50% battery (which is good) but as soon as I send one text, phone immediately goes to 50% and display down to 18%. It stays that way all day and rebooting does not help. And the battery percent goes up and down without charging. And yes I have calibrated it multiple times
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Have you considered getting another battery
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I would not like to spend anymore money on this phone if possible. I just spent $680 on it. What kind of battery life are u getting?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
You should return it. My on screen time is 3hrs and I still have 61% left.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Yup, I can get 4+ hours screen time, not on power saver. You need to swap your phone out, something's not right.
Something is definitely wrong. I had a 45 minute conversation in my car today with the screen on for navigation and it only drained 15%. I was quite impressed.
Sent from my GT-P6810 using Tapatalk
Call up T-Mobile and tell them your battery is defective and they will send you a new one free of charge. Plus you can keep your old one.

Well I went back to the tmobile store and just swapped the phone. Hopefully this one will be better than the last.

Most likely, you have a lemon, and you should exchange it.
keep in mind, if you store your phone in a hot place it will drain considerably quicker..happen to my S2

Then they'll start charging. My friends Sensation legit needed a back cover for his phone (power button was shot and volume rocker fell out) but he couldn't get one from HTC after three attempts.
Try doing a factory reset. It helped on my S3.

Post your battery life

I don't see a thread like this for the T-mobile variant so I figured we can have our own. It would be nice if you included the following with your posts:
screenshots including on screen time, information about your rom, kernel, etc. and estimated talk, text, browsing, and gaming time, and what brightness you had your screen on (auto, full, etc.). If you use something like SetCpu with profiles list your profiles and settings here too.
I'll start:
This is only my second cycle charge on this device. I only got it 2 days ago now which means it still has room for improvement
My sig has my rom info and I basically did a lot of twitter browsing, about 100 texts a few short minute phone calls including an hour long call when it was at around 10%, a lot of XDA reading, and no gaming today.
I have the device overclocked to 1.89ghz with this kernel with min set at 384mhz ondemand governor. I have a profile that clocks down to 1.5ghz at 50% battery life and another that clocks down to 1ghz at less than 10%.
I've never had a device give me 4h on screen time especially with the abuse I give this device. I can't wait to try out other kernels and roms to see these numbers rise.
I could get a day and a half with no tweaking and low usage, on an average day I'm getting ~15 hours before it starts whining about the battery
Yeah but what's your on screen time?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Right?! That's what it comes down to. It doesn't matter if your battery life is amazing if the reason why is because you barely if ever use your phone...
I'll post tonight just got my new anker battery.

I could make it 24 hours easily with light usage. With moderate to heavy usage, probably around 20 hours. It really depends on how long the screen is on though. This phone has amazing battery life. My HTC Amaze probably only lasted half as long.

I agree, best battery life I have had out of all of my previous smartphones. I am still testing roms and kernel combinations to figure out what works best for how I use my device. I'm in the middle of testing FSG3 rom with trinity kernel. Will post up battery usage within the next 2 days to compare to my previous Stock rom with Adama 003 kernel battery life.
My Screen
Pretty Good so far, Stock Rom - Rooted - Still 40% left.
This is with the fsg3 rom and trinity kernel. First and only cycle so far. Brightness 100% wifi on most of the time, and data and gps always on. Played music for about half an hour and browsed xda for half an hour.
Edit: screen on time was just over 4 hours deleted the ss by accident.
Will post up the 2nd cycle when it's done.

New screen shots after a few cycles. Again fsg3 rom with trinity alpha 36 kernel. Brightness 100% wifi on most of the time, and and auto sync also on.
Look at screen time on not just total battery time. This is what determines good battery life not letting your device sleep on your desk for 2 days and saying you get amazing battery life.

I get phenomenal battery life out of my S3 (stock).
I had an Epic 4G and was afraid to leave my desk because of the battery drain. With moderate usage (30-60 mins talk time, texting, chat, some web, exchange, ect) I can easily get 16-20 hours. Signal quality in your area will impact it more than anything. Also, wifi is vastly easier on the battery.
PS Facebook app SUCKS. Just bookmark the webpage and use that. Works better and doesn't ruin your phone.
Here how it looks like ! Lovin this screen on time..

I think it depends on how its configured. I've seen it eat the battery but also not use it much at all. Been a bit since I messed with it though so don't remember what settings made the difference.

Post a screen shot and I'll tell ya what could be happening.
You can improve battery life by switching to custom roms with less bloatware, and updating to more efficient kernels. (This is on a Rom/Kernel level)
Software wise, just figure out what apps are causing wake times and try not to use them. Basically whenever an app/widget refreshes/updates content, it may cause phone to wake (like weather/clock widgets for example).
I have been using cpusleep and it seems to have helped my battery life ... also using a custom rom without the bloatware is key for me.
my current setup is freegs3 release 6 with the latest trinity kernel...even though its overclocked my battery has been amazing and phone has worked flawless.
Im also using system tuner which has given me the ability to manage the cpu with on demand and other customizable settings
The only thing I synch is my k9 mail account
I also have frozen several samsung apps which helped...
Im now getting over 20 hours of basic use between charges...I dont use games/videos so might be a little skewed . I use this phone for business calls/internet/messaging/photos/navi...pretty basic

I have been using Gigajoule lately by feckmu and it has given me the best battery life out of all the custom roms I have tried. Even with GPS, WIFI, and screen at full brightness I can make it through the entire day with 30-40% battery left. If your looking for a rom-based solution to your battery life, check it out!
