The reason I want the apk when it's free in the store is that I have a kindle fire, and the version in the play store for kindle fire doesn't play live tv and the one for nexus 7 does. Thanks

If you have problems with the apk, you could easily change the build.prop to a Nexus 7

So how long until amazon gets us N7 users an app?

What Amazon app? I installed Amazon appstore with no problem. Text is a little small. Moved all my stored free apps I wanted to my N7.
Um...there is an app. I have the Amazon App store app, and there's an Amazon Mobile app as well as an Amazon MP3 app. Not sure what you're looking for exactly. A simple search in the PlayStore will reveal these to you.

The Mobile app is "incompatible", though it works fine when side loaded.
My guess is Amazon is working on a tablet version of the app, so we won't see support until then.

So the amazon app store is for download in the play store? A simple search of either of those in the "play store" doesn't tell me to side load the amazon app and let's me know I have to use the amazon app store to install the amazon app

You can download the app directly from Amazon's web page in a browser.
Appstore:
http://www.amazon.com/amazonappstoreapp
Then get the shopping app from the Amazon appstore.

I know that, but a simple search of the play store would not have done anything

Is there a way to download the Kinectimals app on the Kindle Fire? Because my sister really likes thus game but can't get it on her Fire because the Play Store lists it as being not compatible. I tried editing build prop but that didn't seem to do anything. Thanks!

Anyone?

Not sure if it will work, but if you try and disguise your KF as the galaxy nexus with this rom it might work...

I meant was there a way to install it if I don't flash a new ROM. She will not let me do any modification to her Fire aside from the usual install methods. What if I copy the apk from my nexus 7?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You should be able to side load it. Just get the apk from another android device and move it over to the kindle.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but I've run into a problem. I can't get the apk extracted from the app. I downloaded it and tried using ApkExtractor to do it but it failed. I also tried Astro File Manager's backup function but that didn't work either. I think their is a form of copy protection on it. Can anyone help?

Try using titanium backup and lucky patcher, in that order.

The fact that the new kindle fire runs on ICS means we will probably see a new app for the amazon video streaming. This should be compatible with our tablets! So excited

Eh.. Mayyyyyyyybe.
Could be built into the Fire (more than just an APK), could be completely locked down to Fire models, could be a lot of things... Dont get excited yet.
Netflix runs same as love film with same movies etc so should make a difference in the uk

Here you go.. Took me a couple of weeks to find out that my very old and retired HTC Hero was compatible with the app. I rooted it so I could get at the apk once it was downloaded from the market. Bluetoothed it to my Sony Xperia tablet and now all is right with the world.
Happy 2013 all.
Dan.
Thank you!
