[Q] Need help restoring data after re-injecting IMEI

First: I have searched... alot.... seriously alot of searching
Second: I would have posted in the appropriate forum ( AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III > AT&T Galaxy S III Android Development > [FIX/TOOL] Backup/Restore/Fix IMEI & Data Restore Tool v3.0 - Updated 11/01/2012!!!)
BUT I have less then ten posts so I guess I have to put it here.
I restored my IMEI via the instructions in the forum, that went ok, but when I try to load the .qcn backup file into SGS3 QCN Generator the .qcn backup cannot be found on my pc.
I made sure to put it in the correct bin folder and when I go into QPST Software Download the file shows up, but if you browse or even search for it outside of that application it cannot be found...
I'm sorry for posting this here I would rather posted this as a reply in the right forum but the ten posts thing, I guess I'm a noob but I have rooted and rom'd 4 phones now with 12 or 15 different roms and haven't had any issue like this.
any help would be much appreciated.
Phone is tmobile
SGH-T999
4.0.4
Baseband: T999UVLI6
Ok I flashed stock everything from odin, back to Baseband: T999UVLH2 and tried the whole process again and it worked, except I still don't have 4g data... so i could use some help if you know of a way to make my 4g come back pc also says it is unable to identify device when I connect via usb...
Only thing I can think of is when you restore your qcn backup, use the very first one you ever made. Dont know why, just that multiple members have reported that as working for them.
If it doesn't help, PM peoplearmy. I believe he has a file that should fix you right up. Or will at least know what to do.

4G is back, apparently all it needed was another reboot and to sit about 10 min...
Thank you Doc for the reply, I didn't know what I was going to do if all of that didn't work.
If anyone has searched this problem and you have found this thread, please PM me and I will be glad to help you as best I can.

[Q] lost imei, sim, and service after custom rom

so i'm in need of some big help here. i have a t-mobile galaxy note 2(SGH-T889). I recently rooted my phone(clockwork) as was looking around for some custom roms to put on it. then i came across the hawkish extreme on here(was blown away by it by the way, pure awesome). me being foolish as i am opted to put this on my phone. just i didn't realize until it was too late that it was for international phones only. so now i have no service with circle and the diagonal line through along with the imei saying unknown. i'm completely lost i've seen a couple threads on here as to how to recover but not any dealing with my type of situation. i don't have efs backed-up. i'm a little freaked out right now so any help would be grateful.
any other information you need just let me know.
thanks in advance.
[edit]: i fixed thanks to teshxx SGH-T889 Factory Images, Roms, Kernels, & Modems thread
Start with flashing stock t mobile with odin. You might get lucky and it will be fine, if not the are guides to help you get your imei and signals back.

[Q] [HELP] Soft Bricked i9505

I rooted my GS4 yesterday and had no issues at all until i tried to flash a MOD to obtain wireless hotspot, but what i didnt notice was the MOD was for a Sprint version GS4. I know know if thats exactly what made my phone brick but im pretty positive because it was during the reboot that the phone got stuck on the TMO screen and apparently remaining soft-bricked. I spent the rest of the night and all of today reading and researching how to fix it myself before coming here to ask for help, so please bare with me.
I have already attempted to flash the official stock firmware using Odin, but it displays an error everytime saying it failed and something about AUTH. Sorry if im sounding vague, i am on a back up phone to use the internet and forgot to right down the exact message.. Anywho, i tried wiping everything and redoing the process and i even tried to flash the appropiate PIT file that i found but it still displays an error and says failed because of some AUTH or SEC problem.
Ive been at this diligently for almost 12 hours. My brain is filled with all these suggestions and methods that i have tried to use to restore my phone back to factory, but none of them have worked. I can still get into recovery and all that, so im assuming that there is still good chance i could fix the problem?
Also i am starting to get myself more and more confused about whether the firmware i downloaded is the right one i need for my phone, it seemed so at first but now i see theres TONS of region codes that can determine the firmware version?
Sorry if im all over the place, but i just dont know which step to take next..
I appreciate any help that is given, and im even willing to pay (some) bucks or maybe even (btc) for someone to walk me through what i need to do or what im doing wrong.
Thanks in Advance
Have you followed every single thing in the return to stock thread? Including updating your drivers, using the USB cable that came with your phone, running Odin as admin, etc?

No i havent tried that threads strategy, although i have done the same exact steps but only difference i see is that the firmware file name is:
M919UVUAMDL
While the one i was trying to use earlier was:
I9505XXUAMDM
This is where im getting very confused because i cant find a cut and dry way of knowing which firmware is the correct one..

You do have the T-Mobile SGS4, correct? Any files with I9505 in the name are for the international version, which is what you flashed (not the right file). All of ours will mention SGH-M919, M919, or jfltetmo in the file name. Pull the one in the thread I linked above and push that.
Crossing your fingers while doing so couldn't hurt...
Edit: I'd recommend using the "Download UVUAMDL Official TAR" in that thread as well, not the "stock tar (original)", since the MDL is official.

Thanks so much, i feel stupid for not realizing the difference between the two haha. Im d/l the firmware from the thread you referenced as we speak so i definitely will keep my fingers crossed and let you know how it turns out!
Thanks again. Im not sure how to give a thanks on here or credit for you help but your help is definitely appreciated.
error post
If you can get into download mode i would suggest flashing stock with that then rerooting that way the program downloads all of the nessacary stuff on its own.

[Q] Galaxy S3 - No Signal After Flash

First of all I would like to say this is my first post and I am feeling very optimistic as I have seen all the great things you guys have done over here! I understand in order to solve my problem I will have to be as detailed as I can, but please bare with me as I am a noob to this stuff and seem to have run into some trouble
Okay so I got a new S3 Last week and wanted to try it out on some new custom roms, I flashed it to CM 10.1 nightly using the roms downloaded via GooManager, all was fine and I had no problems until i flashed to a newer version of the nightly build and lost my signal, it always said Emergency calls only.
This happened to me once before but I solved it by flashing a modem file via Odin, since then I had to preform full system reset as I was considering selling my phone, it didn't come to that and now I am back to square one and once again I have no signal.
I have tried flashing the same modem file as I did before with no effect this time round
I have since tried many different modems and completely forgot which one has worked in the past. I have no back up files what so ever so I need to know what it is that is causing it not to get a signal. Could it be the kernel I am using? or is there a pacific modem for my ROM which I need.
I understand this is my own fault and stupidity, you guys are my last hope, I have also tried stock firmware which also has no signal.
It is an international i9300 with UK T-Mobile.
Please help me save my phone!
I hope you didn't flash a Tmobiles modem, because international gs3 and SGH-T999 aren't similar I believe other than looking the same. And more than likely you've lost your IMEI. Please goto settings and check your IMEI. Please do not post it, just verify if it's 0 or a 16 digit string.

Welcome to the forum! Albeit not quite the right one.
You need to post this in the international forum. This is for the US/Canadian models only. They are very different from yours, and not many people here will know much about it.
Do not flash anything you find here! It is highly likely to brick your phone. If you flashed our modems. Consider yourself lucky and now you know why it isn't working. Check with the guys in the other forum for your next step though.
I wish you luck!

As stated, incorrect forum. I'd give you the proper link if I was at a computer. But thank you for the detailed panic free post. It's seriously appreciated.
You're going to end up having to flash the modem that's for your phone, or maybe Odin stock.
You are right I have no imie number just a 16 digit string :/ sorry guys for posting in the wrong arearly next time I will make sure I will post correctly.
I am strating to get concerned, is this an easy fix? I dont mind wiping any data or using a certain Rom I just don't know which modem to use, some modems show me my bars but it still wont get any service. This one currently just shows a circle and cross icon with no bars at all. I am running stock.

I apologise thank you for the link, if I run into anymore trouble I will post to the correct section. I am glad to inform you I have solved the issue. It turns out I installed a bad modem which actually changes the file type of type of the efs folder. Causing roms to not reading it properly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2377731
I fixed the issue by installing a stock firmware found on this post...
http://50.23.216.69-static.reverse.softlayer.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
This firmware carries a modem file which can read the modified efs folder, and in result restoring my IMEI Number and signal even after I flashed the rom to CM 10.1.
I hope some one else can stumble on to this and it helps them, please be aware though I have an intervention Galaxy s3 and this may not work in the states or other parts of the world.
Thanks again massive help, its people like you that make this the best source of information on the internet!
Once again really sorry about posting in the wrong forums, I will try not let it happen again in the future!

Congrats, I'm glad you rectified the problem! Remember for next time, when you're not able to access data or you're stuck at 2G that your IMEI has most likely went! For future reference, I recommend making an EFS backup. We've all been there before and we know the scare!
And btw, welcome to XDA, enjoy the stay lol.
Yeah I have double backed up and thanks for the tip I will keep that in mind thanks again dude!

Yesterday I flashed S4 Revolution v8.0 [ROM][4.3 MJ9] then I lost my signal and imei and the baseband version is empty although I wipe my cash and data before flashing this rom.
I don't think that's a Rom we have for our device, unless I overlooked it.
Googled it and came up as an I9300 Rom. If this is what you flashed consider yourself extraordinarily lucky it's not hard bricked!
Odin flash the firmware for your model only! Hopefully that fixes it.....
And NEVER flash a Rom not for your model device.

Can't Call or Text
I've asked this question in two other LP Q&A's so far (Unofficial CM and LiquidSmooth), but nobody seems to be able to answer, so I'll apologize in advance for sounding like a broken record. After a seemingly successful ROM flash following the steps above, I'm unable to make calls or send SMS (the "send" button is grayed out and can't even be pressed). About|Phone lists my baseband correctly, but the APN menu is blank, and a manual edit doesn't seem to do anything. I also haven't found an APN-fix ZIP that does anything at all. So, while the ROM looks to be functioning correctly (and pulls data great over WiFi), it's otherwise non-functional.
Can anyone shed light on this for me? Thanks!

Hi There , did you get some help ? You have sprint phone I take it . What recovery and did you come from stock ? Maybe your baseband is wrong , meaning your modem version . It sounds like maybe that could be your problem . You need to be on a specific modem version which ends with ND8 I think . At the worst if you are sprint you might have to one click a stock restore back onto the phone then get your data , telephony and GPS all working and then reflash .The reclick will update your phone to the right version and is easy . if you need a link to it let me know . You also might be able to get by with just flashing the radio . I'm here to help . Don't be discouraged . Holler back .

Thank you!! I REALLY appreciate the response. I'm on MD4; I haven't tried to update for two reasons. First, the OP of the first Lollipop ROM I tried (Unofficial CM12) threw up a screenshot of service working on MD4, but I couldn't get it to work for me. Second, I'm a little leery of updating to a Knox-based modem, because I've never had it on my device to this point.
I'm coming from CM11 (haven't had stock in over a year) with TWRP 2.8.1.0. And yes, I have a Sprint phone (the original, not the new triband)

Ok well I got my used phone a while back that likely took the ND8 update , not sure whether it originally came with ND8 but I don't think the knox really matters . Your phone under warranty ? I haven't heard of any issue regarding knox whatsoever .

No, not under warranty - I've had it for over two years, but I'm not worried about that. I'll take a look into updating the radio - hopefully that will work.

Yeah I think thats why your baseband is dead . From what I know and am told you have to be on ND8 . I'm pretty sure if you just update the radio and are on the custom rom then you'll probably have to reprovision the phone and you most likely won't be able to do that . You can try but be prepared to one click it and get activated , get your gps working and everything else and then your good to start flashing and profiting . This is the link to the one click I personally like . I've used it and know it works well . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755793 Holler back if you need anything and good luck .

su issue
So I just flashed the build of Exodus from the 26th and only flashed the ROM and gapps. Upon boot and setup, I found I didn't have root. It seems that it may not actually be in the current build yet. I just flashed a SuperSU package that I had already and it gave root access.

Sorry for the late reply , just found this . Actually it is built in . Here's how you get it going and it's pretty simple . go to Security then privacy and flip the toggle on and off on privacy guard . No need to leave it on . Next go to developer options and under root access flip it from adb + apps to something else then exit that menu and go back in and flip it back to adb+apps . The 2nd step I just mentioned might be enough . Seriously, its just that easy and then privacy guard su will work . If you already flashed SU I would remove it . It's been built in for about 2 weeks and the confusion was in that sometime it pops right up and sometimes you have to trigger it as I described . Holler back if you need any addtional help but that should take care of it . Works like a champ on all 3 roms .
MD
I really like this rom. (I tried other LP roms, and exodus tops them all).
I only need a fix for LTE at the moment (I know it doesn't exist, but hoping that a fix, or an update will fix this issue)
Keep up the good work!
