I keep getting the message:
CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4
E: Invalid command argument
Finding update package
Opening update package
Verifying update package
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I had my phone rooted but uninstalled the root and factory reset my phone, and the update still won't work. Anyone have a fix for this issue?
Update your CWM to above version 6 then try again.

Okay thanks, I installed version 6.0.1.4 I believe, now it says I have to wait 14 hours to check for updates again............I tried to update with Kies and I got this message.
Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies.
Current firmware version : PDA:LEM / PHONE:LH1 / CSC:LEM (XXX)
Is there a workaround? Or a ROM I can just flash onto my phone with Odin? I'm assuming it's because i'm rooted.
OTAs cannot be installed when you have a custom recovery. Check the dev section for a large selection of ROMs flashable via CWM or Odin.

SOLVED!
Funny, The problem was that the battery was under 50%...
Yeah Odin is your best bet. Download the latest firmware from Samsung website and you will have the update and will not have to worry bout this anymore!
You will lose root though so prepare to do that again. Maybe try a different method if your first attempt caused problems.

Is it a Tmobile phone? or Wind or Mobilicity variant?
Is it rooted? How did you root?
Did you try installing a different recovery manager to flash roms with?
Did you try Odin?
Did you bring it back to 100% factory to try fresh from scratch?

its a tmobile phone. i rooted with Samsung GS3 tool kit. yes i tried using twrp and cwmr and both give me an install fail.
Try using Mobile Odin to flash.
Also you could use MrRobinsons root66 UVALH2 with odin to go back to factory stock but rooted. Then install your recovery and try again.

I believe this happened because this line in build.prop was changed:
ro.product.device=d2tmo
It couldve been changed by the rom dev, a mod, or you may have changed it to gain compatibility for the play store, or other app.
If you see that again, look for that line in build.prop and make sure its d2tmo.
It could be something entirely different, as well. But thats the first place id look.

i want update my phone to 4.2.1 jelly , via sd card but i getting error always signature failed . please tell me how to update. with out any errors.
I'm guessing it's a Samsung Galaxy S. The latest official firmware is 2.3.6 gingerbread. Is your phone rooted? Have you installed CWM? If yes, try redownloading the .zip file again. If that doesn't help you can go to the Galaxy S thread.

I was trying to install the Simplistic Control app but I don't know how to flash the framework zip. I tried via recovery mode. Just selected "apply update from external storage", select the zip files but got the following error:
"E: Signature verification failed"
What's going on?
Thanks in advance!
Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100 with stock rom rooted
Jelly Beam 4.1.2
You need to have cwm or mobile Odin to flash it
For cwm - flash philz recovery then you will able to flash it
Or
Download mobile Odin and use ota/update zip option to flash it.

Sorry for the question, but how can I flash the Philz Recovery? Via Odin?
Could you please indicate me te latest version for the N7100 (Philz Recovery)? I search (and found) but its a little bit complex for me. I just have to make sure.
I have the stock rom already rooted.
Tks.

Alright i'm in a pickle, tonight I was about to flash to CM 10.1.2 however when I rooted my phone I didnt update to the latest CWM. I've already wiped Data/ factory reset but when try to flash to CM 10.1.2 I get assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "d2att' ||getprop("ro.build.product") == "d2att" (Status 7)
I understand I need to update CWM but how can I if I have no rom on the device currently. Whenever I try to reboot I just get the andrid guy with the red triangle on top of him and it sends me back to CWM.
Should I just pull the battery and put it in Download mode to update CWM? I don't even know if i'd be able to get into download mode 0.0 please help.
Thanks
Try to install cwm using adb method and flash the Rom

Oden back to stock. Start the root process over. If you have an old version of cwm use rom manager from playstore to update before you format system.
You could also update cwm using adb sideload but sometimes the drivers are hard to get going.
You're in the wrong section.

Thanks that worked perfectly, I also found that I needed to just clear the cache partition and download rom manager from the play store and updated CWM
