The thing i get is that CDMA doesnt use SIM card and GSM NEEDS SIM cards.
What will happen if a CDMA One v rom is flashed onto a gsm One V???
Someone please tell me b4 i do something REEHIHIHIIIIIALLY(a litle Jim Carrey ) STOOOOPID
Soft-hard brick, really hard to fix. However changing ruu's will brick you forever. There are gsm to CDMA converters for suprimo ROMs but that's the only converter i have seen so far for the one v

if I helped you don't say thanks, click it!
Then is there a way to conver the CDMA rom to GSM?
If you accidentally flash cdma to gsm or vice versa, there will be a soft brick(but not too soft),but if you interchange RUUs,you have made yourself a nice paperweight.

Yeah I have had my htc one v soft bricked for the last few days, I have tried so many times to fix it with no luck(but I must say I have been learning a lot ) Then this morning I did a full wipe even my sd and flashed the suprimo v30 and flashed boot.img. the good news is that it got past boot screen however it was gsm and could not get past lock screen without sim lol. I'm just starting the process over again but I'm going to try flashing suprimo converter after installing rom and befor flashing boot.img.
If anyone could help me out with info or what not I would appreciate it, and if this works Ill post again
Thanks

The CDMA paranoid ROM I posted is 1ceb0x's gsm ROM flashed on a CDMA phone. Not all things will hurt, just be careful what you flash. Like everyone is saying though, font flash a gsm ruu on a CDMA, or vice versa.

If the rom is created/compiled correctly, you shouldn't be able to flash CDMA roms on GSM version...
You should just gets an error in Recovery, due to device model specifies in the rom does not match with your device.
Just put the right kernel, rom and gapps into your MicroSD... and flash again in recovery
CDMA > PrimoC
GSM > PrimoU
So now I'm able to get the roms working but for some reason only wifi doesn't work gerrrrrrr.
Any one have any advice?

The only difference in custom ROMs for our phones is a line in the updater-script. A change from primoc to primou or vice versa is the only difference it makes what ROM flashes on what. Its not how the ROM is compiled that makes the difference, as the libs are 100% the same with a one letter difference. Apns.conf and a few other things might need changed for correct operation, but other than that its good.
Ruu's are the difference. They use cid for flashing to certain models. That and different radios. Each carrier has a certain cid, and the only way to flash a ruu with one cid on a different carrier phone with a different cid is s-off.
So long story short, if you flash a gsm one v custom ROM on a CDMA one v, flash a CDMA kernel lol. It will most likely boot. (If you do this and something breaks though, don't blame me. I didn't flash it, you did.)

Entirely possible.

Good afternoon gents,
Quite frankly I'm a bit baffled. I haven't trouble flashing different kernels on different models but the HOX from Rogers takes the cake. I've tried to flash 2 kernel from the DEV section and EACH TIME I ended with a HTC Quite brilliant logo and it just loops after 10seconds or so. Can't seem to flash a kernel that will go beyond that stage.
Anyone care to share any lights? I mean I've read through the forum enough, I've just recovered from 3 soft bricks from flashing kernels... what am I missing?

The Rogers HOX has a different processor than the International model (by the way you're in the International HOX forum). The Rogers HOX has a dual core snapdragon S4, while the International model has a quad core Tegra 3. Kernels from this forum will only work with the Tegra 3 chipset. Check out the AT&T HOX forum, that's the one you want.

Did you boot into fast boot then use
fastboot flash boot boot.IMG
fastboot erase cache
Then boot into recovery and flash the zip?

I have a CDMA Virgin Mobile HTC One V. I decided to root it yesterday to get a jelly bean mod. Well things didn't work out so well.I used Hasoon2000's all in one kit, unlocked my bootloader and recovery(TWRP CDMA 2.1.0) then proceeded to try 4 different ROMs and Kernels (PACman, CM10, CM9, AOKP) and they all booted perfectly. After the boot though, the phone will work perfectly for approx. 10 seconds and then freeze and reboot. . Please help.
You most likely have the new radio, install the old RUU(the one with Sprint in the name) to get the old radio version. Then you'll be able to install ROMs and kernels.
Sounds just like what riggerman0421 said http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013489&highlight=ota

Development seems fragmented between all the different carriers.. even with a deodexed stock rooted rom are things "designed" for other carriers not compatible with my Sprint device?
Is it a matter of n7100 vs n7105? Or gsm/lte?

You will probably brick your device flashing another carrier ROM. I say probably as I know of no one willing to experiment on our rather expensive device.

There are some "ports" that have been done between carriers. Know your carrier and flash only roms designed for or ported to that carrier.
All will run on sprint's variant. The radios may be compatible with the ROM with a few mods here and there. You can flash other stock ROMs. Just flash sprint's kernel with another carriers. You'll see a mostly functioning ROM. Only issues are radio related.

I'd proceed here with caution. I've heard of borked boot/kernel image or worse hboot damage requiring either replacement or j tag service. YMMV.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like it's only a matter of radio compatibility when flashing ROMs. If I flash stock sprint radios and a kernel made specifically for the L900 (stock or otherwise) I should be okay based on what I see here.
So it's only ROMs that are in question here? If there's a .zip mod for status bar, camera, gallery, etc, I shouldn't need to worry about what model it's for? Including n7105 international variant .zips -- I see no reason why that shouldn't work. These are all essentially the same device sans connectivity.
I don't mind flashing sketchy things, been doing that for years and haven't had a hard brick yet -- it's actually hard to do. I just want to know what the facts are about what is known to work or not work.

NOT TRUE AT ALL...........if you flash an international variant rom, while you may get it to boot (doubtful), you will not have service and your IMEI/Baseband will be gone d/t the fact that the partitions are slightly different between the variants. the only fix for this is flashing a stock tar that will re-write your partitions and restore to stock. and it simply isnt as simple as just changing the partitions and kernel either.
so no, DO NOT FLASH other carrier variant roms to the Sprint variant
I flashed a att rom and a tmo theme to mine with success.and by success I mean didnt brick. Now as far as booting thats a diff story. The tmo theme booted with problems and the att rom just bootlooped. But as far as I know the partitions layout is the same(not counting the intl'. I havent looked yet) so i think ur safe to experiment with the average rom. I would check to make sure theres no radio or bootloader and you should be fine.

Open the zip and be sure the only things you see are boot.img, META-INF, and system. If so, flash and reboot. If it bootloops, plug in and use adb to run a logcat to see why it won't boot and attempt fix it. A kernel is not enough to brick you unless it gets flashed over the wrong partition. Which I don't believe is a concern here since the partitions are the same across all the note ii's.

The CSC data needs to be replaced. The kernel should be fine. Some of the etc files should probably be replaced. The build.prop needs to be edited for Sprint/cdma.
Check the install script and compare it to sprints to make sure there arent any partitions being formatted differently. I have used a few different at&t roms on mine by doing the above.

i was referring to the international versions as was specifically stated in the post. even if you change the boot.img to the proper one it will not flash properly to the phone because the partitions are different on the INT version.
the US variants all have the same partitions and will flash properly with the carrier specific kernel minus a few bugs here and there. and doing what shiftr182 said will usually get rid of any other bugs.

Hi my wife has a One V with stock everything. It keeps freezing up and takes up to 1 minute just to open a new text message.
The phone has never been rooted or modified in any way.
I tried rebooting it, doesn't change anything. She does not have many apps installed at all from the market, maybe 1 or 2.
The way I fixed it last time was back up all of her sms and call log and setting and I did a factory reset.
This solved the problem but the phone was slowing getting worse and worse and now it is almost impossible to use it.
Is this a know issue? Is there an easy fix for it? Or maybe the only option is to root and install a custom rom for her.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks
I do indeed give you the advice to install a custom rom. This is a known issue with the stock rom.

Great I had a feeling it was ROM related. Since I have no experience with One V, can anyone suggest a good how to guide to unlocking boot loader, and rooting, and installing CWMR on this phone. Every device is different so it is like leaning all over again for each phone.
oh yeah any rom suggestions? Not sure if I should give her a stock based sense rom or AOSP / CM. Personally I love AOSP Jelly Bean 4.2 on my S2 because I hate Samsung bloat on my phone.
thanks alot.
Personally I would recommend 4.1 or 4.2 depends if she needs the functions that are still missing from 4.2 (biggest one being camera I think) if she wants sense I recommend suprimo. As for a guide, there are some as a sticky in one of the sub forums (I think their in general)
Sent from my HTC One V using xda premium
I suggest you look for provision or pacman 19.3 in cdma (from what I can assume your CDMA) they have 5mp camera which is what the stock camera has. Note: the difference for flashing between a Samsung s2 and our device is we have to take the boot.img from the ROM.zip we DL and flash it in fast boot (thing before you enter recovery) after we flash the .zip in recovery
I recommend twrp recovery also because i find it easier to navigate
ONE MORE THING:
Power + down vol to get to fast boot and tell us what radio you have.
IF it ends in .0928 your going to get boot loops if you flash a JB ROM simple fix I'll tell you if it does because it is a complex process.
However if our radio ends in anything else you should be fine (htc had an ota that upgraded radio and it fked things up).

I've never been very tech-y with this stuff, and now I'm having problems with mine. I don't understand the ROMs or anything. I don't want to void the warranty or anything.
Well assuming the rules here. You can't install a rom here. Because for that you have to unlock the bootloader and doing that voids the warranty.

Could it possibly be related to the radio not updating? Is there any way around that. Bootloader is s on.

CDMA should flash

not
