[Q] Mobile Odin Pro Fail - Help! - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my GT-N7105 using CWM6 and desktop Odin when I got it. I wanted to update to 4.1.2 without losing Root, so I decided to use Mobile Odin Pro with the EverRoot feature turned on.
I downloaded the new ROM to the root of the device (not the external SD card) and set Mobile Odin to install the new ROM and retain Root.
The device rebooted to the Mobile Odin icon, and then nothing... can't reboot, can't seem to recover, every time I try anything, it just reverts to the Mobile Odin icon.
Any Help?
How can I restore my phone?

Hi mate, I would suggest you to use the odin from desktop and flash a stock rom and then try rooting again using odin from desktop with cf-autoroot.

With a little more searching, I discovered I had a broken cache. Installed a fix using desktop odin and am back where I started. When I get home later will try flashing a stock rom.
Do I need to use triangleaway first?

Broken cache was issue with very old recovery by chenglu, (i think that is already removed)
If so then just flash CF auto root package it should solve.
BTW what option you are selecting to flash ROM with Mobile Odin?

My unit is running 4.1.1 rooted with cwm6. I wanted to update to 4.1.2 and retain root. I downloaded the correct new rom for my carrier (Starhub in Singapore) from sammobile and extracted it to the root of my phone, then opened the file using Odin Mobile and told it to flash with EverRoot enabled.
That's where the process died and I was left with the Odin Mobile android logo frozen on my phone.
After unplugging and trying to reboot - it kept goign to the Odin Mobile logo so I rebooted into recovery mode and tried Odin Desktop to flash the Rom - no luck.
Then tried Odin Desktop with the cache fix I found earlier and that reset everything as if I hadn't started this process.
Now I'm unsure how to proceed.
Should I unroot, flash the stock rom then re-root? If so to flash the stock rom (using Desktop Odin, I assume), do I need to reset the counter? Using Triangleaway?
Am new to this phone so am not sure how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

First you check you have latest Mobile odin, if it happens with that too, do this
As per OP, you have CWM so your counter will be already 1 or more.
Simply flash new ROM with PC odin.(though it won't raise counter)
Reroot with Cf auto root.(this will raise flash counter)
Install triangle away and reset counter.
before doing this backup your important data, though above mention method won't erase anything, but in any step if you get bootloops, you may need to factory reset and that will erase data.

I've got it figured, I reckon.
I installed the new rom using Odin, then rooted using CF-Auto-Root
All seems well.
Thanks for the replies - I probably should have been a little more patient and worked it out myself!

I have a noob question about flashing custom ROMs

To unroot the phone what I usually do is after running the triangle away app, I do a complete wipe(all wipes on the phone from recovery) and flash the Stock ROM from the computer using Desktop Odin.
I was wondering what happens, if I have a stock unrooted phone, and I try flashing a custom ROM using desktop Odin?? WIll it work anyways or possibly brick the phone(or wont allow me to flash at all)?
The reason I ask is every thread talk abt flashing custom ROM's using custom recovery or mobile odin after rooting the phone.
Thanks
I also have a question I tryed to update my software on captivate glide att but I rooted my phone so I could not. Anyway I messed some things up reset the phone then I went to re install several apps and now my phone says device isn't compatible with this version when I just tryed to install from back up and it faild so I tryed from the market place and kept getting that error. Idk what to do.

Odin flashes TAR files, not ZIP files. You should only need Odin to flash stock.
You shouldn't need Triangle Away if you rooted following the instructions that can be found on these boards.
From what I understand, you cannot flash a custom rom without having CWM installed.
I could be wrong... I flashed Blazin ROM to my phone yesterday but then reverted back to
the backup (Nandroid) I had made prior. Playstore wouldn't work and I can't figure out what
gapps I need to get it going.
I agree with the guys above. In order to flash custom ROMs you'll need CWM installed to do so. Once you boot into recovery it should take you to CWM. From there, you can flash the zip files only.

[Q] Unable to boot into CWM?..

I flashed stock 4.1.2 via Mobile Odin and performed root on-the-fly. Then I tried to flash CWM via Odin but all it did was set the counter flag to '1' and just boot into the default recovery.
What did I do wrong? How can I fix this?
-EDIT: I tried to flash CWM via Mobile Odin instead of PC Odin and it worked! The problem is that my first attempt via PC Odin switched the counter to '1' already... Triangle Away didn't work for me - how can I reset the counter again? It's problematic because I can only go into CWM by flashing it with Mobile Odin and then it auto-reboots into CWM but what if for whatever reason I can't access Mobile Odin?.....
Triangle away also doesnt work for me. Even though I flashed stock kernel and recovery.

you need to have stock recovery , stock kernel and secure stock boot image and a stock recovery reset file(i guess).
then you should try using triangle away
I don't particularly care about Triangle Away because I managed to flash CWM with Mobile Odin and then restore an older nandroid.
The problem is that I must use Mobile Odin each time I want to go into CWM - I don't want this. I want CWM to be my phone's default recovery.
Delete the following file or rename it.
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Or use mskip's toolkit to delete recovery reset files.

Thanks, I will check out that toolkit, it looks promising.
Maybr hit the thanks button itself.

Right, I don't care much about petty illusions.
Also, disregard everything - I'm a bloody fool. I kept trying to boot CWM by doing the Volume Down+Menu+Power buttons but only now I realized that to go into CWM, you need to use Volume UP+Menu+power.... Feel free to lock this thread.

was able to install a custom recovery after the first time but now can't

I was able to install custom recovery the first time i rooted my new 4.1.2 device, now after trying dn3 rom and reflashing between different FACTORY firmware flashes from 4.1.1 back to 4.1.2 several times i am unable to install any custom recovery through odin. Also tried using goo manager method for twrp.
Triangle away does not work for me.
I used stock recovery wipe /delete /wipe cache after every single time, with no luck to fix. Every time I try installing cwm or twrp(goo manager) it reboots as if everything is fine but still goes back to stock recovery. My binary count is around 12 now.
Am i doing something wrong?
This is the first time i encountered this. I have a t-mobile t889.
thanks
Do you get error message using odin, are you using the latest odin

Slow down.
Flashing FACTORY Firmwares UN-roots your device.
So you'll need to re-root it. The easier method, since youre using Odin, is to grab one of the Root Injected Firmwares found in the Developmet thread (its pinned. Find Mr.Robinsons Thread)
Once its successful you can flash the recovery and clear your counts.

Downgrade Note 2 from 4.3 to 4.1.2

Downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.2. I have done this with 100% Success
If you are having any problem in 4.3 like back and menu buttons ( capacitive buttons) not working or any other issues.
BACKUP everything. (Important)
Turn ON USB Debugging mode and Unknown sources.
First ROOT your phone.
(FOR N7100 Note 2 use CF-Auto root, here is the link.
http://download.chainfire.eu/264/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-t03g-t03gxx-gtn7100.zip
NOTE: Knox and Binary Counters will get Triggered and your Warranty will be VOID.
Donwload CF-Auto root to your computer. Then boot your phone into Download mode. Open Odin. Connect your phone to computer. Click PDA and load CF-Auto root and click Start button. Let the process finish and your phone will reboot. You will see SuperSU icon on your phone).
Open Playstore and Update SuperSU. Open SuperSU and it will give a message to disable KNOX. Click YES/Ok.
Then install Titanium backup root from Playstore. Open it, go to backup/restore tab.
Find,
1.com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation
2.com.sec.knox.eventsmanager
3.KLMS Agent
4.KNOX
5.Knox Notification Manager
6.KNOX Store
Go to each one of it and Uninstall them.
Next restart your phone.
*VERY IMPORTANT* Now Backup your efs folder by using EFS Professional on you computer. OR any other efs backup App on phone and copy efs backup files to an External sdcard or pc.
(Link: http://d-h.st/Gfo ). Because your imei number will be changed after downgrading. You can easily restore it later.
Now install Mobile Odin Pro from Playstore on your phone. Here is the link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro
*IMPORTANT* DO NOT flash firmware for downgrading with Computer Odin as it will NOT work and it will FAIL. *ONLY Mobile Odin Pro from Playstore will work.
Copy your 4.1.2 firmware to your phone. Next Open Mobile Odin Pro on your phone and let it download some necessary files from internet.
When done, click on Open file and select the firmware. After loading the firmware scroll down and UNCHECK EverRoot (because it cause problems). Then click on FLASH Firmware.
*IMPORTANT* If your phone get stuck on samsung logo. Go into recovery mode by pressing Home+Power+Volume UP keys together for 15 seconds. Click Factory wipe/data and then Wipe Cache. Then Reboot.
Now check your imei by *#06#. If imei is changed then restore it from EFS Professional.
Thanks!, really helpful.
For those trying to flash firmware you can't use a .zip has to be a .tar.md5
Many thanks! Worked for me on Note 2 LTE N7105. Cheers!
Thanks very good my friend +++
"Click PDA and load CF-Auto root and click Start button. Let the process finish and your phone will reboot."
This part does not work on my GT-N7100.
Followed step by step and it when clicking Start it instantly states Succeeded 0/0 Failed 0/0. After this Play Store said SuperSU was installed on the device, but the application was not installed on the device. I had to try to manually install it from Play Store which worked but obviously it can't do anything because KNOX or something is still blocking it. Yes I was definitely in Download mode.
I've disabled KNOX and removed everything as a device admin except for Samsung Kies. All I want is to go through the supposed simply step by step Cyanogen install and I'm hitting roadblocks at almost every turn. For some reason I can't update to the latest policy when prompted during the installation because either it can't connect to the server or because I am already on the latest policy. Attempted clearing all this and resetting it but to no avail.
EDIT: Weirdly this seems to be working now. Waiting on Get PIT for mapping... Will see how this goes.
This actually worked unbelievably well!
I've got a N7105 on 4.4.2, I downgraded to 4.3 via odin then went on to try downgrading to 4.1.2 via odin which results in errors everytime.
Following these instructions I successfully downgraded to 4.1.2 with no problems and my phone is once again running great, great batt life and error free 4.1.2 roms.
Many Thanks @ Baller231!

Need serious help unrooting/fixing my Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-1747

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T and for about a year and a half always wanted to root it but had no idea how. I had an iPhone a while back and used to jailbreak it I became an expert at it. Rooting is not so easy compared at least with the problems I've been experiencing
I started by watching hundreds of root videos and ended up rooting it with Odin and Kit Kat tar file im not sure of the specific file but I'm almost 100% it was my version 4.4.2 that I flashed.
After I did this I downloaded the basics and tried to get TWRP but gooManager wasnt working for some reason.
I tried to flash the Cyanongen 11 onto my phone using the installer for the comp and on google play store and it worked up until the end I got the dead droid symbol for a bit and it finished downloading to show the "ROM may flash stock recover on boot. Fix?" error message and I selected no and "Root Access Possibly Lost Fix?" I also selected no. My phone booted with no custom rom still rooted and most of my apps are unresponsive and close randomly except facebook and youtube.
I decided I wanted to return it to stock rom and try again but when I downloaded the stock tar file and tried to flash it I got this
I'm not sure what to do because I cant return it to stock rom, clockmod recovery has stopped working, and every video I watch about how to fix it is only making it worse.
If you have any idea what I can do or what I'm doing wrong let me know.
Odin failed because you cannot flash older firmware. Your best bet is to reflash recovery via Odin, then if you want stock go to enewman17's stock rom/system dump thread in development and flash the rom and factory reset.

I tried to flash cwm recovery onto my phone usb debugging selected and now odin doesnt even show that my phones recognized. This is so frustrating.
I suggest installing Philz Touch recovery via Odin and using Philz to flash a custom ROM to at least get your phone up and running.

If Kies is on your computer, remove it. Have you tried reinstalling drivers?
