It may be in data. It won't be called anything like your song, artist or album names

I've got nothing at all in /data? Do I somehow have wrong data folder?

You need root access to read /data

Found the bastards. Astro was no good (even though phone has root privelages could not figure out how to give them to Astro), so used ES File Explorer and was allowed to enabled root privelages. /data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music

App Data

I was wondering if there is anyway I can see my app data. Like lets say I have Pinball and I wanted to find my app data that had like my highscores in it, where it be or how would I find it? I have my Evo rooted also.
Why do you want to find it? To back it up?
All app data is in /data/data/<package name>/ or somewhere on the SD card (/sdcard/data/, etc.)

You can use adb shell, or a file manager like OI File Manager or Root Explorer.

[Q] Where is game / app data stored / folder location in Ice Cream Sandwich ICS

Where is game / app data stored / folder location in Ice Cream Sandwich ICS?
In GB, it was stored in: /data/data/
But that folder is empty in ICS?
I'm trying to find a way to backup the progress of all my games before having to reset the device in order to root it.
I think you need to use root explorer to copy and paste the file somewhere else so you have access to it. Don't know for sure.

My phone is not rooted but I did installed ES Explorer from the market and it does let me look at system folders.
I looked in the /data/data folder where game/app data is usually stored/located but it was empty?

Shameless plug, but I have a guide for this here
If you have a specific game you want to back up, you can just do a command such as:
adb backup com.zeptolab.ctr-paid /backup/cutTheRopeBackup.ab
Click to collapse
If you add the flag -apk to the command, it'll back up the APK as well. Basically, just add the package names in order that you would like to back up (the downside to this is that you have to know the full package names for the apps), or just do a -all backup to backup everything.
Thanks! Still will be nice to know where Google moved /data/data/ to in Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)

I am rooted. I looked in /data/data/ and that folder is empty on the Gnex, but on the Evo3D, there are tons of folders where the APK's have stored their app data.
YOu need Root explorer by Speedsoftware for this!!
It is still stored in /Data/Data
Use TT backup/Root Explorer and don't forget to remount as R/W!!!!

Have you looked in /data/app-private?

I have since, been rooted!
I am looking for the data in my phone but I can't found it,
My phone is rooted,
In the root folder I have and data folder, but is empty,
I also have an datadata folder and is also empty.
I have the OI file manager.
There's apps for that lol
EDIT : I forgot but it backups your data as well.
I use App Backup Restore by INFOLIFE religiously every flash, I actually back them up to an external HD because of the numerous times I'd forget and flash anyways.
And as for your actual question mine are located in /sdcard/Android/data/
I use Root Explorer and File Manager(free) and they both seem to work great when it comes to locating files howeverrrr! I did just come across a bug myself, I usually ADB my game data files with no problem but when I tried a big file size (ie. The dark knight rises), it said it was on the phone (settings/storage) but I couldn't find the file for the life of me with any file manager which resulted in a re-flash. I hope you have better luck!

You all need to keep in mind that the SD card is simulated! As are most of those folders.

Also the root directory for games/apps is usually data/data/(appname) sorry didn't realize it saved in two directories.

Can't see files

I can access my Clockwork Mod files via my Gnex, but they are not accessible when trying to copy to my PC. I see the device, I can see the CWM folder, but no backup folder exists. I can see everything else on the device. Tried coping the files to the root with no success. I have been able to access this files in the past.
Ideas?
I haven't had a problem specifically with CWM files, but changing the folder options on my PC (inside the Galaxy Nexus folders) to "show hidden files" usually did the trick...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Small chance, but look in your "clockworkmod" folder and its subfolders and see if there are a file called ".nomedia" which would cause the folder contents to be hidden when connected to the PC in MTP mode.
You can also use the app AirDroid to transfer files through WiFi.

I'm pretty sure that's a solution to the opposite problem. Hence, the files are showing up on the computer and phone file manager, but not in the apps. The .nomedia file tells the apps not to scan the specific folder they're sitting in. For example, yesterday my friends Galaxy Mini wasn't showing any pics in the gallery app or music in the music app, even though they clearly existed on the phone (via file manager and when hooked up to the PC). Deleted the .nomedia file and <insert sound effect here (I.E."BAM!"> all was good.

Thanks for the assistance, but no luck. Using Airdroid at the moment, but is is slower than slow.
Any other ideas are appreciated.

Try Local Sync, it easy and fast.
Thanks
Thanks. Local Sync doesn't seem to be much quicker. Can't find the option to sync one folder only, so it is syncing my entire CWM folder.
Question still stands why the heck I can't see those files via my PC.

Have tried reboots o both PC and phone. Also tried a different PC. Very strange that i can see everything else.
I could try to restore from a previous CWM backup and see if I am able to copy.
Any luck using adb?

ADB command line is a bit out of my scope. Maybe I'll take a shot at it later. Installed a previous CWM BU, but no success.

[Q] Nandroid Backup location

Hey guys I can't seem to physically locate my nandroid backups. I know its usually located in some folder /clockworkmod/backup/DATESTAMP but ever since the 4.2 update with the multi user thing it seems to be missing. I am already using the latest version of CWM.
I've used root explorer and i've looked in all of:
/storage/emulated/0
/storage/emulated/legacy
/storage/sdcard0
Essentially all the Nandroids i've done have taken up all of the space within my phone and I can't seem to do anything anymore :/
Look in a folder called SDcard... Mine stored there for some reason

on 4.2.2, but don't see /0

Probably need education on this. I'Rve been reading about /0 directories on 4.2.2 ROMS, and in searching found a comment about each time you update, you bet another /0 under /0.
What I've read is that it is on sdcard.
I go into ES File Explorer, go all the way up in the directoroy structure, and then to device, then to sdcard, and I do not find a 0 directory.
I'm on Liquid Smooth, which is a 4.2.2 ROM.
Not sure what else to search on to get this figured out.

If you wipe properly you won't get multiple/0 folders.
A lot of the good file explorers don't show the /0 they show as sdcard0

Thanks so much.
I now do see that when I expand at the left in ES there is a 0 and and sdcard1. And when I go to device root, then into sdcard, I guess it's taking me to 0. A bit confusing.
Well the internal sdcard is labeled as sdcard0, nit to be confused with the /0 folder. The 0 folder is actually located in data/media/0, while on tw ROMS, the internal sd stores stuff one level up in data/media.

Hmmm....When I go into ES File Explorer, and then to Device, then Data, the Data folder is empty. My show hidden files setting is turned on.
Am I missing something?
did you manually give ES File Explorer root permissions? this was my biggest and longest troubleshoot step i had.
Yeah, you need root permissions to even see that stuff. Good catch

or... only use root explorer. None of that manually having to give root permissions and you always start at the root directory. There's nothing better
Some ppl don't like paying for apps. If I had known es had root capability, I would probably not have Root Explorer

That's it. I've used ES for quite a while, and this newer version does not ask for root permissions, unless you select to go to root explorer tool. I didn't realize that.
On topic of Root Explorer, I do own it too, but haven't used for a long time. I like how ES allows hooking to PCs, etc. Of course, for all I know, maybe Root Explorer does that now too.
Thanks folks, I appreciate the help.

I like the ability to change r/w on the fly and the ability to zip and unzip within the app.
