USB OTG isn't possible on our Desire HD (Well, it was possible on Froyo Sense ROMs) but I believe the Devs are working on it

[Q] USB OTG on DHD

I am having an external powered 2TB Hard Disk .. After a long search i start this thread. i like to connect that HDD to my Desire HD. I dint find any satisfactory answers from other thread.
And even this stupid Nokia N8 has USB OTG .. I know DHD can do that also but how ? help me i checked it by connecting DHD with Nokia's CA-157 i dint see any thing in my phone. running Stock ROM Gingerbread ..
It is not possible without a special kernel and manual installing of OTG modules. Pretty advanced stuff, you will need root & S-OFF to do that.
Thanks. What r the things to do?. I need only my pendrive to work. I have gone to the posts where they are working for to accept keyboards webcams etc. I have s-off radio-off clockworkmod installed running LeeDroid ROM

[Q] Upgraded to Leedroid v4 and cannot connect to pc

Hi,
I've searched all over and cannot finf an answer to my problem??? I have just upgraded to Leedroid v4 and everything works beautifully except I can no longer connect to my pc. It is recognized in device manager but the phone doesn't come up with splash asking how I want to connect it, and so I can't use it as a disk drive. The phone still charges though? I have tried ticking and unticking the ask and usb debugging options.
I don't really want to flash back to an older rom but if that the only way ill have to, can anybody help please????????/
I'm sorry, there is no way in hell you have searched all over. It's one of the most known bugs in the version 4 beta from Lee. It's on pretty much every page in the dedicated thread.
This is what you do. Either download Auto mount from Market OR change kernel to Unity's or Lord's. Both those kernels have fixed the USB connection problem.
Thanks for that. I searched the term not connecting to pc on this forum and google and didn't realise it was a mounting thing!
Np mate. You are most welcome.
i Too was looking for the same thing. Thanks a lot mate
The kernel was updated by Lee, you can try the new one from his thread (see my sig). New rom version should come this week.
Sent from Desire HD using XDA app.

[Q] Jelly Bean OTG not working.

Hello, I've searched for days and can't seem to find anyone with a similar problem to mine, so I'll make this thread.
A couple weeks ago I recieved Jelly Bean (4.1.1) on my HTC One X, and it looks like USB-devices should work, because under settings -> storage (I have norwegian language, so I don't know if it translates to storage in english, but I think it does) it has "USB-storage" at the bottom. I have connected a USB-stick (FAT32) to the phone via an OTG-cable (or so I am told it is, I'm just getting started with these things).
I read somewhere, probably here that some people got it working after they got Jelly Bean, so I'm wondering; why doesn't it work for me?
I rather not root the phone or install custom ROMs, but if it's the only option, I will consider it.
Sorry if I overlooked something obvious in my desperate search, please help me.
Pretty sure the only option is to root it mate.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong !!
But you need a way to mount the device, with either an app or kernel that supports it.
Such as StickMount, but you need root.
Goodluck.

Ok, so i had stock ICS, and upgrade to stock JB, never rooted, and OTG is working just fine! First you need cable with OTG suport or adapter (i use micro to female usb OTG adapter (see picture) so i can directly plug my usb (16 GB FAT32) without any cables), and second you need file manager with OTG support , i tray Astro file manager an he can find all files on usb stick! I have used several other file manager without luck, maybe now they work with updates or somethig, but im not sure!

[Q] USB Mass Storage once again.

Hi guys,
First of all i read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002410&page=3 and many other threads trying to find a solution to my problem which is enabling USB Mass Storage on my LG E975 device. None of proposed solutions worked for me, i dont want to use workaround this problem. I just want my phone to be able to work as usb mass storage generic device without need to install any new software or drivers on pc station. I tried many applications, commands and even to use CWM bootloader option, none of those work. Im using CyanogenMod 10.2 stable version but it seems that it has no UMS Support so probably i need ROM/Kernel with ums support. Problem is that im not common with Android modifications and custom ROMs so here are several questions:
1. How i can find and flash stable ROM/kernel with UMS support with Android 4.2+ or newer for my E975?
1.1 Is there a way to flash only kernel? Is that operation safe? How to do that?
2 I read in mentioned thread that enabling UMS on E975 can be a little problematic from a technical point of view, so is there any application that can share just one selected directory using UMS? I guess i still need to have Kernel with UMS support.
Sorry for my english and ignorance if i missed some information that was announced here or somewhere else im just trying to solve this problem for around 4 days without success

E. Smorgasbord of ROMs and Kernels : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543176
2.yes you can flash only kernels(if that rom supports..) its safe as long you are doing it in right way. flashing kernels is same as flashing rom.. except that you dont need to do a factory reset.. instead wipe cahe and dalvic cache is enough...
3. i didnt get your point actually.. on all the roms mentioned above if have installed drivers once you dont need to install again for each rom...
:good: ..

USB host for desire hd?

Hello,
I just bought a On-The-Go USB memory stick and I'd like to see if I can use it on my Desire HD to transfer files, music, etc...
After doing some searching and a bit of reading, I found u need USB host mode drivers.
Currently I have CM11 BR4 rom, am S-Off, and my recovery is TWRP 2.7.10.
Anyone has any input on this?

Go download SVHD rom. I believe it has OTG present by default.
Download it from Here

Thx. Too bad the rom you mentioned has been discontinued.
And I am happy with the current rom I have to switch to another one at the moment just to get the USB host option.
