Hi,
I've searched all over and cannot finf an answer to my problem??? I have just upgraded to Leedroid v4 and everything works beautifully except I can no longer connect to my pc. It is recognized in device manager but the phone doesn't come up with splash asking how I want to connect it, and so I can't use it as a disk drive. The phone still charges though? I have tried ticking and unticking the ask and usb debugging options.
I don't really want to flash back to an older rom but if that the only way ill have to, can anybody help please????????/
I'm sorry, there is no way in hell you have searched all over. It's one of the most known bugs in the version 4 beta from Lee. It's on pretty much every page in the dedicated thread.
This is what you do. Either download Auto mount from Market OR change kernel to Unity's or Lord's. Both those kernels have fixed the USB connection problem.
Thanks for that. I searched the term not connecting to pc on this forum and google and didn't realise it was a mounting thing!
Np mate. You are most welcome.
i Too was looking for the same thing. Thanks a lot mate
The kernel was updated by Lee, you can try the new one from his thread (see my sig). New rom version should come this week.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone can help me here.
I have a Defy, its sim free and unbranded and have been told that I will need to flash it to put CM7 or other ROMs on.
So I downloaded v4.9 and have turned the handset off and hold up while rebooting.
I followed the instruction and put the USB cable in but for some reason it will not pick the phone up properly or let me try to flash it.
It has pinged up that it has installed the USB Flash drivers.
So wondering if you guys can help?

Was told this would be an easier way!!
Have managed to install the root and the backup but cant get the rest of it to work properly.
Tried about 3-4 times and just too complicated.
I had a similar problem using 4.9 on my desktop. Not sure what the deal was. Went and used my wife's notebook with no problem. I ended up going to 4.7 on my desktop and have had no problems since.
Uninstall/reinstall rsdlite and get latest driver. Or try diff usb cable .
Try also running rsd as admin

Hi guys, I can no longer connect my phone to a PC.
I've tried two different machines with no job.
I've also tried two different usb cables with no joy
I have upgraded to Leeroids Rom
USB debug is enabled.
The phone is charging when plugged in.
HTC Sync is installed, but I can't use as a disk drive or anything.
When I plugged it into this laptop for the first time, it installed all of the drivers but said
"Android phone - no driver found". So installed HTC sync which said it was installing the usb driver.
I'm totally trumped as device manager seems to think it's connected, but i'm not getting anywhere.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Andy
have you tried with the USB Debug Disabled
Aha, just tried that and it made the PC install new drivers. But still no pop up on the device asking what I want to do. And HTC sync still doesn't find a device.
What rom are you using? I try going to setting connect to pc and un-check ask me every time I connect then set which ever you want as default after you set it up connect to the pc

Cheers mate,
I've tried every option in the list, and restarted both the desire Hd and the laptop.
No result yet
You have to mount the SD.
Sorry I don't know your rom (I'm with MIUI) but just connected the SD the phone is not as a "USB key".
Look in the setting to put your phone in "mass storage" or something like this.
Sure someone with a sense ROM can explain it.
Edit: if you have done the above:
Disconnect the usb from the phone, blow hard on the phone usb connector. It could be just some dust in it
Often happen to me... I mean to my phone!
Just change ur kernel as i said in anotheer topic its because of his keernel.u can download and flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050106

I have both this ROM and this problem. Has it been sorted yet?
Just flash a new kernel.
LeeDroid v4 ROM's packaged kernel had this problem of not detecting the USB connection. Try any other Sense kernel like LordMod's, Unity, RCMix or whichever one gets you better performance.
So, I've been sick all weekend. What better way to spend a few hours indoors then to try out a fresh new ROM?
Last night I flashed from the old, worn out, seemingly no longer updated SkyRaider Sense (with Chad's Incredikernel) to what had been my old standby, CM which I believe came with it's own kernel. I am on XP. While native tether worked on SkyRaider, I couldn't get it working on CM7.1 which is a deal-breaker for me as I tether often (and though it's a good backup plan wireless tether SUCKS! soo slow). After trying to figure it out for a few hours, I came to the conclusion (wrong as it may be) that CM7 could not support wired tether, a problem that is isolated to that ROM.
Time for another flash. This morning I did some research and landed on MIUI and a new Incredikernel. I like this ROM but still no wired tether. Here's what happens:
1 Plug in USB
2 Menu>Settings>System>Tethering and Portable Hotspot>USB Tether ON
3 New Hardware Wizard Runs - doesn't matter though, I've downloaded no less than 10 drivers that are supposed to fix this and similar problems (tetherxp.inf, Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device, HTCSync, VZAccess, etc). Automatic install, let windows search, manually choose file - honey badger don't care.
4 Device Manager shows "RNDIS" Under "Other Devices" Anything I do - "The hardware was not installed because Windows could not find the necessary software."
5 A single tear rolls down my face.
Though this MAY be an easy fix, I have searched everywhere and cannot find the info I need. Feel free to post any link to solved posts concerning this, though I feel I've tried everything readily available.
Does Chad's new kernel support RNDIS? Is there a kernel that does? Can someone write one?
Is there a different driver that I am supposed to be using?
I don't want to go back to my nandroid backup.
Please bring NyQuil, thanks in advance,
-H
PS Yes, today I named my phone Honey Badger. 'Cause he's a bad*ss... but he doesn't give a sh*t.

I've had the similar RNDIS issue before. What fixed the issue for me was installing the modified usb drivers from the unrevoked website. The thing is Windows would not install the drivers running normally. I had to boot the PC into safe mode, then I booted my phone in to Hboot then plugged it in to the PC and the drivers installed successfully. Give that a shot maybe it'll work for you..
Download this and unzip it then go to ADB , DRIVERS, HTC Modem Driver. The driver you require should be in there.
http://dinc.does-it.net/ADB/ADB-Fastboot-USB-Drivers_v4_(x86)(x64).zip
Thank you both, I hadn't tried installing in safe mode WHILE in HBOOT... however, it did not work. I tried both sets of drivers while in safe mode and HBOOT, then just in safe mode, then just in HBOOT.
Any other ideas? Questions?
Thanks
Any other ideas? Anyone else?
"bump" is too short of a message
Chad's incredikernel appears to support RNDIS. I'm looking to add to mine (gingertiny-v2) but I can't get it to build so far.
Still unsolved, is anyone out there good enough to solve this RNDIS driver riddle? Please, give it another go!
Thanks in advance.
Your pal,

hey guys, i really really need some help here please. i finally decided to root my phone, that went fine, then i decided to look for a kernel so i could overclock my desire z, i downloaded kernel manager, and installed Flippy125's 1.9ghz froyo kernel (which i didnt know was broken because it didnt say so on kernel manager)...after that kernel was installed, i now cant connect to wifi, cant get a mobile network signal, and cant connect to the pc at all (usb disk drive, usb debugging, internet pass through) i cant get any sort of internet what so ever to try going to kernel manager and getting a new one can you help me out at all on how to reset it to a factory kernel or anything that can atleast get my phone working again? thanks guys
Did you create a backup in recovery before you upgraded the kernel? If so wipe and the restore. If not try to find a stock rom and flash back to stock. Youll lose all your apps however.

is it possible to do it through the clockwork recovery console? i was trying to get into it for like an hour then my phone randomly restarted into it while i was typing that first post...lol
EDIT: okay guys, i found some MIUI rom on my sd card, installed that, and everything seems to work now, but seems like it'll be a major chore to get used to, is there any way i can use the original HTC UI? or do i have to use different ROM's from now on?

Don't flash that kernel. ROMs have their built-in kernels that are already fast (1500Mz when the phone was originally rated 800Mz is impressive). Try different ROMs out.

USB OTG isn't possible on our Desire HD (Well, it was possible on Froyo Sense ROMs) but I believe the Devs are working on it
