SD Card Partition Depends upon the user. 16GB Card you will having >14.8GB available. If u have more music and more video and Nandroird Backup then it will fill the 14GB. If u are running more application and games and u are out of phone internal memory then SDext1 may be needed so u can move the apps to SDext1, Swap file will degrade the SDcard Performance if u are an hard multitasker and ur ram is always almost full then swap file will help u no need of swap Partition 256mb is enough for Swap file and SDext1 Max size is 4096MB so i am suggesting to use 2048MB for SDext1.

an ext 2/3/4 are the native file systems that linux uses, a swap file is when you set aside part of sd card to be used like ram, like a paging file in windows, a swap file is unnessesary for the desire as we have ample ram, and sd card speeds are just not good enough for it to be any use
oh i see, so i use 0mb for the swap size and 512mb for the ext?????, i am using rom manager by the way

if you have a cd burner on your pc i suggest you use the gparted live cd, you can use it to create a much bigger ext partition on your sd card, 512mb isnt alot, id use atleast 1gb

[Q] Desire only recognize limited memory

Ok so this is my problem:
I have a 16 Gig MicroSD class 6 card.
I've partitioned it with ROM manager and then manualy changed the partitions sizes, I've increased the ext3 and the swap partitions sizes with gparted.
Later on I've inserted the card back to my Device and Flashed a fresh copy of the ROM.
The device still can only see 147 Mb or free space whereas I've partitioned it to be about 1 Gig of size.
Any one knows any way to make more space on the card then ~150Mb?
Do a search on data2ext and data2sd.
Good luck.

I take it your using a normal app2sd rom, not the newer data2sd or data2ext.
where are you looking to find your stats? if its in settings/sd & phone storage these wont show the amount of the app2sd partition, but they will show the amount of a data2sd or data2ext partition, because the latter two fools the phone in to thinking its internal storage, the former just moves parts of an app to the ext partition on the sd card so isnt classed as internal storage.
If you download an app from the market called quick system info it will show you the size of your app2sd partition to see if its worked

[Q] For a 2nd partition on my SDcard should I use Fat32 or Ext (2,3,4) ?

I have a 64GB Class 6 card, and was thinking of partitioning my sdcard. My questions are the following:
Which is best fat32, ext 2,3,4?
Is it worth partitioning my sdcard?
Thinks that all for now.... if anyone else has additional comments other then whats above that you think may be helpful I would appreciate those. Thank you all in advance.
I wonder that as well..
I have a 16gb that has a 2gb partition for use with Link2SD so giving me over 2gb storage for Apps and Games! I use ext3 as my Mac wont recognise the second partition and open it as a storage drive when i plug my XPlay in, Just the 14gb partition opens as thats Fat 32! Dont know the difference between them (Know Ext is linux!). Just makes it more tidy for me personally
ext is better than fat, if you kernel support ext4 use it (if i remember correctly doomkernel can), if no use ext3 (should be supported from every kernel)

your partition SD CARD

Show your Partition sd card please...

ext partition is usually used if you want extend your internal memory like using link2sd or other tools.
i don't think it's necessary with our phone, because it has 1g+ internal. you can simply move the apps to sdcard to free some internal mem.
CWM if i'm not wrong, by default creates ext3 partition.
thanks 4 ur explaination...

On most phones only fat32 formatted sd card works. If u have a rooted phone and a partitioned sd card then u can use softwares like apps2sd to install apps on sd card in that situation if u partitioned your sd card in to formats i.e. one partition is fat32 ( main partition or partiton 1) and decond partiton can br any format only that app can recognise the second partition but your apps will be installed in it and work properly and your phone eill recognise only the fat33 partitiin. Im talking about phones generally and not only k10 cuz. Most of the phones only support fat32

my sdcard is 32g
Yes, can create two formats, but it's some app only knows
If recognize sdcard more format support would be much better.
example
I want download file more than 4gig but can't because that's fat32

So this is the easier way to partition there is another way using pc but yiu should try this first.
First download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd
Then go to partition tool in it. There you will see a bar slide it to hoe much you want your main partion which is fat32 to be. I have attached an image thats the thing. But this is from the playstore app image because i didnt root my lg yet and did this before in samsung and dont have access to that phone. So you csn see in the pic. Uncheck the 2nd partiton (in the pic its checked but u have to uncheck it). So now you will have 2 partitions in your sd card but makesure u make the main partion fat32 or else your phone wont recognise the sd card. Now press yes after its done you might get a message to create mount script it will be writren what to do. Now it will ask to reboot phone after reboot go to storage and now if successull you will see your sd card for eg if u set main partiton to 16 gb then you will see your sd card showing 16 gb but dont worry. Now open the app and from there you can link apps to sd card second partion you can move whole games and apps. IM NOT RESPONISBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE OR SD CARD.
if it doesnt work or any other question feel free to ask

K10 supports only FAT32 upto 32 gb without reformatting before it can use. If you put a 64 gb on k10 it will force you to reformatt it as FAT32. Exfat is 64gb and above and do not have limits on each file. While fat32 can carry 4gb per file.
