I would say try it out stock. Mine is coming tomorrow and I intend to stay stock for the time being. For me the software is full-featured enough without root. It probably also depends on your opinion of touchwiz. Give it a try, you might like it!

Are you rooting your device yet?

Will that interfere with any updates from at&t? Dare I say I might not root for now and leave as is.
i'm not rooting til there is a reason too... so far, there isn't

Same here, I just wanted to freeze out the att ****ware.
I'm going to hold off until tar hits.
hopefully that comes soon like it did on Sprints
I also would want to freeze the bloatware but does rooting the device interfere with updates from at&t for the multiview update? I usually immediately root/unlock bootloader and custom rom my new device. Never actually wanted to run stock like I do now due to the sgn2 features, including the s-pen.
I would assume that as long as you're using the stock rom then ota should still be available; but once you run ota you will probably have to re-root and also hope they don't patch whatever root methods we have currently.
I think I'm going to root soon so that I can play my NOVA3 with my PS3 controller... HDMI on the big screen using my Note 2 as a gaming system... You got to love it.

I plan to wait. Not having the stock TAR and a clear path to true stock has me going at it slowly. Having come from a zombie HP touchpad with CM9... I miss my root toys and tools.
I do really want the multiview OTA!

No real reason for me to root so far. I disabled all the bloatware so I'm good to go for the moment.

I was just about to ask the same thing.

Learning Hub is not working after rooted.

I rooted my Rogers GN2 using Chainfire auto root method then my app Learning Hub is not working now. Any one know how to fix this? Really appreciate that. I am still on stock recovery.

I also rooted with the Galaxy_Note2_Toolkit_v2.0.0 and updated after donating to the newest version of the kit for my Bell Note 2, and my Lhub doesn't work either. My motion to wake doesn't work unless I am in learning mode of that feature but that might be buggy software. Hopefully a newer than 2.3.1 version for the toolkit will be available soon.
Use Triangle away and clear your custom recovery counter then try the hub. Was reading today that the hub looks at the rocovery count to varify stock. Seems wacky but saw reports of it working. I dont have one ro confirm this otherwise id try for you before making the suggestion.

Upgrading Android OS ? SGN2

I just bought my note 2 and don't want to root or anything like my Gnex. It comes with 4.1.1 out the box, does anyone know how I can force upgrade the OS without rooting or having to wait for the carrier. Otherwise can someone point me in the right direction.
Thanks

First of all, you have to root and install a custom ROM if you want something other than what you have. Without root, you're waiting for your carrier.
What upgrade are you looking for? The only one Samsung has done for the phone is 4.1.2, which you won't find to be a jaw dropping upgrade. 4.2 is available on a number of ROMs, but without Touchwiz.
Have a bad experience rooting? Tweaked and other TW ROMs are stock but better in a number of ways.

[Q] purchasing apps with carrier?

So I was able to purchase app through tmobile before I rooted and flashed a custom rom. But now when I try to attempt to purchase it tells me account can't be verified. Now I check my tmobile settings and nothing has changed. I even tried several roms but still no luck anyone else have this problem? Or know of a solution

I was the same way I got my phone on the 3rd day of july I too actually love TW and I rooted and flashed a customed rom Ive almost tried them all... not very many TW roms. But the ones that are there are really awesome.. I like Wicked V7, The Little Minions, GoldenEye they all have features that are sweet. If you like stock all three has TW, Golden Eye has the stock look and also has apps2sd.

To root or not to root?

Upgraded from a note 2 to a 3 and I'm loving it. I always root and are coming from jedi roms. Is the note 3 that noticeably better rooted? I've read alot of threads where people have many problems. I genuinely wanna root asap but are hesitant. Someone help push me over the edge to flash land

Ok. Let me push you over the edge. I had never considered rooting a phone until I got the note 3. I decided to root so I could customise the pen widow ap. It has been the best thing that I have ever done with a phone. Yes the note 3 can be a little temperamental when attempting to flash ROMS but there is a lot of support and if you need help pm me and I will help to get you going. Going to put in a plug here for my ROM of choice. JEDI ROMS are good but I have not found a better setup so far than X-Note. Any questions about it and I will be glad to answer. Don't let other people's problems change your mind about rooting. This is a must root device.
Thanks mate, is that compatible with tmobile. I checked thread and it looks pretty sweet. I liked the air command themes. I got some questions, I'll pm you

Totally worth it man. Very easy to do as well. Not only the customizations mentioned above but also aosp roms and such are wonderful. W03 Slim is fantastic!
It's so easy to unroot the phone and go back to stock, so you might as well give it a shot and see how you like it. Unless you're completely incompetent then nothing too bad should come out of it. I personally like having my phone rooted without any custom ROMS. But that's just me, a lot of others would say different.
I am hoping to unlock SIM for a t-mobile phone / region unlock. I understand I can do that by rooting it. Can I root and leave it with stock firmware, and will I get OTA updates? Also, is it safe and easy to unroot. IF it's unrooted, will they know it was rooted (i.e. warranty void?)
Thanks
Rooting doesn't void warranty either. I was skeptical too. Rooted on 4.3 and loving it.

Waiting for my phone. Hopefully it's still on 4.3. So can someone confirm I understand everything all this correctly.
I can root with Root de vega (if still on older firmware) and it won't trigger anything to void warranty. I just want to use region unlock to try unlock the sim/region. After that...I can either unroot? or keep it root. IF I keep it root...but I want the latest firmware (not custom)...is that possible? I've seen video about flashing the firmware from Sammobile with Odin which brings it back to unroot stock...but what if I just want the newest stock firmware without unrooting? Do I need some other recovery and flash something else? Will putting in different recovery cuz the warranty tracker to trigger?
