hi guys!
I recently bought some earbuds : Sennheiser MM 55i. It sounds amazing and I was only 50$ instead of 200$! BUT : they are made for IPHONE and not for my galaxy S, so the pin 3 and 4 seem to be inversed.
I think the pinout for the iphone is : pin 4 is the mic and pin 3 is the ground

On the SGS, I THINK the pinout is : pin 4 ground and pin 3 mic because when plug my earbuds in the SGS, the sound is not good unless I push the button on the remote.
Am I right? If so, I can't find a "converter" on the internet (like ebay) that inverse the pin 3 and 4.
I know I can make it, but I want something more "professionnal".
What do you think?

Where did you get your information from???
I'm pretty confident it's the transistors inside the headphones vol controls not the pins on the jack.
Hi there.
I finally found an adapter that change pin 3 and 4 on ebay. It is use to adapt Nokia headphone to the iPhone.
For your informations, it is just buttons with resistors in the headset. However, the values of the resistors change if you get an old android phone vs iPhone. Check on Google.

That IS a great looking dock. If they made a pogo pin variant for the galaxy nexus, I would buy it in a heart beat.
Link isn't working for me. It shows the site but they list nothing for android for me.

Kind of spendy, but it's nice that it's universal.

Does the micro usb rotate 180°? I have a couple of devices and want to know if they all could sit in the dock and not be facing backwards

I think it's a fake cable. The contacts if the phone and the ipod are electrically connected but there isn't a communication protocol for this. It's like those usb-to-hdmi or usb-to-headphones cables which sometimes popup on ebay. They look right but serve absolutely no function.

Ok looks like it's micro usb wtf is the point of that? That's like adding an extra item that isn't needed
Ok looked a little harder and it seems this adapter is more for those who have the old 5 pin mhl adapter. If this is the case what a waste of money
Guess I'll be ordering a proper adapter. Ps will the new 11 pin work with the old 5 pin phones? Otherwise it might be better to get the old mhl adapter since I already have the damn adapter lol. Is this all correct?

I don't think the 11 pin to 5 pin will work, but I haven't tried this so I could be wrong. I found this thread that could interest you however...

Already read it. As far as I can tell the adapter I bought is to be able to use the normal mhl adapter. Which is why it has a micro usb port as a an output. So you can connect it. The Samsung s3 mhl adapter is an 11 pin from the s3 output already. Furthermore, Samsung arguably released the latter adapter to appease the masses since they gave the consortium and people a big F U.
As title states, I have a Jawbone Icon HD headset which I really like but I would also like to get a good pair of earbud+mic that doesnt require the adapter. Can anyone who owns the original earbuds the XP came with detail the model # and or a mice alternative?
I have seriously purchased like 3 pairs of earbuds+mic only to be disappointed, mostly because I have to use the adapter or I get the "device not supported" notification.
Any suggestions on alternatives and the model # on the stock earbuds+mic that our phone came with would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
Anyone?

Or you could use basically any headphones with this adapter. I bought it myself, and it works with all headphones with a microphone/play-pause button.

Basically OMPT is the type of headphone jack that is in the XPlay. So if you got OMPT headphones, you won't need to use the adapter. Why don't you want to use the adapter? lol. Personally, I haven't owned any OMPT headphones, but I heard from a few friends that the XPlay's stock headphones are pretty decent.
If you still are going to buy standard headphones w/ mic, to use with the adapter, I'd go for these. I've owned them for more than 6 months, and they are probably the best. In terms of sound, mic, and build quality.
Hey guys, i've just bought the Apple Earpods and after trying them on my iPod Touch 4g, I tried them on my phone. They weren't detected. I looked for info about it and in this forum I saw that i had to download soundabout. I did, but Earpods aren't still detected. Does anyone have an idea of this problem ? Thank you all !
It's blindingly obvious. You can't use Apple earphones with Android devices because they were made for Apple devices. These earphones will contain hardware that can only be used with Apple devices. No matter what program you use, you won't get the same experience from it as compared to using it with an Apple device.

Looks like Earpod is not supported by Sony phones, not a software issue. Incompatible headset notification appeared on Sony stock Rom. But, when I tested it on my friend's Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it worked.

It's not an Android's problem because I tried them on my bro's phone and they worked.
Isn't there any solution then ?
I believe Arc uses OMTP audio jack
Will earpods are TSSP (like most other phones)
U can find OMTP to TSSP adapters/converters online
Sent from my LT18i
It's not a software thing, it's hardware related.
It's the 3.5mm jack itself. The 2011 xperia phones are made with OMTP standard jacks. But most of the new headsets are made on the CTIA standard.
The difference is the switched ground and microphone place of connection.

As you see it on this picture.
You could buy a adapter or cut the cable and switch the connections yourself (not recommended )
Altough, any headset WITHOUT a microphone will work on both devices
