Camera auto contrast setting not sticking - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Rooted sprint rom. I just did a hard reset on the phone and noticed that my auto contrast option in camera settings is not saving. Every time I close the camera, the setting goes back to off. Is there any way to have it enabled all the time? Like chenging a code in the systems file?
Thanx.

Bump

I am having the same problem with my I 535. it's unfortunate because the auto contrast setting makes the photos so much better you have to change the setting every time you want to take a photograph. I have no idea why that setting is not being saved
can we get a real developer in here to take a look? it may take you 5 minutes

BUMP, any fixes?
I think this is a regression from the first stock ROM available on the phone, as I just recently updated to the stock AT&T 4.3 and the Auto Contrast option doesn't save. It could have regressed on an upgrade between these ROMs, which would explain why my photos were amazing when I first got the phone then the quality dropped and it became harder to get good shots.
It really made me miss the tap to focus and auto-contrast that I experienced on my old 3GS iphone.
Any ideas or ROM suggestions, or superior camera apps are appreciated.

Bump for this thread...got the same problem on a ATT GS3. Auto contrast (at least for me) makes a BIG difference re: image quality.

T-Mobile Dash Camera APP?!?!?!?!

You know i been wondering... the camera application in our phone is after all a program that runs just like any other program in our phone right? thus being said... with all these applications made for the dash why has anyone yet to make an upgrade for the camera app? even tho the application is set to manufactures default settings so was the T-Mobile rom settings, but people were able to upgrade roms so why is it that we cant upgrade the camera app? maybe there is someone smart enough out there to think of this app. i mean all in all it would be nice to have some extra effects options or a brightness option you know... something to that effect would be a cool thing to have.
There are many Camera applications, I personally use the "stock" camera in conjunction with Cool Camera

[Q] Gingerbread Vs. ICS Camera

Hey fellow 4G Touch Users ... So I tried an ICS build last night( Thanks to Phantom and the awesome Blazer ROM ), one thing I noticed is that the ICS camera is vastly better at focusing than the Gingerbread version of the stock camera.
I attribute this mostly to the fact that you have touch to focus on the main screen of the ICS camera, once I touched to focus on ICS it would lock the focus and take the picture as is.
In Gingerbread I don't see the ability to touch to focus like this, please someone correct me if I'm wrong or missing something. When I take a photo in Gingerbreads Stock Camera, it seems to re-focus then take the picture, which, most times, will leave the photo out of focus..... Personally I -hate- this.
With such a great camera hardware wise, does anyone know if there is a way to enable this feature, or get an app that does this? I've used Camera FX, but the options I see for focus that even comes close is fixed, which doesn't seem to be good at all.

I don't know whats wrong with your camera, but my gb camera has always had the tap to focus. I'm on Calk's ICS beta rom right now and I personally think it takes better pics than the ICS camera.. at least with the build I'm on now

Not sure ... Is there a setting for it? Tapping my screen takes a photo, I looked for a "Tap to focus" setting, but didn't see one.

It should be set automatically to tap to focus. I have mine set to auto focus and it still can tap to focus.. If anything try to uninstall and reinstall the app. Or you might have reflash the Rom. The Rom might have tweaked the camera

GS3 Camera Issue:take picture but when shows up in gallery much darker

I've tried to change the settings including the mode and exposure but same issue. Like I said when I am about to take a picture and looking at the screen, lighting is great, I take the picture but then when it hits the gallery it is so much darker.
Any ideas? I changed over from the nexus s which always took awsome pics and this is supposed to be better so any help would be appreciated.
I have not gone to a custom rom yet fyi.
appreciate the help
I notice that too. I think it's because the phone automatically turns brightness all the way up in the camera app, then it goes back to the brightness you set to when you exit the camera app. So that makes the picture turns out to look a lot darker.
try wiping the app data

bit of a novice so if you might explain the steps involved would be appreciated thank you in advance...
seems like the first suggestion helped the gallery show up brighter. what I did was go in and uncheck the automatic display and just set at a higher brightness.
any other suggestions always welcome
go to setting>apps>all>scroll and tap camera app>wipe data

thank you I will try that. low light shots seem to pose some challenges...and the flash washes out..gonna have to play around a bit with this to see if I can improve. Doesn't make sense that my nexus s seemed to take better shots but sure if I tweak some things I can get this on track

[Req] Action photo mode

Hello,
in an earlier version of the SIII (or SII i'm not sure) there was a mode in the STOCK camera where you could shoot a photo with a stroboscopic effect. I thought it was called Action mode. When you wanted to make a pic, you had to follow the moving object and then you would get a sort of panorama from a moving object.
I've attatched a example of a pic I made with action mode on my SII 2 years ago.
Is there any way to get that mode back? Because i can't find any apps that offer the same thing. I would like it very mucho!!
I'm running a rooted stock 4.2.1 (XXEMB6) if that helps
thanks in advance!!!
Really? No one?
I miss this feature too but on s3 no this mode

camera after August update

I don't know if it's just me but after the August update the camera seems to be taking really washed out photos, it's like they have turned down the saturation, photos that would usually be punchy and colourful are appearing bland and washed out.
Anyone else notice ?
Thanks Andy

I thought i was the only one..
Have you guys checked to see if the screen colour settings have changed?
Checked that as well, I'm going to do a full factory reset and I'll let you know, the camera is really mediocre now compared to the first couple of weeks of owning it.
Factory reset seems to have done the trick.

Good to know
So a factory reset is needed after the august update? And that'll bring the cam back to what it was?
Sorry to double post but you can't add attachments from the lab app.
These are sample shots I just did to see if it's bad. No filters and shot in auto mode.

Can anyone else confirm the camera looks good after the ARF7 update? (t mobile here) I'm tired of having the update notification, but don't want to risk a messed up camera.
I did read on reddit that the 240 slow mo recoding is messed up though and stutters. Anyone else?

There are only 2 members out of the entire S9 forum who have reported anything being wrong with anything after the August update, one of which was fixed with a reset, just update
August update running fine here, no issues with camera at all
