Frame rate / performance issues with all ROMS - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have tried both jedi xp-8 and cleanrom 4.0.5 and also clean room with Perseus kernel and no matter what, I keep having performance issues that are most noticeable in gaming and benchmarking. No matter what, my phone is limited to around 40fps or 14000 in antutu. Even overclocking to 1800 it does not do any better.
Update: occasionally when I first restart the phone I will have normal performance but then it goes away.
Details:
I317m - Rogers note 2
Clean flash using TWRP
Currently on cleanrom with Perseus kernel

That is weird, my phone gets around like 59-60 fps.
Mine is stock with root.

I get that kind of result right at the beginning of a reboot. Easiest way to quickly test is nenamark 2

I actually have the same problem. I even went back to stock and reflashed the rogers modem but I'm getting LTE maxing out at 8mbps and wifi (which is at 60mbps on my laptop through wifi) and my benchmark is at 14000 on antutu at 40 fps. Kind of regretting flashing right now.

No issues here with the modem but I haven't changed the original modem at all. Still very fast LTE speeds. But ya its unfortunate with this 40fps issue

Give it a few days and see if it stays that way. It always seemed fine but would always go back. I'm just on the newest Perseus and not having framerate issues but we will see.

I'm going to try doing a full brand new flash of Jedi XP-9 and not installing any apps on to my phone to see whether or not I have the issue on a fresh flashed ROM

I noticed this issue last night while watching a high FPS movie on my note. But the FPS counter didn't slow down until i hit 15% battery with the screen at full brightness which is what I always keep it at. Other than that I get really good FPS performance.

I have no problem either with frame rate!? So maybe after your clean install it maybe fixed. But may I recommend that u try another Rom to c if that changes the problem? may help. .

It appears as though something had gone wrong with every flash I had done. It was retaining bits of old kernels and messing things up. Started all over again and now back on jedi, and it's all working fine.

So glad to see you here Faux Can't wait for your amazing dev!
Just flashed it on my ATT SIII running AOKP by Task650 & ktoonsez.
Seems to work fine.
Took a couple reboots before sleep was working but that is common IMO, with custom kernel flashing.
Got a few extra points on worthless AnTuTu scores.
MTE is working.
Thanks!
hey what did u do yo make it work okay.I flashed and rebooted a few imes but frequency doesnt go over 1.1Ghz even though i have it set to 1.8.Also i have ondemand/cfq but nothing i do helps bring the frequency higher.

Everything seems choppy after rom

First time installing a new rom... I got the wicked red rom.. rooted my phone , backed it up via titanium and clockwork .. downloaded rom put on internal ..installed..
And now everything seems choppier.. mainly scrolling thru website and apps even xda apps seems choppy ..
I also debloated all the crap.

Did you let your phone sit for 10 minutes after you initially flashed the ROM? This will let everything install correctly and do what it needs to do. Have you tried rebooting? Did you clear cache and dalvik cache? If all else fails, re- flash the ROM. Follow the flashing instructions the dev has in the OP. Also, did you wipe data/factory reset when you came from your previous ROM? That is a very important step. FYI, I am running the same ROM, just the blue version. Hopefully this helps..
Edit: Sorry, I see you came from stock, but the data wipe is still necessary when coming from a different ROM. Let phone sit for 10 minutes after it reboots, then reboot again before signing into your Google account..

I think it's automatically underclocked for battery. Change the clock.
Though I clocked mine a step lower than that, and I get a very nice balance between better battery life and good performance.

Dude benchmarks have nothing to do with how the phone performs...u kidding me lol my gs3 kills my g2x in day to day performance. It makes it look all slow and totally kills it in scrolling and fluidity. These benchmaks dont mean **** my g2x scored even higher with morfics kernel. But guess what phone i would rather have. That g2x was a freak with benchmarking anyway it always scored high just like the old nexus single core that simms22 got over 6000. Anyway just do a factiry reset erase whatever scripts the rom might have for oc/uv and use system stuner or trinity krrnel toolbox. Because it is trinitys kernel
Edit ...i was talking about quadrant ...in antutu our phones always score low my galaxy nexus does better i just think something is up there..also your score was kind of low it should be getting 6800 to 7000 in antutu at stock speeds

I had same problem. For me the fix was getting LeanKernel 2.0.
4 hrs screen on time! Its the best for my phone. Since all kernels are device specific it might not be best for you.
To get it go to T-Mobile gs3 go to original dev and download lean kernel 2.0. Make sure its 2.0.
T-Mobile and AT&T work the same. If you use one of the other 4.2 ROMs on here I think Liquid smooth it comes with Lean kernel pre installed.

If that kernel doesnt work for you, you can always try Ktoonsez kernel here:

But for me personally, his kernel and the stock kernel that comes with Task's ROM always make my phone hot and battery drains faster. But many people report those kernels work great for them.

The same thing happens to me. It's not really hot, it's just kind of warm. It only happens when I'm using the phone, when it's locked it sleeps just fine and keeps cool. Otherwise it heats up and drains my battery in the process. CPU Spy shows my clock speed switches between 384Mhz and 1.5 Ghz depending on what I'm doing. My CPU usage isn't consistently high, even if its at 10% it still does it, seems quite normal. I can turn off data, wifi, bluetooth, and location services, doesn't help at all. I've tried resetting my battery stats, where I charged to 100%, cleared stats, depleted fully, then charged too 100% fully. No different. The heat comes from the bottom of the phone, maybe closer to the right side about an inch from the bottom, it is not coming from the battery. My battery usage shows high usage on the Media process or the Android System process. Ending either of them does not help, so I'm assuming they aren't actually using the battery like it says they are.
I'm running Liquid Smooth 4.2 beta 2, same as OP, with leankernel 2.2. It does the same thing with KT kernel, I've tried undervolting but it persists. I've also had this issue running slimbean, Liquidsmooth RC8, and RC9. My battery was pretty good when I used to run stock, and it was absolutely amazing when I ran LiquidSmooth RC3 and RC5.

So far it seems to be running well. Run Quadrant and it is using Eco mode as my scores varied by 2000. Don't care about scores just the feel.
The governor is ondemand and uses 1134 alot more. Which is nice not seeing 1512 mostly so battery should be better.
Do have a question though. Do you want us to test different governors? If so, what's the preferred program?
Thanks joker!! It's great to finally have a kernel to play with!!
edit. Decided to use Set CPU. Seems to be working fine. I take that back about using 1134. Guess it just happened to be the speed of choice by what I was running. Still mostly 384 and 1512. And of course Deep sleep
This has worked fine in my testing Bluetooth steaming and calls work without issue. Camera works so does WiFi. I still see the msm host wake lock but it's not that high. Got 20 thousand in antutu so it seems to work without issue.

That seems kinda low for an overclock gn2. What ROM are you running? If you are custom right now try stock without any mods to it and see what you get. You also may want to try and undervolt it. Also check what CPU settings you are running using setcpu or nofrills. Change the setting to performance and see if that helps.

If it were me, I'd focus on getting my imei back and starting with a fully functional phone. Playing with unsupported (for our device) roms (such as the TW 4.3) or modems is a typical way to lose the imei. I am referring to the other request for support thread you posted.
Lag sucks. Not being able to use your phone as a phone is worse. Focus on one problem at a time.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
4.1.2, no OC whatsoever, and my phone is a Beast!
Given the status of my phone. Being on custom clean rom didnt really need to OC or anything. OC tends to make my note 2 unstable and bring the battery life down a little. Think the cons out weighs the pros really.
