Hi everyone, yesterday evening I decided to attempt to unlock and root my phone but during the process I had to go, so, I interrupted everything just after sending the token ID to HTC Dev, but I didn't flash anything on my phone. (I didn't disconnect the phone without having shouted it down from bootloader)
After that my Hox can't lock the signal and so I can't send/receive sms, nor phone calls, plus, my gps stopped working. I already hard resetted the phone but nothing changed,
I'm thinking about returning it back to HTC for the warranty because I doubt that I did something that could have damaged the phone without flash anything on it, do you thing I messed something and I can solve it by myself or should I claim for wharranty beleving it's all a mere coincidence?
thanks!
If you didn't unlock the bootloader, your warranty should be intact. You'll get it fixed for free.

I hope so, tomorrow in the moarning I'm going to call HTC obviously omitting the unlock attempt part that's quite a coincidence however!
After some calls it seems the old owner of my phone stopped paying for it and now my imei is blocked here in Italy...
My options now is to use it as a media player or to sell it abroad...

Hi guys,
im going to be returning my diamond under warranty as it has developed a resetting issue - the phone randomly resets and sometimes keeps on resetting. even after a hard reset.
iv had various fw's installed and spl's and radios so i want to return it to a factory state. it is also security unlocked though it wasnt originally.
iv put radio .25.03 back on and spl V1.37. rom version is 1.37.405
Has anyone returned there diamond in the security unlocked state? e.g. those who received there diamonds already unlocked, do they show the 'H' on boot up and do they show security unlocked in bootloader?
thanks,
simba
Olipro posted a security re-locker awhile back, do a quick search. I also went through the hassle of warranty, i hope you're not in Australia and have to go through Fonebiz as mine took a whole month to repair.
I sent mine to HTC in Milton Keys to be repaired and I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2324837&postcount=20
The phone was sent to them security unlocked but they still did the work and send it back to me repaired. It was locked to a network though, when they sent it back and it was security locked. On the paperwork they sent me with the phone was mentioning the faults that the phone had and that illegal software had been installed on the device but that didn't seem to matter.
Hope this helps you.
thanks guys,
will have a look for the relocker and do that just in case.
cant see them rejecting it for any reason then other than they cant see a fault.
stupid phone keeps restarting very randomly for some reason. think i might just sell it when it comes back and pocket the money in the light for the new phones coming out this year.

Ooh you are lucky one, i hope same will be with my phone in service
Hi everyone,
So I have to share my horror story with you all for you to understand how customers can be royally messed with.
This is not a "get back at them" thread but mostly a place where we can post our stories with issues we had and where I can direct you to a Facebook page where everyone can go make their stories public and so we can make them increase their standards of customer service and warranty.
So here is my story with HTC:
N.B. None of our phones are rooted and only her's was SIM unlocked via a code we purchased.
So since December 2011, my girlfriend (Phone B) and I (Phone A) have both been using HTC Desire Z sold by Bell Canada. I am a Bell user and she is a Rogers user. Mine was bought under my contract and her's was bought by someone else who got a contract to get the phone but sold the phone brand new and gave me the receipt.
So we had been using our phones without any problems until I started experiencing issues in July 2011. The screen was not responding and I had to send it (A) for repairs. It was returned and was used without any issue until the next problem popped up (keep reading).
In December 2011, I decided to send my girlfriend's phone (B) since she had been complaining that her earpiece was crackling. So in December, I sent the phone.
I leant her my phone for the time her's was under repair. One night, my phone froze when she loaded a PDF. It restarted fine but the next morning, it was stuck at the HTC screen (A).
I called Bell. In Canada, it turns out carriers are responsible for handling the warranty so they consider that if you are not a customer under the carrier, you can't avail yourself of the manufacturer's warranty. This makes absolutely no sense but just another way of licking up customers with their companies.
I called HTC USA (as HTC doesn't have any offices in Canada) and fought for an hour until they transferred me to a repair unit. With them, they told me that the phone was still under warranty and gave me a work order to send to the subcontractor responsible for repairs.
I sent phone A for repairs. In the meantime, phone B was returned. We sent phone B for repairs unlocked and they returned it locked (new IMEI). I paid to get it unlocked and my girlfriend started using it. She told me that it rebooted every 2 minutes. I took a video of it and it is pretty ridiculous. With a Rogers SIM, it reboots every 2 minutes, without a SIM, it reboots every 15 or so. I'm now going to have to send phone B for repairs again and cross my fingers that it doesn't fail again.
Now the pièce de résistance is coming up. I just received a call from the repair company and they are asking 200$ to fix phone A. They consider that a phone under warranty with a work order and sent because of random software failure needs 200$? What is this?
Posted my story on the HTC Canada facebook page and guess what? INSTANT DELETE! Because of this, I started my own Facebook page. We are customers, I bought not 1 but 2 phones from them and look at what they do!
So here it is, the facebook page where all of you should post your stories:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/HTC-Ce...751052?sk=wall
If it gathers wind, we might finally get some real help from HTC. I was a BIG fan of them. Until they fix this mess, NEVER again will I buy or advise anyone to buy their products!
Thank you and sorry for the long post.
Show some support and share your stories, the more posts there are, the more likely they are to help us.
Wow that sucks sorry, but if your these forums why not do all the software fixes yourself?
Yeah I totally understand your point of view. I rooted my Dream in the past and now the Galaxy Nexus but my girlfriend's, I thought, didn't need to be rooted.
Plus, when they are under warranty then I don't see why risk bricking it (if you're good enough, it shouldn't happen) but now that they will be out of warranty, I will root and unlock them for sure.
The only problem is when being repaired, they are updated to the most recent firmware so it makes it a bit harder to root.
Apart from that, the phone that is stuck on the HTC screen is S-ON and is not USB debugging since she had factory reset it herself. Makes it inaccessible from my knowledge right?
The other one is still under warranty and is the one that is rebooting constantly. I don't know whether I'm better off rooting it and installing another firmware or having it corrected by them. It should work out of the box no? Am I being unreasonable for expecting my phones to work? I am also not the first one to experience this, plenty of threads seen on this and other websites...
Anyways thanks for your reply.
HTC Netherlands did a great job for me!
The power-button was not working anymore after the phone fell on the ground. I told them that I want it to be fixed, if it was not getting too expensive. They fixed it and did not charge a penny!
Yeah pven, I guess we should be unbiased and present both sides, fairer that way.
But my case is particularly bad. I ended up rooting her phone and installed the most recent build of cyanogenmod. It rebooted once since but another issue has appeared. When she presses the power button, it locks the screen but sometimes it is actually powered off and needs to go through a short boot process to get back to the home screen.
Also, the phone had been sent to repair the speaker. Turns out they changed the whole board and the speaker isn't fixed. I'll have to put it back to stock ROM, put the original hboot, and unroot it in order to send it back to get it repaired twice.
Surprised she doesn't want to give up on it... after all that has happened, I wouldn't be surprised if would simply forsake HTC altogether... She had an HTC Touch Pro 2 and didn't really like it either so I'm out of options...
As for my DZ, the situation is being corrected with HTC and their contractor. I'm hoping for positive news but it seems it would be going my way. I have a bunch of emails from HTC support that has it going my way at least (them saying it's covered but not for out of warranty damage and a faulty board is not out of warranty damage).
Bottom line, I will think twice before buying a non-nexus device. My Gnex is working like a charm! Too bad the unstable software out-shadowed the amazing hardware of the DZ.
Oh man, this is interesting, i have got my htc phone repaired in China, and all those workers act really nice
Hi can anyone help me please?
I recently bought an htc one x, it had no sim card and i was told it was unlocked for any network, i have flashed the rom that has the snake on (cant remember the name). When i put a sim card it just doesn't seem to register at all, It seems that the airport mode is always in a state of turning of and the wifi wont turn on, i have tried to get the imei but when i do this there is no number at all just the word IMEI: Is this phone goosed? Would it be worth selling to another country where it may work so i can get some of the money i paid for it back?
Thanks in advance.
Mate, I'm afraid you have been tricked. What you described sounds like a serious hardware problem to me. As long as the phone accepts the SIM card it's not SIM locked, alright. But not being able to get out of airplane mode, or not being able to turn on wifi, sounds like it's seriously f****d up (pardon my language!). I suggest you see the service with it. Passing it to somebody else certainly won't solve the problem with it (only your problem!).
Cheers!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions there!
OP I recommend going back to stock and see if the problem is still there. An error in installing ViperX is always possible. Let's just hope nothing was wrong before you unlocked your bootloader. Otherwise you won't be able to get warranty if it's a hardware problem. I always test any electronic device for a week or two before I screw with it.

My One X has suddenly stopped detecting my SIM card. It was all working fine yesterday. I made a phone call and got in the car to drive home from work and when I arrived home I had no signal. It may have possibly got a bit squashed in my pocket, I don't know but it was working fine before I got in the car.
I have tried other SIM cards and none of them worked so I decided to try my SIM in my GF's phone and it worked with no problems. Looks like I will haver to return it under warranty.
My question is, as I am running an AOSP ROM, do I have to return it to stock before sending it back to HTC? Will they even do anything about it as my warranty is void?
Yes. It's recommended that you go back to stock rom+stock recovery+relocked bootloader and then send it to HTC!
However, they will know that you have fiddled with your device as the bootloader will read **Relocked**...
In some countries like India, in this case, warranty is void even if it's a hardware issue.
My G4 was built in May and recently developed some weird issues. Reboots every 30 minutes or so, and will only charge intermittently. Charges for 30 seconds, stops for 30 seconds, charges 30 seconds, stops again.
Weirdly it seems to be charging to 'full' faster than before, and the battery life has become terrible despite being in airplane mode as I've put my simcard in another phone. I've tried a complete wipe and flashed stock but no improvement.
I was under the impression I'd voided the warranty by unlocking the bootloader but I've just read the LG unlocking page which contains the following text, implying there may still be some warranty coverage.
"As we cannot guarantee the proper operation of our hardware with custom software, we are not able to maintain the full scope of warranty for your device after you have unlocked the bootloader. Because of that we have a responsibility to let you know that defects which may result from, or were caused by custom device-software may not be covered by LG warranty."
I'm in the UK and about to send my phone off to LG for repair, anyone have any experience with this? Will they just knock it back straight away for being unlocked or will they replace it anyway as it looks like a hardware issue?
Did you buy it outright or via your network?
In my experience, networks in the UK are a lot more understanding of unlocked bootloaders than manufacturers. I unlock the bootloader on pretty much all of my devices and whenever I've sent a device back, they've never batted an eye lid.
I've mates who have had similar experiences on Vodafone.
i'm in the UK and phoned up to explain i could only get 4G at home by forcing it via the hidden menu by dialling 277634#*# in dialer and go to field test > modem settings > lte band selection and selecting band 3 (for Three network). asked them if i could send it in to be looked at and they told me by accessing the hidden menu i'd invalidated my warranty. JUST FOR THAT!!!! good luck with an unlocked bootloader, let me know how you get on...
I actually broke my phone and couldn't fix it myself. I had an unlocked bootlader and had flashed TWRP and other stuff. It clearly said "Bootloader unlocked!" when turning it on.
So... I bricked it and couldn't fix it myself so I had to send it for repair. I sent it to Phone House (Spain, I live here) and they said they couldn't fix it, so they sent it to LG. They told me that after some time I'd receive a SMS with the cost of the repair. I was scared it would be too high but I had no other option.
Two weeks go by and I receive a SMS from LG saying "your phone has been fixed and you can pick it up from the store you left it." I was confused as **** because I thought my warranty was voided but it apparently wasn't.
Either way my phone was fixed and I didn't have to pay anything.
