I've got the WildfireS marvel C from Virgin Mobile. So far I've unlocked the bootloader and I've put a custom recovery on it,but it won't let me install a rom.
It just locks up whenever I try.
Can anyone point me to a solution?
I noticed some of the roms for this model have to run off a special partition of the SD... is that just a limitation of the model? or?
If so, how does one accomplish that? In every mention of it I've seen, the author assumes too much knowledge on the part of the reader and I can glean no details.
Help please? Thanks in advance!

Ok, as of right now, I've pushed the recovery image over fastboot, I've got S-OFF, made a "gold" SD card or whatever, and its "UNLOCKED"
but I did something weird and now recovery isn't working, so I'm going to try to get that back again. Does anyone have a good link for a recovery that worked for them on MarvelC? I've had the recovery on here multiple times, and it keeps locking up, often before I even select an option. I dunno if I wiped the dalvic cache, but I've got to get recovery back on here before I can try anyway. I'll report back once I've got it back on, if someone has a recovery image to share, I'll give it a shot and see if it alleviates my freezing problem.

Hi all,
I decided to remove Cyanogen today from my Inc2(obv). I loaded up the recovery I flashed with Clockwork last week. When my phone rebooted it got stuck at the HTC splash screen. Now all it does is loop the splash screen over and over again. Does anyone have an idea as to what i could do?
Did you wipe data and caches before flashing?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using xda premium
yes I did. This wasnt the first phone that I have rooted, so I am confused as to why it is doing this. On my old Droid by doing what I did above, I was able to remove cyanogen easily.
Did you make a nandroid backup first,if you did that just go to recovery and then go to backup and restore and select restore and just choose your backup, and then restart.

Do the following in recovery:
Factory reset
Wipe data
Wipe dalvik
Format all partitions except sdcard.
Enjoy aosp
I'm sure you are coming from a sense rom and there is residue left on your system partition. Formatting all partitions will help here.

Hello folks,
Ok here is my problem. First my phone is a Marvelc EVT1 / S-On RL, my Bootloader is "unlocked"
I was foolishly exploring the options in TitaniumBackup Pro and selected the clear dalvik cache and the disassociate dalvik from system (a dumb move, I know). So when I restarted my phone it got caught up in a bootloop from the MetroPCS splash screen to the HTC boot screen. I can get into HBoot just fine however, when I select factory reset, it goes into the factory install screen, then reboots into the bootloop process. When I select recovery I get into the recovery menu and can select reboot, install update from SD, wipe cache/factory reset or clear user info, but still even after doing all of that and selecting reboot, it goes back into bootloop. I didnt have clockwork installed because I thought Titanium would suffice as a backup utility.
Ive looked a few custom mods but I can't figure how to get them on my phone without access to the Android UI. I kinda figure that my phone is not a total lost cause because when I connect it via USB, the Android Composite Interface device as well as a hard drive icon appears when I connect the phone via USB. So I'm really desperate for some comprehensive instructions on fixing this issue if it is even possible. Any help would be super.
Thanks in advance,
Gary
EDIT: removed picture.
Obviusly the OP managed to edit his post to more than "Hello folks"
Maybe you could fast boot flash clockwork with adb then flash one of insinks metro roms (just an idea I don't know to much about this)
Sent from my HTC_A510c using Tapatalk
You need to fastboot clockwork mod recovery onto your phone, then from cwm you need to wipe your cache, dalvick cache and factory reset the device. After that place the rom if your choice on your sdcard and flash it. Follow the thread for your rom for specific roms

Thanks a ton for your info. I'll try that however every CW mod tutorial I've read always assumes that I had access to the android GUI. So I didn't understand how i could actually install it to phone. Your words are encouraging and I don't feel that this is a lost cause. Back to the research table/drawing board.
Thank again,
Gary

No. I've tried four different ones and I have to load the nandroid i made on all of them to restore it. When I try to install amon instead of supersonic it says current version is newer. I dont know exactly what I have to do but this is the first time I haven't been able to get it. Argh. Whatcha thinkin?
Is your Secure Digital Card partitioned? Keep in mind that some of the ICS Roms for the OG have A2SD baked in and if you're not partitioned it may cause for you not to get past the startup. Try this one from MazdaRider and be sure to wipe everything EXCEPT for your SD card and see if it works for you. Now if you do have your SD card partitioned wipe EVERYTHING DOWN and once again with the exception of your SD card and reflash your ICS Rom.
What exactly is ur flashing process?

You've tried literally everything? First and foremost you Wiped Data/Cache/Dalvik and then also Formatted System and Data manually before flashing? Formatting system and data is under "Mounts and Storage." I know a lot of people wouldn't get past the boot screen because they didn't do that...

I only format /system or /data (if need be) before flashing a rom, never cache or dalvik, which are hash signed. A new rom, a new flash, a new /system, has different hash, which leads to cache and dalvik being rebuilt on first boot after a flash.

Okay let me simplify everything for you and you will not need to pay anyone for assistance. All you have to do is initially erase all data and factory reset, then install the new JellyBean ROM using clockworkmod recovery and after that wipe cache and dalvik cache..you can run fix permissions (i did but not sure if it matters.) If it still is stuck on the boot screen then wipe data again, reinstall JB rom, wipe cache and dalvik cache and wipe anything else you can wipe. After all that mine started working normally. If you are still stuck sent me a PM and I can assist you from Atlanta GA and for free!

Go into ClockworkMod Recovery, then Advanced, then Fix Permissions
I had a very hard time doing it too. The first time I did it I, when I setup the phone, it kept having every app crash, one after another. Managed to get back into CWM and try to restore my ICS and it kept giving me errors. I finally read something about a super wipe, but it didn't say it worked for the GNex, so I just did a cache wipe, and did the data wipe 4 times, and then installed JB one more time, and it finally worked. I never had to fix permissions or anything like that. Perhaps your phone just needs some extra wipes like mine.

i got the links from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2078193&page=1 for CM10 and GAPPs. it says something about A2SD but i'm not really sure what that does. Do I need it, as in the instructions it just says to get both CM10 and the gapps. Also, I already tried installing the programs and then rebooting into the bootloader screen and then recovery. When I wipe data/factory reset and then try to flash the cm10 from the sd card it aborts halfway through. What am I doing wrong?
edit : i have s-on and hboot 2.18.0001
You need to wipe everything, not just data. As in data, cache, and dalvik cache. Then try flashing your rom again
Also, A2SD stands for "Apps2SD(card)". If the rom has it enabled, then you wont be able to use it properly without having a partitioned sdcard (that means without having setup your sd with a portion of it for apps)
But you can flash any rom with *-on, the only thing that you cant do (this part is specific to the supersonic evo, its different for other htc phones) is flash radios

If your using amon ra 2.3, then you should wipe everything EXCEPT SDCARD before flashing the rom of your choice, not just factory reset. Some ppl go as far as to wipe everything three times. If that doesn't work you should try to download again to make sure you don't have a bad download.
Edit: dangit CNexus beat me lol

If you downloaded the files from the lte thread then that's your problem. Although cm10 is cm10 on any phone, the links are device specific. Download from the evo 4g thread and try again

Yeah thats the next thing I was gonna suggest....most ROMs do device checking, but it can get dangerous if you flash a rom thats not for your phone, even if its similar.
For example, over at the Sprint Samsung S3 forums, I've seen some people end up with bricked phones when they accidentally flash roms made for the international S3, just because the misc partition on the international version just happens to be in the same place as the boot partition on the Sprint version. Very dangerous sometimes so be careful what you flash, this goes for ANY flashable zip, whether it be a mod, theme, app, rom, etc. Just my 2 cents

everything went great, thank you Cnexus and crime inc.
another question though, in the app store it says that my evo still isn't compatible with games like modern combat 4. anyway around that?
