Hey guys. My sister's notice something with the new jelly bean roms. When she sets her phone to vibrate, it still sounds when she gets a message. She has to manually set the notification sound when she wants it to sound or not. Is there any way she can have it silent like the ringer and alarm when she puts her phone on vibrate? It was like that on phantom's 2.1 rom and now on the unofficial synergy port. I had to nandroid back to phantom's 1.9 since this was bothering her so much. and It seems to be a part of the TW jelly bean roms, but not the ICS roms. Thanks!

Either try messing with the messaging app itself, and set it to always vibrate.
Another solution is turn down the volume by the side of the phone and click the settings icon on the sound bar. And turn notification sound all the way down.

Thanks. But my sis doesn't want to manually lower and raid the notification sound every time she needs to change it. It used to be paired together on ICS, but seems to have been separate in JB. Now, when you set it to vibrate, the notification sound is still on.
I'm on freegs3 and my notifications are vibrate only when I use the volume rockers to set it.

I use an apply called audiomanager pro. I've used it for what feels like ever. You can set profiles for sounds or adjust them each time.
It allows you to tie the two volumes together tho, something I think is a necessity and that's in aosp android or at least was on my nexus.
That's a great tip man. Thanks!!

If you go to settings/sound/general/volume you should be able to set it there. I'm on a rooted device but i think this is available on a stock rom. In order for this option to be a available your phone can't be on silent/vibrate. Let me know if it works.

that's where it was on my Evo, but it's not there. I'm running the stock rom, but I do have root.
What rom are you running?
This is one of the biggest issues I have with this phone. Why would I possibly want my notification ringtone to be louder than my phone call ringtone? This stock rom needs to be updated to offer an option to adjust all volume types simultaneously.

search market for volume control
"Quick settings" in the market has an option for this too.
I'm running Starburst rom v1. 5. I checked on my wife's phone that is not rooted and she has the same options under settings/sound/volume. Make sure silent mode is not enabled.

I'm not in silent mode, and I tried adjusting vibrate to each of the 4 options, and none of them caused the normal Android option to link incoming call and notification volume to appear.
Since the day I flashed CM10.1, my vibrate has never worked. I didn't know if this was because of cm10, or because my phone was broken.. But I noticed that my phone still vibrates.. or sounds like it. It will vibrate enough for me to hear it, but not nearly enough for me to feel it. In fact, I can only hear it if it's completely silent. This makes me feel like it's because of CM10.1, but I can't see anywhere that anyone else has the same problem :/
Is there a way to make the vibration stronger? I want to try to revert it to the phone's GB state, but I have no idea how to do this, and I want to use CM10.1 regardless if vibration works or not, with all of my data, but I'm not sure how to use my "nandroid" backup to restore my data.. Any help please? Thanks

Check under sound settings for vibration intensity. Or look under advanced device settings.

Hi,
I use the standard alarm on my Galaxy S3 to wake me up in the morning.
When it goes off I usually just press a button on the side to turn it off. Since a few days, after I've done this there is a notification in the top bar, and a message when I swipe it down. (see screenshot below ) The message reads (mine is in Dutch): "Alarm - You can stop alarms or put them in hiberna.." where I suppose the rest would be "...te by going into settings.." or something.
The annoying thing is this message is a permanent notification and it isn't possible to swipe the message away or I haven't found a way to turn it off. The only way is to reboot the device. Not too much trouble, but kinda trivial to have to do this every day just to get rid of a notification
The phone just recently started doing this, so I'm guessing it came in with a recent update or something.
Any help would be appreciated!
Dries

Long press the notification, then press App Info. Uncheck the Show Notifications box.

Thank you for the reply!
It won't let me uncheck the box, but you did gave me a way to get rid of the notification; as I can "force close" the app. I then have to remember to start it back up, otherwise I won't wake up on time the next day
If there's any more help, I'd be glad to hear it!
I honestly think the best solution is to find a better app. I'd recommend Alarm Clock Plus. There's a free version you can try.

I just installed it. Thanks for the help!
I've never seen this one before.
I would clear data for it and see if it continues, but it looks like you installed another alarm app. I personally am using Timely now. I like the compatibility between TW and AOSP ROMs, the syncing feature, etc.
I would freeze the stock clock app if you're not using it anymore. Wakelocks you don't need.
Hey guys, i have to set up at least 7 different alarms for me to wake up in the morning. So when i woke up, i woke up with like 7 little clock icons in my status bar. It was very annoying. I tried to go into cLocks settings, and nothing. Tried to go into my system setting and even liquidsmooth settings. Can't find a solution? ROM is LiquidSmooth kitkat 3.2 stable

Get into the clock app and enter it's settings, you should be able to turn off notification (for alarms) in there

I tried that and whenever I do that it messes up with my alarm going off
go to settings - applications, swipe right to see all - open clock - untick show notifications.
that might work, havent tried it myself though

A better question is how did you enable the notifications? I've never had them myself.
I'm just taking a guess here, but did you set your alarms using OK Google, or by voice? If so, delete those alarms and set them manually from the clock settings.
My wife doesn't care at all about what version of Android her phone runs. She typically wants nothing to change once she gets used to something.
With the Lollipop update did Samsung re-enable normal silent mode? I ask because if they didn't my wife will probably throw her phone at me if I update it, lol. If they didn't I'll simply skip the update and she won't care at all to never have Lollipop. For security and bug fix reasons I like her to be up to date if possible though.
Silent mode is there, I believe I just read it in one of the threads under general.

Yes. Just tap the sound toggle twice and the phone will be in silent mode.
Tap once, vibrate mode
Tap twice, silent mode (mute)

Yes they are silent mode is gone
I was under the impression that mute/silent was gone on lollipop? And only blocking remained. People are confirming that silent does still exist? I am in the same boat of not upgrading if mute has been removed.
Silent mode (mute) does exist in the TouchWiz lollipop build.
