First post and I had to make a thread,
Well to get to the point my phone will not only not connect to my PC but it will not connect to anyone els PC either. Well at least none running Windows 8 have not tried it on Windows 7. Was working fine this morning than it kept disconnecting on its own until finally will not connect at all. The PC will charge the phone but will not open the folder or recognize it as USB. I have installed drivers uninstalled and re installed does nothing.
I'm am using the original cord the phone came with. The phone is rooted running Jelly Bean.
Also When I do disconnect the phone from PC it say's it's still charging for a few seconds than stops.
Any help is appreciated thank you in advance really hope it's not the phone or USB on the phone.
Mods delete thread.
It was the cord that went bad just ran out and bought a new cord sorry for useless thread :silly:

I had this problem where it wouldn't recognize my phone with USB debugging on. Make sure you are using the same port you installed the drivers on. If that doesn't work then go into control panel>system>device manager and see what it is connected as. It should be Samsung Android in USB or OTHER. Click on that and hit Update Drivers and choose from Windows Update and let it do it's thing....takes a while. Reboot and you should be good.
Ok so I am trying to plug my phone into pc using usb cable so i can use odin. But my computer doesn't recognize my device. I've tried everything from uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them restarted pc and phone. nothing works i did get it to read one time and was able to access my sd storage and then i tried to go into download mode and i plugged in usb cable and it didn't recognize so i got out of download mode and it didn't recognize the phone again. Then i plugged in my girls evo and it reads the phone all the time. Is there something wrong with my epic then? how can i fix that problem. seriously getting frustrated!!
Try not to double post. We will get to your issue eventually. Refer to the other case, as it has potential solutions available for your issue.
(I've dealt with this as well.)
Installed the tmobile samsung galaxy SII USB drivers , I am using windows vista and it does not recognize the phone. I tried another vista computer it still can not recognize it. I tried an XP computer, it still can not recognize the phone.
How do I fix this?
Tried using the USB utilities under settings --> wireless and network
Still no luck
any suggestions will be appreciated

since you install the drivers into multiple computers and tested them all... it might be your phone.
First can you give more detail on what happens when you plug your phone in? Does your computer make any sounds or searches anything?
ALSO Try installing kies.
if that doesn't work either... looks like you need a warranty exchange
Try using an oem Samsung usb to micro usb cable. I had this problem with my Samsung Galaxy Epic a while back. Everytime I used a generic cable lying around my computer would not recognize my phone. When I used a Samsung cable it worked. Your computer should automatically identify your phone using the right cable. If not re-install them and don't forget to restart your computer before attempting to connect to your computer again. Good luck.
I've had this problem too.
Initially I had kies installed and had to launch the program to access the two 'mounted' removable drives.
I assume the drives mount, but you can't access the drives?
If that's the case, look on the phone and pull down the status bar and check to see if it sees the USB connection. Select that, and allow it to connect as USB storage.
thanks guys for all the quick response.
The problem seem to fix itself. After removing and attaching the USB cable a number of times, the PC suddenly recognized the phone.
I don't know what fixed it.
Now, I can proceed to root my phone!

you probably didn't give it enough time for the pc to actually install the needed components.. it takes a good 5-10 mins for everything to finish installing
I'm faced with the same problem. Only different is, as soon as it shows connect to usb from the notification bar if goes away. I tried the usb tool in wireless but still wont work. I tried the samsung cable as well
know it sounds dumb, but have you rebooted lately? mine wouldnt recognize the sd card when plugged into comp....rebooted....all is well
I was trying to transfer some files to my phone through a USB cable today, but the phone was not recognized by the PC at all (Even though it was working a week or so ago). I had some issues before with the cable needing to be still in a certain position or it would disconnect from the PC, so I tried using another USB cable which didn't work either (I tested both USB cables with another device, and both cables were working and the other device was recognized by the PC).
I also updated the USB drivers on my PC with the official drivers on the ASUS support page, and tried putting my phone in fastboot and recovery mode, but both were still not being recognized by my computer. My phone still charges properly, but I am wondering if the USB port got damaged somehow so that it can't connect to a PC anymore?

uninstall and reinstall the drivers. Ensure that phone is not connected during the process.
also have you upgraded your pc os ? if yes then its a little cumbersome to get the same working...
i changed from stock to cm, it is showing well now ... using RR now
Is your phone encrypted? If so you need to unlock in order for your pc to recognize it.
Thank you both of you for the help, unfortunately, my phone was not encrypted so there was no need to unlock in order for it to be detected. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers didn't work, and my PC was already on windows 10 since a few months ago. I would also prefer sticking to the stock ROM for this phone for now since they keep coming out with updates.
In addition, I tried using a USB OTG cable to see if the phone could detect the USB drive and my phone couldn't (it has worked before, and my old Galaxy Nexus could still detect it). I also tried plugging my dualshock 3 into the phone, and it also couldn't be detected (also had worked before).
It looks like it's actually a hardware issue and my only option is to RMA it now. I'll have to do it at a time when I don't need my phone as much or when I am not as busy.
PS: In case anyone else has this issue in the future, quick charging also no longer works
zenfone2 I also experienced that, and I have tried several ways, but remains unchanged. I was dizzy today :crying:
Hi all, I have in my possession a Sony Xperia Z5 Premium (E6853) International version, recently trip and put it in a somewhat old PC running Windows XP, the phone was working perfectly until now, after having logged started to give problems , I explain in great detail:
When i connecting for the first time, the phone was powered off and would not turn on, then when connected to the PC, lit perfectly, but to my surprise, when connected to other computers, just start to charge, the phone did not recognize computers, i change the cable, nothing, restarting the phone, not even charge, nothing happend, when it goes out, and relit, the phone was connected perfectly fine, and loaded, this worked only once since then repeated the same process, and it did not work, now only charge when the battery reaches to 0%, and the phone does not turn off when I press the power off, only restarts, comes to the screen where advertised sony, and again restart,, the phone is running android 5.1.1 lollipop, and I tried to hard reset 2 times, download the full phone battery and give it charge, dont know what else to do, I need help if someone has happened something like this, greetings and thanks.
Sorry for my english...
My recommendation: Warranty repair/ replacement
Have you got Sony PC Companion installed?
What usb driver is installed? Did the PCC install the MTP driver on computers you connected to?
Check device manager on you PC when you connect your phone to it and see if it recognises your phone correctly otherwise try uninstalling the usb driver and connecting your phone once the Sony PC companion has installed the necessary drivers.
Also try factory resetting if you can see if that helps
I have windows 10 installed on my pc with all the drivers and, yes, has Sony PC Companion installed too, normally before the problem, i was conect my phone and it made a sound but now do nothing,, i try the factory reset twice and the problem persist, maybe the phone has drivers too and was corrupted somehow, all that is the PC problem, the other one is the charger problem....
i conect the phone to de charger and nothing happend same like PC, no charging at all, the only way to charge the phone is it gets out of power completely, dead, thats the only way to charge it but the battery is suffering with that way
