Hey there.
Planning to buy a new phone in April or May, and have narrowed it down to XS and S3 Mini.
Now, I love the XS design, camera and all other features. All in all, its quite an awesome phone. Just a few questions to be asked:
1. Are the capacitive buttons alright? I'm buying the phone online, so no chance to use. I've seen many people on video reviews saying they're hard to touch. Is it really that difficult?
2. Is the back cover a bit flimsy? I've seen in a couple video reviews them mentioning it easily comes off. Is this a big issue? Because I don't think I hold the phone so tightly for it to come off.
3. Is it still worth buying? Do note that I am going to use Stock for a month before switching to FXP CM10. And its a 2012 June phone, so yeah.
4. How do I go about saving all my SD card stuff on this? If I flash CM10, how do I retain the SD card stuff, which I would have transferred? I don't quite understand. And how will I go about with the mass storage? How does it work?
Thanks a bunch in advance. All replies, including useless, troll ones will be thanked with the button.

Thanks so much for the reply. For the last question,
If I have songs and stuff on my ad card. I transfer them to the phone. I flash cm10, so do tyr transferred files remain like an SD card? Because I don't understand how this works.

I would like to, but its going to be very expensive. I'm getting XS for 20k INR (~$360-365) online. That would be for like 30K. My budget ends on 21K tops.
Edit: Since I'm buying it online at eBay India, how do I avoid the yellow tint issue? What do I ask the seller?

Be careful with the fake, Chinese ones out there on e-bay, etc. Many of them have far less capacity then they say..
Definitely avoid the cheap nasty one's on eBay! I bought one, looking for a cheap deal and trust me when I say it was more hassle than it was worth, data appears to copy across, but when you open the folders, they're empty. Fortunately the seller was a good guy and had himself been ripped off on a supply he had bought. He refunded me fully.
Bought a genuine 32GB card and I've had no problems with it.
Yeah I seen these, gonna stick to a name brand me thinks, just to be on the safe side

Does anyone one know if anyone has done one of those "cracking open" vids for the HOX yet ? I would be interested to see how it's set up inside. I'd also like to know if the 32GB internal memory is actually a micro-SD card that could be swapped for a 64GB at some point

I would be shocked if the internal memory was a MicroSD and not soldered to the board. It kind of defeats the purpose to make it non-removable and NOT give us the performance of a dedicated connection.

Shocked or not, it's what they did with the HD7. I wouldn't be surprised at all. A good, high speed SD card?...you'd never know the difference
Whatever is the cheaper option. That is what they did. Can pretty much guarantee it.

From a diagnostics, servicing & repair point of view it would be much cheaper and easier if it was an SD card.
Not sure about manufacturing. Probably about even.
Just wondering if the only way to open up the One X is to remove the LCD screen? If yes then what's the point of knowing if it's a 32mb SD card? Is the average joe able to open it up anyway?

B) This is not about the average Joe. The average Joe does not crack open his phone, or root it, or install custom ROMs, or visit xda-developers.com. The average Joe has an iPhone.

Put a HOX under X-ray (Turn it OFF first) and post a pic here.
We'll find out, if there is a memory card or something. Also, may be we'll see how to disassemble a HOX.
I think the HOX may be easier to disassemble that you might think.
I bought a gel skin case for mine which I take off fairly often because the HOX is so damn beautiful and nice to hold that it seems a crime to ruin it with a case.
Anyway, the case it quite a snug fit and I noticed when removing it that if I put my thumb on top of the polycarbonate just under the buttons at the bottom of the screen and firmly but gently flex it back I can snap the polycarbonate away from the screen by just a few millimetres. I can clearly see three little snaptabs sticking off the bottom of the screen that hold the polycarbonate in place. It snaps right back into place immediately.
I am too scared to try this right now but I think with further gentle pressure the whole outer casing would be levered away and you could lift all the innards out of the polycarbonate unibody.
There is clearly no "tool" access to the device so I assume that this is how it is assembled and disassembled.
BTW, here is a short video of the "opening" I mentioned above :

Maybe someone who's already bricked theirs or got a DOA.

So maybe this brings hope, that this is not a throw away phone or a send back to HTC service centre senario. Hopefully the battery could be user replacable in a few years time, once third party batteries become available.
gives me hope too...
even if it's a Li-Po, probably third parties will make a bigger battery for it, if it's possible.. >=)

Here in The Netherlands, second hand Desires are sold for about €125-€150, so the price seems fair. But it may well be that in your country the prices differ.

u dont need a big sdcard for rooting, jeez a 4gb card would be fine for a lot of people, most ext3/4 partitions u need for like 70% of roms only require 1gb/1.5gb. basically what im saying is keep what u have, s-off & root ur phone, learn to flash a rom and so on, and if it turns out that u download like a madman and u need a bigger sdcard then go buy 1, dont just go buy 1 coz some1 tells ya too, coz they aint that cheap.

I had read specs saying 32 - plus I have a 64. It is accessible through Root Explorer and with the camera. However, TWRP will not mount it and apps like Media Hub and most others will not access it. I have been manually moving large files around,
When I put my 16 gb in, everything works OK. Suggestions would be appreciated.
UPDATE - Problem was that it was formatted exFat. Formatting in the device or with Windows won't let you do FAT32, but freeware app did. It now can be accessed by TWRP (having it do a backup to it) and I was able to select it with Media Hub.

Ok well i went ahead and ordered This & This.
After reading the thread from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568968 i was on a mission to have a huge ammount of storage space on my phone (huge app junky) I will definetly report back on how things work out(really was skeptical on that 50 dollar 256gb sdcard) but if it holds out to being legit im gonna be ecstatic as hell and its even a class 10! If anything and it turns out to be some sorry 32gb sdcard i can always get my money back from paypal anyways it's worth a shot. That type 8 microsd to sd adapter is nice too as it should be lengthy enough to bend/fold over my zerolemon battery, might have a small growth on the back of my phone but it will be worth it
Ordered it today and should have both parts in about a week, seen this work before on the note 2 so as long as this sdcard is a go... i'll be getting a hell of a deal and so will anyone else wanting to do the same after i report back that it's legit :good:

It is most likely a legit card. Hopefully it lasts though. Adata makes a ton of cards, but about 40% I would guess are crap. And if course every one I have gotten from them ended up being in that 40%.
Edit: clicked the post button too soon.
Take some pictures if it, and which zero lemon you have, the 10000 ma one? I was thinking of doing the exact same thing, so I am very curious how this will turn out. Good luck.

I am actually quite used to it. I was (am) the kid who could never even win at bingo. So my luck with bad cards is nothing new to me.
Other people, like you, swear by them. But for the life of me, I could not get one to last over 1 week. 3 of them were within the last month. I kept returning hoping the next one would work.
And no, I am not hard on them. I have 2 other ones, sandisk and some unknown brand and I have had those for 4 years...

I just couldnt believe 256gb for 50$ Sold!!!
I hope you guys are right about being a decent enough card, i've been very loyal to Sandisk but they were going for $200+ compared to Adata's. I have the Zerolemon 10,000mah and Otterbox like case, I'm hoping the sdcard adapter wont leave a huge added bulk on top of the battery so the casing can still fit. Otherwise i might just rock my stock battery and use the foam casing with otterbox to hold the adapter still.

Update: Got back from the hospital today had a lower back surgery due to a ruptured disc putting pressure on my nerves and sending all kinds of hell down my leg(living with it for about 5 months) Luckily i was only in the hospital for 24Hrs it was a microdisectomy- whew glad that's over! Now i just got to deal with the pain which feels like someone threw a fireaxe into my lower back, my wife is taking care of me.
So i came home and she said i got some kind of sdcard in the mail and sure enough it was the 256gb ADATA sd card, i quickly as i could put that sucker into the sdcard reader of my pc and sure enough........
244gb formatted to fat32!!!!!!!
Not everything is a scam, you just really need to check user reviews and feedback on the seller, if it looks fake(i almost didnt order it but i thought what the hell its paypal i'll get my money back) just keep looking around i got lucky with this card but they are out there!
Pics below for proof. I'm still waiting on my type 8 microsd to sdcard adapter so i can try it on my Note 3. I will update this thread again once i recieve it

I advise anyone wanting a 256gb card like the one I got hit the link above and ask the seller if there's any left, I got mine for 50! I got it quick too as he shipped from NY and I'm in CA. All I'm waiting on now is my type 8 microsd to SD card reader to try out on my note 3.
Goodluck!

Have you tried copying a large amount of data to the card? From what I've read, fake cards will often format to their full capacity but fail when you copy an amount of data which exceeds their true capacity.

Maybe I'm missing something but it's not a micro SD card. It's not like you have 26th note 3 in your pocket.
I'm not trying to be coy, I honestly don't get what the big deal is. Aside from the price
