How expensive was your SD card? Sometimes they try to sell you a cheap one that has terrible read/write speeds. I think a good class is class 5 or higher anything lower you will notice lag because the transfer is slower. I have a 16gb with class 4 or 5 I can't remember tho

32gb card for WFS

Does anyone know if the WFS can support a 32gb micro sd. I am using a 16gb but filled it up. Just wan't to know if it can support it. I don't want to buy one and have it not work.
Yes, it does support microSD up to 32GB.

Yes, it does support 32GB. Been using it for quite some time myself.
That's good. Will be ordering one soon then. Thank people

CM7 lag, Data2sd

Ok so I got a new transcend memory card, 16gb, class 10. So I decided to install data2sd but to my surprise, I'm facing A LOT of lagging issue. I don't understand why its lagging on a class 10 brand new card. I've overclocked to 787 - 245MHz. Its 'ondemand' right now. What to do?
Sent from my Wildfire S using xda premium
Hmmm there is a tool witch can test the cards actual read/write speed (don't remember the name)
I'm using data2sd with a Samsung 16 gb class 10 and it works perfectly.

64gb micro sd card in the one v

Tried a SanDisk 64GB Micro SDXC card in my gf's One V today.
Had to format it on the phone, but after that seems to work just fine.
I thought the android OS only supported up to 32GB Micro SDHC, I'm not sure if it supports SDXC, but if it does, that would be the sweetest thing ever, more FLAC on this baby makes for a happy me
Was hoping it would. Looks promising. Thanks for your feedback

Theres no phones that officially suport the 64gb cards but lots of phones that actually seem to work ok with them. Including the sensation, the gs2 and galaxy note to name a few. I would have thought that as long as its been formatted it should work ok.

The class tells you what minimum write speed the manufacturer guarantees.
Most cards go a good deal above the value because the manufacturers play it safe.

I had talked to the customer support of HTC regarding using class 10 ,16GB sd card. They told me that you cannot use class 10 card on wildfire s(i am confused wether 16 GB class 10 or any size class 10).
They again told me that you can only use class 10 on phone with processor clock more than 700MHz.
Is it right?

I presume they mean that you wouldn't get the full speed of a class 10 card.
A wildfire S at stock clocks seems to tap out at about 8MBps write, as opposed to the 10MBps a class 10 card is supposed to function at.
The SD card standard requires that a higher rated card must function in a lower-rated interface, just at the lower speed.
Simply our phone cant read and write class 10 at their full speed...so you can use it but for value for money you should go for class 6 16gb..i have it.

The CPU appears to be the bottleneck. It'll push class 10+ speeds if you overclock significantly. This guy clocked at 806MHz is pushing 11.2MBps writes.

If you are buying a new SD card only for being able to use data2sd, then may i suggest using app2sd first and then buy if you are not satisfied with the performance. And if it is for something else, then go for class 10. and overclock your phone!

Tell me your opinion about swap memory

I have a plan to buy a 16 GB class 10 sd card, and make a swap partition.
What do u think about that, because i have heard a few opinion about that. somebody said that swap is not good for our sd card, the other one said that class 10 sd card is good in writing speed but it doesn't good in random writing which it's mean class 4 is better, and many more
I just ask for your opinion, and probably u can give me an advice

Go pull it off..
And then take a look at your sdcard, if there is a number inside a small circle, that's your sdcard class
Ussualy class 10 and 6 are written, but class 2 or 4 not
U could check it via sdtool too..
Class of sdcard means the minimum write speed of that card, if u found ur average writing speed 5 or 4, below 6 it must be class 4 sd card
That's what i know..
press thanks wont hurt ur finger

There is a huge thread somewhere here about SD cards and I got the idea that a classe 4/6 is better than a class 10 for this kind oh usage. I understood that a class 10 SD card is better for hd and recording videos but for random writing speed, lower classes are better.

Yeah, just like what i though..
And this is what i got from another thread :
" Class 2 and 4 cards have better random access speed and random read/write than class 6 or 10 cards in general. To get higher sequential write speeds, manufacturers sacrifice the random access speeds. That's just how it is.
The best all around card I've ever found is Sandisk class 4.
My 32gb Sandisk class 4 outperforms any other class 10 or 2 32gb card I've tested in the random access and random read/write speeds. That's what's most important when using with WP7 or Android when using it for apps or OS files that need to be accessed quickly. Class 6 and 10 cards are setup to initialize the area of the card that is about to be used to make the sequential write/read quicker, but it takes extra time in the beginning to do the initialization. If your using the card where you need to access small bits of info from various parts of card quickly, you will do best with class 2 or 4.
Most people seem to assume that the higher the class, the better the card is for everything, but that's not how it is. Different purposes need different kinds of speed... cards with higher sequential speeds have lower random speeds."
Now i understand why my camera using class 10 sdcard

As long as it doesn't need random access, i think class 10 is good, because it has hi-speed sequential writing speed

First, do u know why RAM called Random Access Memory ?
Because it access the memory randomly
In my opinion, An operating system need random access because the system files is located in different directory, and usually has a small size.
App need fast access to the needed file, and RAM do a random access to fulfil that purpose.
Get it ?
And sequential writing is something like you record a big size video, and it stored in the storage, i think that operation need fast writing speed only in one directory, so doesn't need a random access

SWAP partition is one of the best things introduced in Linux, and so on, on Android. It's so useful for our GIO, because of its low ram capacity.
I suggest to use it, but it will shorten sdcard life (in some cases). If you really need it, what are you waiting for?
Lucky me, received my new SD Sandisk 8GB class 10 and it's specific for mobile UHC-I so it has besides good sequential speed also good random access speed will replace old card later this week and give feedback on results.
