[Q] HTC ONE X - PlayStation 3 Controller - Without Root - HTC One X

Hi all,
I have an Htc One X, and would want to use a ps3 controller to play on it.
I've already download sixaxsis. But it say ''need root''.
So i'm there, do we have a way to use my ps3 controller to play on my hox?
Thanks

As far as I know, sixaxis app is the only one that works and yes it does need root. This is the main reason I took the plunge and unlocked my bootloader and rooted mine.
It really is worth it though. Playing GTA3, Dead Trigger, Zombie driver, shadowgun etc is awesome with ps3 controller, especially if you mhl onto hd tv!
There is an app on play store to use otg to connect but you will need JB and I haven't tested it.

maXimus 12 One X

You can also connect your ps3-controller via an OTG-cable without any app (assumed you are on jb). The only problem is, that your HOX will load the battery of your ps3-controller.

And you also carnt use mhl at the same time as otg so you will have to rest your phone somewhere close iv tried so many ways but the hox is just to small to use like a tablet so no point usein without mhl or gameclip they look cool but shipping prices for a small piece of plastic is a joke

How to use controller to play games

Hey guys.
Im on mobile so cant paste a link to the video, but search youtube for "gameklip android"...saw that today and while the clip itself interests me, im more interested in how to play my games with either my wii or xbox 360 wireless controllers or my usb pc controller.
Would love to know this!
Thanks.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SIII on MetroPCS!
Depending on the game you can connect the controller with an otg cable for your pc controller and xbox with wireless adapter. For the wii controler you have to be rooted to my knowledge and use an app like bt joystick. Someone correct me if im wrong.

are you saying it's plug-n-play?!
I have an otg cable...off to try this.
EDIT: yes it is. Plugged in my pc controller and Dead Trigger picked up right away.
Question is now which games support gamepads?
I know some of the emulators will but not sure beyond that, I use sixaxis to map my ps3 controller for nova and duke nukem. It's more of a trial and error thing.

On the right path, but Wiimotecontroller and the handful of other apps I see for using Wii remotes all say they don't work on newer HTC Sense, Samsung TW, or Android JB phones (4.2 specifically). Going to read up more when time permits though, let me know if you are anyone else finds one that will specifically still work on the Sprint SGS3 *Grin* ..

HTC One X, JB, how to connect PlayStation 3 controller?

Hi all,
I've finally received ota official update to jb. All stock, I've don't make any changes.
All work pretty fine. USB otg as well.
But I would want to connect a PlayStation 3 controller. How to do this, what to do?
Thanks for replying.

you have to download an app that does that for you, Sixaxis controller is one of the best yet paid. AFAIK
the app is called "sixaxis controller" by dancing pixels studios. the app changes your ps3 controller's Bluetooth address so your phone can access it. I found it a bit cumbersome but eventually it worked fine with most games like dead trigger and shadowgun deadzone.

[Q] Anyone tried PS3 controller?

Just wondering if anyone has tried a PS3 controller on their S4 Mini?
Does it work okay?
Does it need root?
Mainly just want it for the GTA 3, VC and San Andreas when it comes out soon.
Many Thanks
Yes, tested it with sixaxis controller. As far as I remember it works without root, but then you have to connect the controller via cable. I only tested it with root.

Do you happen to know If PS3 controller works out the box with the GTA titles? Or do I need manual set-up?
I did a manual set up, but just google / youtube it.

It's the same on any android device. In this Video it seems like running without configuring the keys.

Best controller for emulators AND android games?

Can someone recommend me a controller that has good compatibility for both emulators and android games themselves? I'd like something that easily works. I'm noticing some posts around the internet where people aren't having issues with emulators, but are having issues with android games, or the exact opposite. I have a rooted fire tv in case that is needed for some controller compatibility apk.

I bought the Amazon Fire TV Game Controller, works with anything that supports gamepads. I have a PS3 & Xbox 360 controllers that worked good on somethings and sucked on others. So i've been really happy with the Amazon Game Controller.
I got the Ouya controller. It works well and functions as a mouse as well.
The Amazon controller has worked for me with:
NES
Genesis
SNES
DC
PS 1
I can not get it to figure out N64 commands, and this is an emulator problem. I may have to connect a mouse to map to the controller. If anyone has figured out N64 on Fire TV, please post
Anyone tried the Wiimote?

Which version are you using? I have the Google Play version sideloaded. I would like to get the Fire TV version as it works with the remote, but since I only have the stick, I can't purchase and download it.

I'm curious also if anyone uses a wiimote for any emulators/amazon games. Does the classic controller extension work with it? Does it even work in the emulators at all?
I want to get a controller for my FTV but I have so many around my house I don't want another one, so if I can find one that works with what I want to do I'd rather just use it
Also anyone tried using PS3 controller, does it even work?
I've heard it mentioned that it was possible but no instructions- does anyone know if a wireless Xbox 360 can be paired to the FIre TV, and if so, how? Note- I'm asking about the wireless being paired directly via bluetooth- NOT using a USB dongle or adapter.

Unless there has been some recent development on that, its not possible without the dongle sorry

No. Xbox controllers use a proprietary wireless standard, not straight Bluetooth. It can only be paired with the adapter.

[Q] games controllers for unrooted

What are the best game controller to work with an un-rooted AFTV?
With the new update I'm using my wired Xbox 360 controller plugged into a hub. It works great with KOTOR and Tales from the Borderlands.
Red samurai from GameStop
The official fire tv controller is actually pretty good. Dualshock 4 is great, but the battery only lasts a few hours.

Thanks everyone. Jsuh0 - just to confirm - does the Red Samurai work without root with the standard keymap?

I read over on http://www.aftvnews.com/alternate-game-controllers-compatible-with-the-fire-tv/ (fifth of sixth comment down) that you need root to edit the keymap for it to work properly.
+1 red samurai works great. And is cheap like $7

you can also use your xbox 360 wireless controller with the official wireless controller receiver.
worked on my AFT out of the box. just plug in the receiver and it works.

Amazon fixed the keymap with lastest fire tv update. So it doesnt need to be edited.

I don't think so. The only thing that sucks is the battery life is so bad, and there is no indicator if it is running low, so it could just die on you in the middle of a game. Besides that, it's the best possible controller you can use in my opinion. I have not used it on an unrooted ftv though, but it shouldn't make any difference.

Does this also go for the PS3 DS3 controller?
@octra,
Damn that is awesome news! What would be the button layout when using a 360 controller on an AFTV? Does the X button act as the Home button?

No, DS3 doesn't work without root. You need an app called "sixaxis controller" to use it.
is there something that can be used as an all-in-one device..gamepad, mouse,& keyboared. dont want to have to buy several pieces of hardware to use with this fire tv stick. something like the sony google tv remote . I have one of those but the stick wont recognize it , even with settings.apk
Thanks for the info. I take it sisaxis is a root only app?

dont think that is bluetooth. might have a usb dongle to be able to use which makes it impossible to use with the fire stick
