[ROOT] Wi-Fi Tether ---WORKING! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Ok guys! I have been working hard trying to figure out how to bypass T-Mobile's restriction for Wi-Fi tether or hotspot. And i have found a fix that works for me. ONLY Galaxy Note II T-Mobile Variants have been tested!
First off you MUST BE ROOTED for this to work!
Follow the steps below on how to successfully have Wi-Fi tether.
Step 1:
Download this file and install it on your Note II: http://d-h.st/k6d
Step 2:
Make sure you have BusyBox installed (Download Busybox installer from play store)
Step 3:
Open the Wifi-Tether APP

}
Step 4:
Start the Hotspot and then stop it
Step 5:
Go into the settings by clicking the menu button and then settings
Step 6:
Click on change device profile and then choose "Galaxy S3"
Step 7:
Now start it back up and BANG. You should have Hotspot
TroubleShooting:
Still not connecting? Try one of the following:
*Turn on Access Control
*Enable Wifi-Encryption
Or leave a comment below and I will try and fix it.
Slow speeds? Try one of the following:
*Get in a place that has faster speeds
*EDGE speeds are very slow and will not run a hotspot at all...YOU NEED 4G
*Reboot phone after installation or changing of settings
I worked hard to find a fix for this! If this worked for you all I ask is you to please give me "thanks".

Didn't work for me. Tried it but my ps3 won't even detect the network

Are you the original dev of the tether app? If so, please disregard this post. Otherwise, you should contact the orginal dev and obtain a permission to post his app here, and give a proper credit to the guy.

[Q] Using wireless tethering on Verizon?

Hey guys, I just switched to Verizon, got a Nexus, and rooted it. I was wondering just how easy is it to get caught by Verizon if I use the wireless tether apk? I'd appreciate it if someone posted their experiences with it. Thanks!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I use it all the time and have never got an email in the past 2 years, and I use at least 5-10GB a month.
this is the first time i use it constantly . because of the 4G speeds. i havent got a email or a text from them.
before i had it with my incredible but hardly use it, because of the slow 3G speeds.
Alright thanks! This is actually my first experience with android on a phone (other one was CM7 on my Nook Color) and I had just always read that you get lots of sudden charges so its good to have peace of mind.
Sorry for the bump, I've got one more question. Wireless tether seems to give me a much higher data usage reading than the settings app in ICS. After using it a bit it said I used 500kb while the settings app reported that I used 1 KB. Is there a reason for this?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
If you're really stupid about how much you use it, they will catch on but if you're smart about it you can get away with it a lot.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
noob here . I looked around here , but cant find much about installing all these different things. Id like wifi tethering to work . I only need it very seldom but would like to have it when i do . How do you install?
thanks , Dan

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah im rooted and running ARHD 2.1.2
I will try pre111. Thanks.
Hmm well I am just running stock 4.0.2 and it runs fine. The only issue is after I turn off wireless tethering the phone crashes. A restart fixes it though.

Hmm that's odd. Maybe some incompatibility with ARHD? Did you move to pre111?
On a side note, how is ARHD compared to stock?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I did go to pre111 and got the exact same errors
It could be ARHD related as i thought this also but dont feel like flashing back to stock right now
As for stock v/s ARHD comparison, I wasnt on stock long enough to compare
Alright, so I just flashed ARHD onto my Nexus and wifi tether is still working fine. Did you give it super user permissions?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Of course i did silly
Im running radio 4.03
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403133
Wifi Tether will not work with 4.03. I consistantly get errors in the startup log. Even worse, when on wifi at home im fine and my signal icons are blue meaning im connected to google servers. But if i disconnect off wifi and use my cellular 3G connection my signal icons stay grey and will not turn blue.
I had to flash back to 4.02 and instantly got blue icons on 3G and now my Wifi Tether works.

Wireless tether apps fix for CM7.2 users

I found that wireless tethering apps would not work with CM based Roms and it was driving me crazy because I like AOSP so I found a fix finally. This is for people that DONT LIKE THE HOTSPOT and use wireless tethering apps like barnacle.
1. Flash a sense rom.
2. With a root file explorer of your choice navigate to etc/firmware.
3. Copy fw_bcm4329_apsta.bin and fw_bcm4329.bin. save these in a location on the SD card.
4. Flash you favorite AOSP rom.
5. Find the two files on your SD card and copy them.
6. Paste BOTH of the files in etc/firmware. Change the permissions to (see screenshot)

}
7. Reboot
8. Fire up your favorite tethering app and enjoy.

Hmm... I thought more people would be interested in this. I guess others don't have issues with the hotspot like I do.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
Most roms have built in wireless tethering without the need of an app. For instance, CM7 or CM9 has the tethering options under wireless networks.
Don't reply if you didn't read the OP. I don't like the built in feature because it doesn't work as well. This is for people that want to use wireless tether apps and NOT the hotspot.

Very Helpful
disconnecktie I love you. I've been stuck on stock rom for 8 months or so. I removed bloatware of course. I couldn't get wireless tether to work on any other rom. And that is the main reason that I rooted. Now I'm rocking cm9 bracketkang with working tether. Ics beats the @#$% out of sense 2.0. Thanks again. Any recommendations on other roms that I should check out?

Just curious, but why don't you like the built in tether in CM7 and CM9???? I have had zero issues with them and they seem to work a ton better than barnacle did when I tried it..Just wondering
I don't use these illegitimate apps for illegal tethering. I don't want to be stuck paying 30 a month for the next year of my life because Verizon found out

Thanks for that knipp. It's ok though. I'm not promoting the use of illegal tethering at all. If someone else is and they are looking for a fix for that app then this is a guide for them. If anyone has a problem with people that use the app then make a thread and complain about it to those that care because I don't really give a damn.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
Omg!The dev here is trying to help out people, and instead of thanking him you guys are simply complaining?Come on its common sense that its for guys who have got problem with inbuilt tether and obviously who are using 3rd party apps for the same!!If its not for you, just ignore the thread instead of trolling.
Btw.i have a rezound on a de-sensed Rom -Can i use the fix?

mine asked for root the first time and that was it. I noticed that psycho4us4 had no popup ask him for permision but he said he set to just grant so maybe you should check your supersu settings first and then maybe try restarting the app or phone. you know its working if your speed test uploads are insane or more then 30mbps

Automatic Call Recording and Full Screen Photo

There was a link posted on here. but the download no longer works.
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=503233&st=720#entry26117532
The name of the SecPhone.apk replacement is:
Poppuri Mod Full Screen Photo combined with Mythtrandyr Auto CallRecord
Mythtrandyr posted his auto call record here for Note 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498449 , but it doesn't have the full screen photo as part of it.
Poppuri posted his full screen mod here (which has the auto call record), but that version is for Note II and he hasnt posted since April http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046086
Anyone know where to find this combined apk?

I was able to get these settings now from Xposed Installer. And then downloaded "Enable Call Recording" and "Xposed Full Screen Call Picture"
No idea where the sound files go, but it records and has full screen caller HD ID

Place the SecTelephonyProvider.sms in System/App and set permissions, remove/rename original.
