Hey guys I have had an issue every since I calibrated my battery. My phone does not charge. At first itll charge then it will show that pop-up that the device is not connected to an outlet when it really is. I dont know if this helps but the battery icon shows the charge flash like the thunder little icon and then goes away. Should it be flashing when it charges or an constant thunder sign? Any help greatly appreciated.
Any help guys this is really pissing me off!
Is there an option to wipe battery stats in your recovery? If not, do a factory reset back to stock unrooted, then do a factory reset and wipe, and see if that helps..
First the obvious, have you tried different outlets/plugs or a different cord, move the jig around a little, might be defective port (little hole you plug the metal into) lol.
I have tried different plugs and outlets. It will charge so slow and I think thats because its constantly charging and then not charging and then charging. Like the icon in the battery will constantly flash.
Did you try a different cord?

I tried a different cord and battery and same problem. Im starting to think its the charging port flaw. Does anyone know a place to get that fixed in NYC? Also should I try reverting back to stock and unroot and all that and see if that has an effect?

If you never had the problem before calibrating your battery, then yes. Make sure your wipe the cache and do a factory reset after you odin back to stock

My phone has started acting weird lately and im not sure why, it could just be a bad battery but im not sure until i put another one in it tomorrow. Ive been using myns 2.2 for a few weeks, and cm6 for a long time.
Myns has been setup the same way for weeks, no changes at all. Yesterday i woke up and my phone was dead, but before i went to sleep it had a little over 70% battery.
Its not my charger ives tried different usb cables, car charger, etc. The battery icon will change to charging but the % never goes up....
Any other ideas except a bad battery?
Could always do a nandroid backup, then do a wipe reinstall, just to see if its OS or app related. Then if no change was found in regards to battery drainage, you could go do a nandroid restore, if you found it was just a bad battery all along.

i did a backup and full wipe earlier when my phone still had about 30% battery. Still wont charge.
Turn your phone off, and plug it into a USB charger, see if it charges. If not, try plugging into a USB port on a laptop/desktop, while the phone's still off.
Just a shot in the dark here.

yeah ive tried to charge it every way possible lol. thanks for the suggestions though!
So your usb will power the phone enough to turn on? Can you do all adb type things like the USB is connecting right? It could always be the battery or bad contacts/solder on the phone part

Assuming you flashed new Rom correctly, you can start to look at battery and hardware.
Id start wig battery, maybe sprint store has one laying around they could pop in ling enough to observe its behavior. Maybe buy heap battery from ebay.
I m not the authority on anything but I would flash back to stock and ask Sprint store to help you out. If you walk in with custom Rom they may flag you. I find it hard to believe you have a bad battery already, but I have seen stranger things.
How long does it take to charge? And precisely how long it last? An hour? 30mins?
Oh my bad, I see its not charging at all. Could be bad cable. Bad thing is, if they find that he usb port is damaged they may not warranty that. But who knows.

ok well its been solved. narrowed it down to the usb port. sprint guy agreed and ill have a replacement on wednesday!
have you checked this out

i would give that a shot if you can even get it to come on long enough or a way to get your battery to charge.
I'm having the problem your describing.

I'm having the problem your describing. Do you know how to fix it? I've seen a couple of threads One said to flash the radio, but no one provides any links as to how to do it. I could really use some help.
Thanks,
Lance
When this morning when I unplugged my phone from my USB charger, the "lightning bold" charging icon stayed on. Reboot, still stays. Any ideas?
Edit: After battery pull, same problem. Also, immediately after boot, it flickers back and forth between the charging/not charging battery icons. Again, this is with NO charger connected. WTF.
Edit 2: Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkGrcumdyEg (sorry the 360p version is upside down, please watch the 480p version).

Bump, anyone have any ideas?
Every time the icon turns on, it wakes my phone up and turns the screen on. It's really killing my battery. This is bad :/
was it just this morning? every morning? what happens if you plug a different cable in? a car charger or something? If it still persists after all that, I'd say take it back.

This happens when it's not plugged in.
I ordered from UK, not sure how "just take it back" works in this situation
ok it sounded like it started this morning AFTER you unplugged it. Thats why I suggested plugging it into another cord and see if that changes anything.

Yeah, it started this morning, but I've plugged it in and unplugged it and tried everything a thousand times since then. I've factory reset, I flashed stock images with fastboot, etc.
I've made a video of the problem and I'll post the link after it finishes uploading.
I've added a video to the OP.
wow so the whole screen does that too not just the tiny battery icon on the top bar? It's blurry what the charging screen says. I don't know what to tell you and you said you'd done battery pulls. maybe leave the batt out a half hour see what happens?

Yes, the phone is behaving as if a charging cable is being plugged in and then removed, over and over and over.
Basically you have 2 simple options:
1) Do a factory reset wiping the whole phone
2) exchange it for a new one
If 1 doesn't work, then your problem is hardware related which means you should just exchange it - even if it is a PITA sending it back to the UK.
edit: looks like you may have already tried factory resetting it as it looks like the initial setup screen is popping up in your video. If that's the case, I'd return if for either a new one, or deal with the RMA process...
Yup, did a factory reset, re-flashed stock images, nada.
Currently, I just finished charging the phone to 100% while powered off, then removed the battery, and I'm letting it sit for a while. I'll pop it back in in a few and see what happens.
What a pain.
Well that didn't work either. Now the charging icon and "USB connected" indicators just stay on all the time.
I can only assume this is a faulty USB female port. Any DIY tricks? Or should I just send it back to England and wait it out?

Maybe it's got some metal bits shorting out some contacts in the port or something. Other then blowing out the usb port on it with some compressed air, I wouldn't do much else.
I thought I would try one more time to erase everything and flash stock images from Google.
When I do this:
Code:
fastboot erase data
I get this;
Code:
erasing 'data'... FAILED (remote: Unknown Partition)
Also if I try to format /data in ClockworkMod recovery, I get:
Error... Could not mount /data.

So I have done some searching and I know I am not alone with experiencing this.
Basically my phone doesn't really want to charge (last night off and plugged in it did charge but did not look like it was charging) and I have seen usb\unknown in device manager but more recently it doesn't show up at all.
My boot loader is unlocked but I am running 4.1.1 Yakju stock and I am on the stock boot loader. I have seem some suggestions of resetting battery statistics but I do not have CWM on this phone, is there any other way to do this or does anyone have any other suggestions besides sending the phone for repair? I don't really want to go without a phone.

Wiping battery stats does absolutely nothing at all related to your problem. If you already tried cleaning the USB port, I'd say you definitely have a hardware issue there. Like I just said in another thread similar to this one: you can try to tweak the connector pins yourself, or claim warranty.

I did try cleaning the port but did not see any improvement. I also don't see any issue with the pins but maybe I am wrong.
So I'm currently using the Suarom ROM, and for the most part it's been working fine. Suddenly I have a problem. Last night I plug my phone in to charge and suddenly it won't charge. I tried with two separate chargers.
It's still a new phone, so I can bring it in for warranty work. I just want to make sure I take all the steps necessary to "un void" the warranty. I'm a Rogers customer. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.
Theres a thread in the DEV section that provides instructions of how to completely un-root and restore your device to factory before you turn it in for services.
The only problem is, my battery is at ten percent with no way to charge. The strange thing is that when I plug the phone in, the charging symbol appears. Just doesn't charge. Any idea why that would be ?

Tried different chargers? maybe plug it up to your PC see if you can get some juice that way? i can see the cable/charger going bad before the usb port on the phone ( but **** happens ) 10 percent should be good enough to get your phone back to stock though, i did it at 7 percent not to long ago, you just cant play around you have to click and run and get it done so it does not die. then if it dies after at least you are stock and can just turn it back in. but to be honest for a charger problem i VERY SERIOUSLY doubt they will be looking at Software and roms. thast a defect, and i think they will just do a clean swap----JUST LET IT DIE so they can not turn it back on in the store..lol
Ya could have a derpy battery and the phones fine.

Yeah, I have tried three chargers with no luck. Haven't tried a PC yet but will after work.
So if I'm getting the lightning bolt charging symbol, odds are it'llbe the battery rather than the port?
take it to best buy or an at&t store....and just say, hey i think i may have a bad battery do you have one i can use to see if my phone will power on and recognize the charger after it is plugged in. then you will know, unless you have an extra battery just laying around.
I had a similar problem like this before. Try charging with the phone off.
OR
If you want to troubleshoot and isolate the problem, try getting an external battery charger and a spare battery.
If you charge your stock battery and it charges with the external charger, your phone may be the problem. If not, then it's the stock battery.
And with the spare battery, try charging it via phone charger.
These are the possible ways I can think of at the moment. Hope this helps!
My GN2 just randomly started an issue with charging. Sometimes it will charge for about 10 minutes then it will stop. Other times it won't even recognize that I have plugged it in. Other times I will plug it in, the charging LED light will turn on, but the phone won't actually state that it is charging and won't charge regardless. It will not charge while it is turned off either. I have tried 4 different cables and blocks, tried using my computer to charge it but it doesn't recognize it anymore either. I have wiggled it into different positions, cleaned out the port, wiped cache and dalvik, flashed my ROM again, ect. The problem still persists. Do you think it is a faulty/damaged charging port? I have purchased a new one and a going to replace it when it arrives in about a week. Any other ideas in the meantime as to what it might be and how to solve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
In case it matters: I am using Beanstalk 4.4 from Will03. Been running it for months with zero issues.

Sounds like you have a bad port. The ports on these seem to get loose fairly easily. The replacement process is super easy. I did mine in about 10 minutes. If it hadn't been the first time it would have been faster.

In the sentence where op mentions "cables and blocks", "blocks" means charger. OP has gone through pretty much all the reasonable troubleshooting steps. Only thing else is wipe, then Odin the UVALK1 ROM and see if that works.
Doubt it will at this point and with a suspected bad port I wouldn't risk dropping the USB connection in middle of a flash.
