Hello Guys,
I know there are LOTS OF topics for that, but nothing helped me to make ma desire faster ...
I tried a million ROMs , and i must say the best and fastest ROM was MIUI but there i had the SIMLOCK problem, i dont know if its fixed now. ( but i like Sense ROMS)
Im using the RCmix HD ROM now and i wanted to tell that my smartphone become very laggy when i began to use a Sende ROM ...
I tried everything : Task Killer, Overclocking the CPU but nothing helped.. Now im thinking about selling my smartphone if i cant get it faster ...
It would be great if someone can help me out of this problem
Could be a number of issues. Install a stock rom and see if you get anywhere with that. Define laggy as well.
PS. Don't use task killers.
I want to try with an other kernel, but i never made it before, changing the kernel.
I know how to install it but dont know whcih kernel i must choose for the RCMix HD Rom...
If someone show me a good kernel for this it would be very helpful
Could be some programs that you're running/didn't close properly that is using up the cpu.
I personally can swear by Oxygen rom(Froyo) and GingerVillian (Gingerbread).
I've been using gingervillian for more than a month and its very fast.

Err, i find it acceptable. But that's just me, you should try different roms, to see what you like best.

Which type of HD Rom are you running? A2SD, D2EXT, A2WE
Just wondering what roms fellow TELUS Desire HD users are using, and if you're experiencing any mass bugs? I'm currently running ARHD 3 with sense. After install I still needed to install the telus/inspire audio fix because prior to it my calls sounded horrible. I haven't played much with setcpu, but have pushed my CPU up to 1.2ghz for a bit. The first Rom I used was raidroid and as of yet I haven't flashed any custom kernels. I've also flashed the elequant blue theme for a quick change but I'm already becoming restless. For the record though everything seems to be running fine eg. WiFi, video, weather. Also note - before ARHD 3 I did a full wipe. So what are your suggestions for a different kernel or do you think there is a better alternative rom, or ones to stay clear of for now?
My Telus DHD with ARHD 3.0 has one bug in it, It wont let me connect to the mobile network. When I try to turn it on it just gets stuck at "Turning On" and doesn't progress. If anyone knows what i need to do to fix it (other than flashing ARHD 2.1), it would be much appreciated
I'm running CyanogenMod 7 nightly #11 on my Telus desire HD. Been pretty happy with it, no major issues or bugs.

Did you do a full wipe before flash? Also I flashed Telus Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 awhile back (via usb/pc not clockwork mod). Lastly I used APN Manager to backup my APN before I ever flashed any roms and then I reinstall and restore my APN backup everytime I flash a new rom. Did you configure your APN?

Nice thats what I want to try next. Any extra effort required eg. Telus Kernal?
The only other thing I had to do was flash the inspire audio fix to get rid of the tinny sound.

Ill wait for #13. They say everything will be fixed in it and nothing more will be needed.
Decided to Try CoreDroid 3.1 Themed
Wow. I'm loving it. Blazing fast great battery life, and love the experience. My favorite so far for the speed and simplicity and the very subtle theme tweaks. You can tell they took their time getting this right. My only 2 beefs are that the home screen launcher bar looks almost like the basic stock one even though its menus are awesome, and I had to select United States english. But damn that's knit picking this rom is awesome. Also I had to flash the Inspire 4G/Telus audio fix for phone calls, and set APN manually. The only downside is when I finished completing a full wipe and flash of the ROM 3.1 they released 3.2 with an updated kernel. 3.2 is based on 1.84.661.1 and the recommended radio is 26.06.03.24_M2. Sounds like a perfect match for me to Telus. I'll let you know how it goes tonight.
And by that I mean most advanced. I'm the Sense loving guy, but I've heard a lot of good things about ICS. I'd like to try it out, but honestly I can't figure out which of the few existing ROMs to choose. I'm aware of that most of them are still in the alpha-beta phase, but I hoped someone could help me pick one. Or is it better to just wait for Sense 3.6 ROM?
I can vouch for the Sandvold ICS (Bet 0.3.6). I have been running it on my Desire for several days now. If you use Titanium Backup, be careful restoring too much of the system data (I successfully restored the SMS/MMS stuff, but didn't bother with anything else). I also had to restore my APN settings to default to get my mobile data to work (Settings->More->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names->Menu->Reset to default).
I can also confirm that partictioning your SD card to provide an sd-ext works along with a2sd (including the Dalvik Cache) - the the Desire has a ridiculously small amount of internal ram.
Haven't had any issues at all.
Damian
i can recommand BCM b0.3.3 (Bravo CM9) rom which you find here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1403113
using it for days now and semms to be very stable. i came from the sandvold rom. in my opinion the cm9 rom is a bit faster than the sandvold rom.
i deleted some apps to fit the rom in data++ hboot. but i think app2sd works fine with this rom
i'm using BCM too for a while now, very stable.
I have had a strange wifi problem (the wifi router on chanel 13 hasn't been seen by phone, the one on chanel 7 without problem) fixed with wifixmanager.
In my opinion, Sense is not needed dead freight.

Chromium v1.5 ICS custom rom with a lot of tweaks and much more, fast and stable.

I've tried both Sandvold an BCM, and my favorite is BCM. Both roms works well on my phone, but I had an issue with the sound quality on Sandvolds rom when playing music. I also like some of the features that CM brings, but that is my personal opinion. Both roms are stable on my phone.
I only tried Sandvolds Rom until now but maybe Im going to try BCM

That looks interesting I'm getting my hands on a Desire phone that I will setup for my gf. Can't you make a thread here on XDA for the VQ on the Desire in English as my polish is non existent
There are more feedback between Sandvod and BCM ?
BCM-b0.3.4
Now i have an GPS issue, everything else seems to run without problem, or better, like a charm
I had this GPS issue before, than, after an update, it was gone, now it's back.
"stop-and-go" gps, reception every some seconds.

Hello!
I have installed the BCM b0.3.4 today. Although it makes a good impression, it seems to drain the battery. No idea what it is about, but the phone is hot and its CPU work with its maximum frequency.
Best regards!

New Sandvold build is the tits, I'm surprised at how far they've come, tried the bcm build as per recommendation of people here but battery died way too fast and wasn't as stable.
I am also on Sandvold. I have it running for 2 days now and haven't come across a single bug until now.
At first it was very slow and laggy, but after 2 hours or so (I really don't know why. 2 hours for everything loading at first boot?) it became all smooth.
The only thing that REALLY REALLY annoys me is that I am stuck with 5 homescreens, when I only need 2 or 3.
ATTENTION!
Sandvold's ROM came with data roaming enabled per default!
If you live close to the border you should check that setting before entering your SIM card PIN.
I've tried them both. Sandvod's version is much better, no bugs for me so far
I've been using Sandvold's rom for a while now. Newest version is excellent. Plus the gallery actually works with it!
Also you can change the battery indicator from this thread. I'm currently using v.4.
Now i'm using Miui-2.1.27 ICS, and it works very well . I like so much Miui customisation

Hello!
I found a serious bug: Obviously the VPN via IPSEC/L2TDP is broken in all Android 4-versions. For me this is a no-go and I reverted back to CM 7.
I have been using MIUI-XJ and just love MIUI. However I have found that there are other versions of the ROM in english including an official one. Can anyone please tell me what the difference are and which one is best to use?
I've been using the MIUI build from MIUI.us. After I ran into some awkward things with MIUI XJ, which was my first MIUI, too, I switched to MIUI.us and ran it without problems for many months.
I don't remember exactly because it's such a long time ago, but I think what I didn't like about MIUI XJ at the time was that I ran into some chinese language from time to time and that I couldn't get the updater to work.
With MIUI.us everything was always 100% translated and the updater worked, too. I also liked that you don't have to make so many choices between different versions. There is just 1.
My battery life was quite poor with the standard kernel, that's why I went with Tiamat.
Was very satisfied and never had any problems.
used miui englands rom for 2 months etc but found browser could not cope with flash etc however English translation is almost full except on lock screen , now using miui us as i found it was overall consistent with performance in comparison to miui England rom . just remember bits of chinese or untranslated bits of the rom do occur and no rom is fully English.
Thank you guys for the point to right direction. Does the US ROM has to be used in US? or will it work ok with UK carriers??
miui us cater for both gsm and cdma devices , just because it says us it doenst mean your device is not supported .
if i am not mistaken the uk desire uses a sim card right (then ure gsm)? if it does choose the gsm rom on there download page , if your phone does not use a sim card then ure using a cdma phone ( cdma has the sim card etc built in i think) however i doubt it cause realy i find cdma phones only in the us in my opinion .just to let you know the setup wizard on this rom when it starts is choppy / slow but once you get past it everything else works well and smooth .
another good english miui would be australia's one but i found the page to be a little unorgniosed and the roms were hard to find , miui au is doing an ics build but doesnt have all the features of gb builds .(off topic )
good luck and happy flashing ...
Thank you for the guidance.

I have been using MIUI.US for several months now and just recently a few areas have been coming up in Chinese.. mostly the calendar and the browser. I can't seem to find fully translated versions of either without pulling from older versions.
Otherwise I am very happy with MIUI
Also, not sure yet who is at fault (I haven't tried finding out) but I cannot get Titanium backup to properly connect with Market in MIUI, but works fine on Sense ROM. Just FYI, may or may not affect you.

i've heard some apps etc from the market weren't working to well with xj.
us and au cater for there perspective country's , i found au's rom inconsistent in some area's eg when you press the home button going to the home screen ,although not a major issue it is something i noticed . with us rom i found the startup wizard to be choppy but after that a really smooth rom none of that inconsistancy found in au's rom .
I use galnet Miui. They have weekly alpha/beta builds as well as their stable builds. I've had no problems in a few updates and it is running fine on my SGS2. I've only tried this and the official Rom though.
Hi all,
I hope the developers read this also.
I dont get it, there are so manny different roms here, why are those people not working together for one stable rom?
I abused my Phone the last weeks with alot of roms found in development but all had issues, the issues dint resolve but the developer is paying attention to other version of android.?
Dont see this as a big flame to all of you,, i really love the fact that people put time in a old Phone like mine and make a nice rom for it.
But still... why so manny different roms? i see dev's having 3 threads with 3 different roms and there all apha beta, but no stables?
Is it a who's got the biggest brain idea here? or do i see it complete wrong?
Because 4.1.2 isnt stable but all the time goes in 4.2? then why even bother to make 4.1.2 if its Always stays in apha...
isnt that just a waste of time? isnt it alot better if the dev's working as 1 team?
My question is:
What rom is 4.1.2 or 4.04 and stable?
For now i'm using nikez lente 3.1P1 ? (the latest for 4.1.2) with nightly
but its crashing to much
But i really would like to see a stable 4.04 / 4.1.2 because it looks great!
Again dont see the evil in this post, its really something i just dont get and like to know why...
And yes big typing mistakes sorry

There are no stable ICS or JB ROMs for the Desire. Period.
And in all probability there won't be one too because our phone hardware just doesn't support these newer versions.
There are many stable and fully functioning GB ROMs.

just my point. When i look @ cynagogen site or evervolv you see alot of work in custom roms, but none are stable as in works like you buy it from the shop.
Ofcourse Custom roms need alot of developing, bugs are easy to make, but i just dont get it why you make alot of time en effort into a rom like 4.1.2 and then suddenly you drop it and lets do 4.2 now...
The saddest part is that alot of you people donate a bit monny for the time they put into the rom but then at the end you got a bug Phone and a new rom 4.2 thats crashes 90% of your time... oo yes cool 4.2 lets donate spend time on it until where alpha / beta en then we spend time for android 5!
i just dont get that...
I dont like gingerbread or 2.1 2.2 2.3 etc i want 4.0.4 or 4.1 / 4.1.2 specialy the last on from nikez lente works for a alpha pretty good so you should think where almost there but then you can read where spending or time in 4.2... pffff
Well maybe its just me but i never seen this way of working before.
I dont have the monny to buy me a 4.1 android Phone. So i would like to have a stable rom and wanna put time it in but why not all the developers at the same time. i really think you can get a good rom in 1 month then.

Sandvold's ICS was very stable when I used to use it. Some odd FC were an issue but it was so rare that it never bothered me. Maybe give that a try even though it hasn't been updated for a while, it's still ICS on a Desire.

What you need to understand is that developers are trying to bring the latest and the greatest of Android to Desire. Stable GB updates for Desire were released when even HTC had given up on official GB update.
To use ICS or JB on Desire, you need to accept that it will never be as fast a SIII or OneX simply due to hardware limitations. Still there are ICS & JB ROMs available stable enough to be used on a daily basis quite comfortably. Multiple devs working on the same problem is not the solution.
If you can't upgrade to a JB phone, install a good JB ROM like Vijendra's CM10 JB and enjoy the new features with occasional restarts. But if photo and video recording is important to you even with the poor old 5 MP camera on our Desire, stick to GB.
I like vijndra's cm10 JB - rom based in evervolv. It is fast and very stable.

@Tim
You've got it totally wrong. The devs here aren't miracle workers. They just slightly edit from the resources they gain, to make it their own.
Just because a rom is titled alpha, doesn't mean it in no way can be a finalized rom.
If the resource from start isn't even beta, don't think the devs are god and can change this. You should adjust your expectations.
However I get you're frustrations about donating.
