Ibolt dock, do I need car home ultra? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

So I just bought a car dock, which I must add that it's great and highly recommend it. Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong, but having an s3 with S Voice do i really need a car home app? Just seems kind of pointless. S Voice gives me the ability to pretty much do anything and I think installing a car home app is not needed at all. If I'm missing something here let me know. Not trying to sound like a smart a**. If someone our there thinks it's something I need, please explain why. Just want to be sure I'm not missing something here.

Sir, i think you posted this in the wrong forum. But since i'm here, my opinion is that using S voice or car home is totally a user preference. I myself like car home ultra but it's a paid app and like you said you can the end results with s voice or other free apps.

Tha ks for your input on s voice. Mods, if this is indeed the incorrect forum, could you please move it. I thought being that car home is an app, this would be the correct place.

[Q] Bluetooth watches

http://cgi.ebay.com/Watch-Bluetooth...20643666546?pt=PDA_Accessories#ht_2202wt_1133
iono if anyones seen these, or better have them but i'm thinking about purchasing one and wanted to know if it works on our evo's well.
MBW-150
I have the "executive" SonyEricsson BT watch, and have it working with my Evo. It actually works better with the 3rd-party software than it did with officially supported SE handsets. I have used my watch with a Windows Mobile and now Android. My only complaint on Android is that it doesn't support Exchange email, but works for SMS messages. Caller ID, etc. seems to work just fine.
sorry to ask.. but whats the point of this.. like why use it?
thanks
never messed with BT watches...not stylish enough for me
wow now that's nerdy
Nah its like some james bond ****, and say your in a situation where you can't just pull your phone out but you just wanna see who text you. There's some pretty nice lookin ones too
Looks incredibly gay, I mean it looks like it's for women.
Do women know how to use BT?

I agree that's pretty F'n cool, but I also agree that particular one appears rather feminine.
So many times it's annoying to take the phone out of your pocket, put it back, just so you can see one stupid text message that you really didn't need to bother taking it out for. But this would only be cool if it supports reading text messages. No point if it's only for calls. I'm subscribing, definitely let us know if you buy one!!!
This would be brilliant for me on my motorcycle! then i can decide if a call/text is important enough to pull over and deal with it.
Haha they get pricey, I looked up that sony one, a little too rich for my blood but theres some good looking touch screens ones

I own the mbw-150 classic and I love it. The best part is the mute ringer. I also like the fact the it shows battery levels. The black classic looks the most normal
to me.

These Sony watches appear to be the best ones out there I can't find any information about any other watch.
yes it works... the openwatch app works well. The agenda openwatch plug-in does not. What this means is that you get to control audio play, pause, ff, rw, and vol up and down. You also get mail notification that includes the sender and some small details of the message, usually the subject line. You get SMS notification that includes sender and the sms txt. You get battery in a percentage form. GTalk does not work yet. The agenda plug-in does not work right now since moving to froyo.

Has anybody tried the bracelets yet? So do these watches work in conjunction with a bluetooth headset?

Motorolla Roadster!

I just picked up a motorolla roadster. For anyone who doesnt know what it is. Its a bluetooth device that will do anything Sync will do. It will play music, text, phone calls, all wireless and all through your cars speakers. And it works amazing. Anyone else have it? I liked it so much i got one for my girlfriend and my father. Its simple and works amazing. No need for cd or mp3 players anymore. Spotify and google music work flawless through my speakers! Loving it!

That's what I want to know. The only way it could is either it plugs into the AUX jack of your car or uses the stereos radio frequency.

Turns out to be FM radio. Just found it.
You put it on fm mode and pick a all static station. It comes in extremely clear tho it is perfect. Spotify and this is amazing. Road trips are even better now. Love this thing

Been using the Motorola Rockr for a year now, love it
The Roadster look nice. Even though my 2011 VW GTI has built in bluetooth, I hate the lack of dedicated buttons for its function to make it work. I have to fumble thru the in dash menu, which though not much of a hassle makes its use somewhat inconvenient (damn am I lazy or what? lol)
I have the rokr head phones also and love them but roadster is way better. And lol i dont think your lazy i use my fathers and honestly my roadster is more user friendly and easier to use. I am an indirect dealer. I sell verizon and sprint and since we got these in ive been selling the heck out of them. And havnt had a complaint everyone is loving it!
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Quick question: Can you still listen to cd's or in my case, a usb connected device (flash drive, mp3 player etc) without disconnecting from the FM frequency? As it is once I pop in a cd my head unit displays the cd GUI functions & not the radio.
You can still use them ofcourse but i dont need to i have all my cds on my phone. But yes you can still use them it will just reuire u to switch to fm when a call comes in. So basically u would have to push the fm button on your car. The roadster will stay in fm mode. Another great thing about it is it shuts off when you arnt using it to save battery but as soon as u get in the car again it can sense it and auto turns on. Its very cool

Just bought a dock

Phillips Flexidock, bought it at TMobile for 30% off ($67). I always wanted a dock like this but only seen them for apple products. Its wireless (Bluetooth), and you can adjust it for different phones to get a perfect fit. I enjoy this going to sleep lol.
looks kinda cool, how is it? brief review would be cool
Show us how it works
Looks nice, what does it do? I originally wanted the Motorola Photon, because it would be easy to use as a desktop computer, using the dock that they make. I wanted to use it as a prepaid on the T-Mobile network. I found out that even unlocked, it could not be done. I am going to receive, very shortly the T989 and have purchased a slew of accessories for it to use as a desktop computer. Why doesn't Samsung and the providers recognize the fantastic selling tool of having a true multimedia dock, that would allow the easy addition of peripherals. I wish the phone came with a separate HDMI out port, that would have simplified a lot. The SGS2 is a very popular phone. Someone could get rich making an after market dock with the right features for the SGS2.
This is my first smartphone and my 1st post, so I'm a noob of a noob, but that doesn't make me a nob. I will probably burden many of you in the future with T989 questions. Can't wait to get my phone. Still looking for a proper dock. Maybe this one will work. Waiting anxiously for a review.
Does it have a remote too?

OBD-II scanner for GS3?

hey guys.
I've been wanting to get my hands on a OBD-II scanner to check out my car and have with me when we are out car-shopping in the next couple of months.
looking at the play store, I think I want to get Torque Pro as the software, but i'm wondering what hardware to get. I don't mind it being wired, micro-usb. don't need fancy bluetooth or wifi scanners. i just want it to be good but not overly expensive.
any recommendations?
if you get something setup can you please post your setup?
This is all you need along with the torque app. It's the exact one I'm using.
http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=160902041473
I'm using it and its working gr8!! Make sure your car supports obd2 before you buy it and the guy from torque app recommended good warranty from the seller. I'm assuming they break easily.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Just as a heads up...if you plan on using it for logging, the bluetooth ones typically read pretty slow. If it is just for code reading, that is pretty decent.
wow that is awesome. and so cheap. I'm really only looking for reading codes so I can spot those issues when shopping for cars and whenever I get a check engine light. my mechanic is a close childhood friend and he's got the $5000(+?) computer + scanner setup but i want this for smaller things so I don't have to bother him all the time.
I'll get my hands on these and report on how it works.
I paid close to thirty over two years ago for that same unit and I don't regret it at all.... works great. the torque app is one of the better if not the best app keeping up to date. I highly recommend this set up
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
why did I think this would be a several hundred dollar set up?
anyways, I'm hoping it's good. already ordered mine with expedited shipping. i'll wait to get torque when I receive the hardware.
thanks everyone!
I also can confirm that bt obd2 scanner and torque work great on my sch-i535 with jb
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Is there something like this but to read RPMs and fuel compsomtion on real time or something like that?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
This can read rpms in real time, and a lot of other things. I'll take some screen shots when I head out later.
are there any bluetooth obd-II readers that *don't* work with the GSIII? I was looking at a different one, so just curious if there was a certain type to stay away from.
I have this one: http://www.scantool.net/scan-tools/obdlink-bluetooth.html
It's worked great for me so far. Other than some PIDs not pulling because Ford wants to use proprietary codes, it's pulled everything I could want. I've used Torque, DashCommand, and a few other apps I can't remember right now, with no problems.

Lets be clear. the BT OBD2 has no limits. its a "dumb dongle"
the "intelligence" is in your car and in the software you run.
Torque will read just about anything SO what "YOU" can read is dictated by what the manufacturer of your car elected to make available over the ODBII data pipe.
fuel air and rpm are usually available.
that makes it sound even better. awesome. can't wait to get mine. should be here monday.
I actually just got the bafx scanner and bought torque pro. Its pretty nifty stuff and not a bad price.

Yep, I have the same setup. Works perfectly. The Dev for Torque also updates regularly, so he is staying on top of new cars.
And any US car made after 1996 is supposed to have an OBD-II connector, usually located under the steering wheel near the fuse panel (for most cars made in late 90's at least.)
Looks like fun! That ebay link doesn't list 02 Toyota camry but I know it has a obd2 port.. Maybe it's just not listed?

[Q] Peel Smart Remote on G3

My wife just bought an S5, and I've really taken a liking to the Smart Remote app on that phone. It's available on the Play Store, but only if you have certain Samsung phones. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about getting this app on the G3, as I think it's a bit more comprehensive than the quick remote app we have. Anyone have any input on this?
Smart IR Remote. It's the best out imo and now has G3 support.
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
Pretty sure the G3 has a remote function built in via the IR Blaster for every TV and Set Top Box in the world. It's called Quick Remote. Better than the Samsung one IMO.
Thanks for the responses, but I'm looking for a way to get that specific app, not telling me about another.
