Hey guys! I'm wondering if there's a kernel available that'll only do a few things: OC and Theme. I just need these two, and none of the other stuff >_> Is there one available that can toggle certain settings? Or can I make my own?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone? :crying:
What do you mean?
All the Kernels we have, except original Stock, has OC.
But what do you mean by Theming? Do you mean like Theming as in with Cyanogenmod with themes, icons, and wallpapers?

I *think* so... but I'm not sure. I am new the HTC, Android, and the entire platform, even though I've rooted mine, and my friend's HTCs. Maybe for the theming I'm thinking of ROMs [deoxized?]... IRDK anymore, but I just want the ability to overclock it. :fingers-crossed:
BTW: If I install a custom kernel, does it require anything in particular? like having CM10 installed, or can it be installed on the stock ROM? Also, if I do install a custom kernel, do I keep my personal data, like apps and settings? Like I said, entirely new to this.
Thanks for replying!
Re: [Q] [REQ]Simple Kernel?
Yes,you can install Titanium Kiss kernel on your stock ROM.you will be able to overclock it.And yes, your data will be still there.

Isn't titanium kiss only for gsm ? He's CDMA. Use jmz stock kernel its under CDMA dev it should have oc.
I'd recommend upgrading to pacman 19.3 4.1JB with Simons supersick kernel from original dev.
I find everything super stable and usable and so much better than ICS and sense.
If you need a Tut on how to flash a ROM I'll link a thread for you
EDIT: heard you like theming? Try the cm10 themer DL tons of themes from the app store. Its sweet I have like 10 different themes lol.

okayyy new problem- I can't find my cable to connect to the phone. Can I flash the kernel and the boot.img file to boot from the phone while it's running? Like there's an app like ROM Manager that can install kernels, but does it notice the boot.img file and flash that to boot as well?

No, you need s-off for that, currently we have not find a s-off method for the hov..
You should try to look everywhere for that cord, i tried to flash a boot.img from my old Samsung intercept cord and it didn't transfer properly but hey you might get lucky with another android USB cord

HAH! **** the guides. I flashed a lot of kernels on my HOV using samsung and LG usb cables because that's what i've got at work so I am yet to find a problem with using an "unofficial" usb cord . If you start to reflect about this, its quite impossible to break something. The usb cord is a simple cable that transferrs files from a machine to another - so it can be an universal one, it doesn't matter.

I'd still trust an official cord rather than a 3rd party one, unless it's like something minor like transfering photos to the phone. But I'd rather not risk the possibility of soft bricking the phone

this theme is sick nice work is there any chance you could port this one of the stock g2 roms?
Nice theme! I'm loving it so far!
One thing though, is there any way to make the battery status green? I'm not talking about the percentage number from the CM settings, i'm talking about the actual battery icon itself like how it looked in the stock theme?

Flash it just like how you flash a ROM
I flashed it via Clockwork Mod but the theme ends up being too dark on my phone.
Any way you can port this to deodexed stock rom? Much appreciated.
Wouldn't work

Do I need to flash this over a fresh rom?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
For everyone wondering how to apply a theme.
It flashes like a regular ROM using ROM Manager.
Install ROM from SD card.
You DON'T wipe data and cache. You only need to start fresh if you have already themed the ROM.
ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR CURRENT ROM!
Just in case things don't work out how you wanted.
Thanks very much for this theme. Flashed over the nightly; the only change I had to make was to apply the default Dark CM UI Tweak to make the statusbar/notification text white instead of black (black on black != readable).
Thanks for the feedback guys. Which stock ROM did you guys want a port to?
Sorry, I don't know much about the G2 or its ROMs.
Its an amazing theme, thx for the hard work, makes the G2 have a unique look, love the fly by animations on the lockscreen etc.

Which recovery do you guys use for the G2?
You need to turn off signature verification.

Flashed yesterday afternoon. Looks great. I experienced one lock up when trying to answer a call. Had tune in radio running so most likely completely unrelated to this theme. We are using clockworkmod recovery. Greatly appreciate your work. This is a great clean look with smooth transitions.

In attachment you can find LiveWallpapers.zip, flash it trough CWM Recovery. It will give you:
- the ability to use LiveWallpapers
- Nexus Revamped live wallpaper
- bubble live wallpaper
More live wallpapers can be found on the market, but I'm not sure if they all work.
Be aware that this zip makes use of the old Amend Updater script. This means that you will not be able to flash it if you use a version 3.x/4.x of CWM Recovery.
If your version of CWM is older dan the 2.5.0.7, then flash "CWMR2507temp.zip" first. This will temporarely give you the old CWM Recovery - from the moment you reboot your phone or the recovery, you will get your own CWM recovery back. In this temporarly CWM, flash LiveWallpapers.zip and reboot phone.
It has been a while since I've created that zip, and I think it has only been used on my own phone. So please report back to see of it worked or not!
Succes,
Erwin
EDIT: good live wallpapers can be found here.
Hi Erwin, one question - Does your attachment enable Live Wallpapers on the Stock Launcher? (If it does, it will be great then if you create a new thread and post your work. I am sure there are a lot of people who want *only* LWP support. )
Haaah, I knew that there was something "wrong" with it, but I was forgotten what exactly
I believe that this doesn't work with the Sense launcher, but only if you use an other homescreen app like LauncherPro, for example.
My most honest excuses for everyone I gave false hope!

Sense UI will work, but if you want Livewallpapers, you will have to give up the Sense Launcher (and therefore - Sense widgets). Both can work simultaneously though (meaning, you can switch from one to another), so, there shouldn't be much issues.
Thank you for the help works a treat using launcher pro + for lwp's as we type.

Was it really necessary to bump up such an old topic?
Having ported a GB ROM i figured i'll try my hand at a froyo port,
searched through the cdma threads again
and found a Froyo rom built by jaybob one of the cdma's finest developers
n began porting it
this is an aosp rom and is very much stable for daily use
for the moment i've only ported the black version and default version of the rom m hoping as time passes by i'll port all the themed versions found in the original thread
The original thread is over Here!
Now on to the ROM
I've added in the basic gapps package for ease of downloads
FroYo 2.2.1 CM6.2.0 stable[Default edition
FroYo 2.2.1 CM6.2.0 stable[Black Edition]
if you want full gapps just wipe cache and dalvik before you flash after 1st reboot
Full Gapps Package
i missed out provisions.apk
so plz flash this after flashing rom
Provisions-update PLZ Flash!
added email application in attachments
although i've added in the basic gapps package plz flash the full gapps package simply because i tend to make mistakes
Themes and fixes Made by Habarug for this ROM(Nice work and a big thank you to Habarug)
ICS THEME
Naked simplicity
Mod for the pulldown bar
Thanks to jaybob and elelinux based on whose roms this port was made

Compared to Decked ? Hmm, difficult to say at this stage. Feels fast and definately lighter. Apps2SD works BTW as does GPS Google Nav. Am still at work and now V. low on battery so have stopped fiddling till i get home to my charger.
So far would have to say this is at least as fast as any froyo i've used with my usual setup.
This one feels really good Will try it for a while, and if i still like it i will mash together a theme to make it complete for me
well, this ROM is very smooth, feels quick enough for daily use..
experienced no lags so far,we'll see how it runs in the next few days..
now if only Habarug ports his ICS theme from VE6 (as look is not really an upside of this room )

hey guys..
so i just used Strawmetal's method of Downgrading my 2.3.4 to 2.2 HTC G2 *T-mobile* and continued to root it. I am able to boot into clockwork and just did a backup. I know its kinda noob, but im coming from a defy, but now.. am i free to flash any rom as i please? specifically Im looking into the G-lite... im concerned about kernel incompatablity and what not..
im not sure what the rules are for the G2 phone.. its been a LONG time since using the G2 and Im coming back to it. So any any help would be really appreciated..
Thanks a lot
If your already made a backup with clockwork then you can go ahead and flash the roms/gapps. Make sure you wipe beforehand. The rom should come with its kernel

Umm governors are part of the kernel. You should be able to control them either with the roms inbuilt tools or an app like setcpu.
You should upgrade to the latest . 19 radio. There are instructions on how to do that on the forums. Ill try to find the link.

thanks alot.. i just flashed the new radio.. ahh man.. this rom is REALLY PLAIN.. haha but i guess thats the point.. any recommendations for one that looks decent and has good battery life? ... i suspect i will need to jump on that hzboot requirement..
Im not familiar with the glite rom. From what i could read on the thread it is designed to be lite. Im currently running the latest version of mimicry. Its pretty smooth and has amazing battery life for an ics rom. Im not sure what you meant by the changing the hzboot. You can always install the eng hboot for the g2. However you will need to install the desire z hboot for trying out sense roms. Ill also recommend installing 4ext recovery instead of clockwork.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
I just downgraded/rooted/installed a new ROM yesterday. I went with Mimicry 1.3.2. There's plenty of cool features with that ROM. My favorites are the customizable lock screen (add up to 4 shortcuts), quick torch (hold power button while screen is off and your LED light will turn on), customizable battery icons (5 choices, 4 of which have percentages), shortcuts in the notifications screen (very useful). The ROM itself doesn't have many apps installed aside from the gapps you had to install.
The Aroma installer made everything a breeze. I also like how the WiFi calling package along with other tweaks were options in the installer. I would definitely recommend this ROM!
I am finding Mimicry good, too, and there's 1.4.0 now, just since yesterday
Like Deadeye, and indeed just a few hours earlier, I also rooted and installed Mimicry 1.3.2 yesterday. I am much impressed, and think it's a good choice for starters. Make sure you get 4ext recovery at some point, it makes changing ROMs so easy that you can always try another if you want...I've heard good things about several...aokp and elite mod are being used by people who helped me root, for example.
Just do a backup and flash any rom in the g2 developement section, you'll be good to go
If you plan on installing any sense Rom you need to install desire z hboot this will give you more system space and less space for apps 500mb and 1Gb respectively
Just google desire z hboot for g2 you will get it from there for an ics sense 4 Rom try gen y visionX B5 that's the best out there

Hello Everyone,
I recently downloaded the "ROM Toolbox Pro" app onto my HTC One V. At first I wasnt sure of all the things you can modify your phone with, but after looking and playing around for a few hours I got the idea. I noticed that you can change your [3G] icon to different colors and so forth for other icons on your phone. When I reboot the phone after applying a new boot logo, and Icon it didnt work at all. My first thought was that maybe you cannot modify anything with the Stock ROM? If anyone can tell me any information about this, that would be wonderful!
Also if I need to switch my ROM to something else, can someone please send me a link to a good ROM for the HTC One V that doesnt have any issues, and the full setup on how to do it? That would be wonderful!

If u are primou I'll provide u links if u like as always read tutorials and the instructions in the developers ROMs introduction post of what ever ROM u choose. Some ROMs have a little different way of that rom being flashed in order for it to work. As always i am in no way at fault for any thing or way that u may totally f up ur phone during the process of flashing my ROM or any other ROM/kernel.
