[Q] Upgrading to 4.1.2 with rooted Note II - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Please Help
I bought a used Note 2 that was already rooted (I also believe I am running a stock rom). I am not too sharp or knowledgeable about rooting. I know what are the advantages of it and that is about it.
The software on my phone is 4.1.1. I tried and was successfully able to download the new update for the ATT phone 4.1.2 (to enable the multi window). When the phone restarted, it went to the Team Win Recovery Project page ( http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...teamwin-recovery-project-2-3-3-0-updated.html ) The link I attached shows an image of what I saw.
I was a confused as to what to from there. I was able to somehow restart the phone. When the phone restarted, it said update failed.
Here are my questions.
Am I able to update the phone to 4.1.2 with a rooted device? If I am able to udpate the phone with a rooted device, what do I do next when I see that Team Win Recovery Project screen when the phone restarts. If I am not able to do so, am I able to remove the root then update the device, then apply the root again (sorry for the terminology or wording).
Please help and I do appreciate your assistance.

[Q] Problem with Rooting when I updated to latest Firmware Oct.12

I am new here and would really like some help from you guys.
So here is the story I work in IT I am very savy but never got the chance to root my phone because I didn't want to brick it. But now I am tired of waiting for jelly bean update for my T-mobile Samsung GS3. I watch all the videos on how to go into download mode and use Odin v1.85 to install a rom(I think that's what it does sorry if it's not correct I am a noob when it comes to this) Any way when I tried to install it everything passed and everything seemed ok. But when it rebooted it wasn't rooted and I didn't understand why so when I went back into download mode to see if I did something wrong. When I went back into it I found out something that I am pissed about. With the latest firmware update(please excuse if this is wrong but i think I am right) It says Qualcomm secureboot: Enable Does this mean they have locked the boot loader so I cannot root or put a custom rom on my GS3?
If you could please tell me what that means it would be great. I have a screen shot if anybody wants to see it. Is there a way around this?

[Q] Help unrooting phone

I bought a phone on eBay to use on the Ting (Sprint) network. It is a used Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.0.4 which I thought was strange as I know the S3 has been updated past this. So I started looking around and I found a program called SuperUser which has root options, then I found a file called TeamEpic-Root-from-Recovery-v5(1).zip in the root of the phone. There is a firmware update available but when I try to apply it a screen comes up which says installation aborted (I can get more info if needed on this).
I have been using Android phones for years and never been interested in rooting. I'm worried that I will not be able to activate this phone on July 8 when I can get out of my Verizon contract. And I'm concerned that I won't be able to update it past 4.0.4.
Could anyone advise how I can get this back to stock? Thanks in advance.

Can't apply OTA update if it has custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM. Has to have stock Samsung recovery. You can try this post-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099. Follow instructions very carefully. This should do the trick to get you back unrooted, with stock recovery, and updated firmware to MD4.

Look in the Android Development section and there is a ROM Restore so you can restore to unrooted stock

[Q] How to update Galaxy s3 I747 rooted / clockworkmod ?

I have a samsung galaxy s3 I747 and I have on my cell phone:
android 4.1.1
Clockworkmod v6.0.1.4
stock rom
When I bought my cell I rooted it with a tutorial I found here at the xda_developers forum.
here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042775
it rooted and installed clockworkmod also.
I am a noob with all of this and my question is, how do i upgrade android?
I go to settings, about device, software update, then it tell me I can download an update, after I downloaded it my phone says it will restart in 5 seconds, after it does, clockworkmod kicks in and I don't know what to do from there.
After that I reboot my cell phone and it tells me that the upgrade was interrupted and to press ok, when i press ok it starts normal but with no upgrade.
then I have to wait 23 hours for the next try.
I went in the menus of clockworkmod and most of them say load or stuff like that from the sd card.
Thank you for your time
Explaining every step here would be very long and it will take a lot of time, but there's a dedicated guide in the General section that will help you tons!
Notice: You won't be able to update through the method you're trying because you're rooted, and that update it's a stock official update which will detect your rooted Galaxy S3 and its clockworkmod and it will make the update fail everytime. Look at it like some type of Samsung security thing.
If your Galaxy S3's ROM is on Android version 4.1.1 you can always update to 4.3 from a software called "Odin", there are tons of youtube videos about that. But if you want to keep the clockworkmod recovery and install custom ROMS (CM11, AOPK, 4.4, 4.4.2, 4.4.4) which are pretty much all the ROMS and updates around here, you'll have to follow the guide I mentioned. I too had the same questions as you a long time ago, and it took me a while to get the hang of it, but I'm pretty sure you'll have a nice looking and great update/ROM on your S3. Just follow the instructions and you'll be good.
Good luck mate!

SGH-I467 - Bricked after attempt to restore in Kies

I have a Galaxy Note 8.0 LTE Tablet from AT&T. This device had been updated via OTA to version 4.4.2.
A relative of mine had been borrowing this tablet on a vacation to FL, and when I got it back, they had loaded it with a ton of stuff.
As I've done in the past, instead of going through the tablet, and getting rid of everything, I plugged it into my PC, and fired up Kies.
Like I said, I've done this before... I selected "Upgrade and Initialization". I typed in the Model: SGH-I467, and the Serial Number.
Like before it said it was going to revert the tablet back to 4.1.2. I hit upgrade, and the process started.
It got to 100% completed, and then errored out. The tablet said "Invalid Magic Number", and Kies was telling me I needed to do an "Emergency Recovery". However it did not have a Recovery Code, nor did it list my tablet in the box.
I rebooted the tablet, and tried again with the same error results.
Of course I cannot find a stock firmware file for 4.4.2, nor can I flash 4.1.2 with Odin because the tablet has Knox installed.
I'm at a complete lose at what happened, or what to do. I've read that some people were able to have a tech at Best Buy re-flash the tablet, but the nearest Best Buy store to me is 4 hours away.
Can anyone give me any advice or point me in the right direction?
I downloaded the Open Source KitKat file from the Samsung Site, but I've never compiled from source before, and have no idea where to start.
Has anyone else compiled the OpenSource KitKat files from the Samsung Site for the SGH-I467? If so I would be very very happy if someone could share that with me.
- Thanks in advance for your help!

?
In my knowledge, you can still flash firmware via odin even your tablet have Knox.
Once you update to kit kat 4.4.x , you cant go back. The kk bootloader is locked.

..and the only stock firmware file available is 4.1.2. Looking like I'm pretty much SOL huh? SOL or drive 4 hours to get to Best Buy. Maybe someday!
I was able to get Samsung to repair my i467 which was bricked in the same fashion. It took 3 times shipping it to their repair center and back before I finally got an upper level manager to override the "Warranty Void" status and do a flash to fix it. Pain in the butt but worth it. They do a lot of insisting it was your fault, and they won't fix, etc. etc. - In my case it was actually a failed OTA that caused the brick.

@K1979C20 figured out that kingroot 4.1 works to root 4.4.2 on the sgh-i467. After rooting, I used an app called "supersu me" to remove kingroot and install supersu. Now I'm rooted and have supers installed!
Now we need to figure out a few things... like how to pull the factory 4.4.2 image and create a flashable or odin image for getting out of a jam in the future... then maybe how to port/flash a rom...
I have signed up to beta test for the flash fire app from @Chainfire, so even though we don't have a Normal recovery like twrp/cwm... we still have the possibility to flash a rom using flashfire.

S3 ATT Like to know how to unlock bootloader, root the phone, and install custom ROM

Hey first time posting on xda devs and would like to know how to unlock bootloader, root the phone, and install custom ROM.
Now I have spent entire day backing up and searching the different people root but if someone can help me and point me in the right direction that would be great.
So I have a S3 from ATT Model: SGH-I747, Version: 4.1.2 JellyBean, BaseBand Version: I747UCDMG2, Kernel: 3.0.31 - 1300972. It is a stock ROM, I have never done anything to the phone at all before.
Now I will admit I followed a youtube video call "How to Root AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747!" by High on Android and I did everything in the video. I used odin v1.85, I did the PDA to the CWM.tar file, phone rebooted and I added the CWM superuser file and that is when I tried to get to CWM recovery mode and all I got was the phone's default recovery mode and not the CWM one.
From what I understand I believe I need to unlock bootloader first, but again this is a my first doing this and I hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Forum post state that you should follow guides that is exactly the same to the phone you would like to install custom ROMs.
Honestly I would like to ultimately be able to install a recovery mode that works with my phone that I am able to create snapshot image of my stock phone in case anything happens or I would like to go back to my stock image (which I highly doubt if everything goes fine) and install a custom ROM (I know there are different ROMs if someone can point me to where I can check out all the custom ROMs and not necessarily install those custom ROMs that would be awesome) and finally get rid of ATT loading screen when booting up the phone and install a custom boot loading screen, but of course I care more about getting the custom ROM install first.
If anyone can help that would be great.
The bootloader is not locked and using any app or program to unlock the bootloader will probably brick the phone.
The phones bootloader is already unlocked. Only verision s3 has a locked bootloader. Also you need to be in download mode for odin to work
