I created a thread there but i know there are more people active here that will read it.
this is to see how many people this has affected but also a work around if you encounter issues
OK, I have been testing the Unrevoked rc3.21 that comes bundled with clockworkmod
There seems to be an issue with how it does the nandroid backup. I have tested on my own device and another collegues
We are both running stock 2.2 2.10.508.2 hboot .93
flash went fine, rebooted to recovery, did nandroid backup of rom, reboot from recovery = boot loop
on my friends we did the same but this time reapplied clockwork from rom manager, did nandroid backup from rom manager - boot loop
To resolve the issue you simply restore the very same backup you just created
This leads me to believe that there is something going on where the backup process is actually corrupting system files after it has take a backup of it.
as said this has been duplicated and on top of that other people have reported it on unrevoked's bugreport list
I know you are not part of unrevoked but it seems to be clockwork mod with these new versions of desire that is causing a problem

I can confirm this.
Just did a nandroid backup with the same version of Clockwork Mod - on my Desire running stock 2.2 2.10.508.2 hboot .93
Phone went into boot loop, and I had to pull battery to get back into recovery.
I restored my backup, and phone booted normally again...

same thing
its to do with the .93 hboots and the ruu version of froyo used i think. clockworks backup borks it lol

Also on 2.5.0.7 and with recently flashed RUU from HTC.
And btw -
I've seen a lot of incidents ("tickets") on Unrevokeds site about Desires getting stuck in boot loop after backup.
I do not know however we can reach all of them to get more people to verify. Maybe speak with the developers of Unrevoked?
well you would expect they are reading the tickets. its probably a clockwork problem but unrevoked bundle it so should be aware of the pitfalls
Yet to see a reply from the clockwork team

Still on stock.
The reason I'm asking is because I've been emailing Joshua at UNrevoked about this, and when he asked me to give some feedback about the boot loop I went in and made a new backup - and that one didn't put the phone into loop.
I'm going to try to run Unrevoked another time this weekend and see if I can reproduce, but it would be nice if someone else could test to see if the second backup loops the phone or not.

im running leedroid now. ill run a backup of it as we speak and see what it does.
i hope its recoverable lol. wish me luck
EDIT:
SUCCESS in backing up leedroid.
so it looks like this maybe a 1st time backup issue?
odd, only way to really prove it would be to completly RUU the device back to full stock with recovery, wiped, and then do the process again.

it doesnt have to be on the root of your device, as long as its in your storage. if its in the storage, find that location amd flash it. now what do you mean you cant exactly set it there without it turning on? you lost me there.
The rom isn't on my phone whatsoever.
I meant I need to be able to have the phone fully turned on in order to move the zip over to it.

what recovery are you using? twrp has an adb sideload option, cwm might have something similar.
Just push another nightly zip over with adb, while in recovery. Simple! Don't understand what the fuss is all about.

if u made a backup for ur stock rom, then restore it.
if not, the easiest way is to reflash factory image using fastboot mode. or see my thread in signature
Pardon my noobishness, but I really would rather not unroot my phone and set it back to stock 4.1.1 unless it's my only option.
Either way, I created a backup last night but it doesn't work. When I tell it to install it says "no file found".
At this point, I'm willing to let somebody take over via viewfinder if it'll help >_>

that version is working fine here under custom aosp, so it must be cm problem like previous poster said.
hello everyone this is my first time asking a question on here so forgive if i got this in the wrong section.
i was wondering if you all could tell me how to "uninstall" cyanogenmod 10 off my samsung epic, but without unrooting.
i like cyanogenmod but i have to get it off because i cant change phone lines within my account because in order to put service back on my phone sprint wants me to dial ##somenumbers# and a menu is suppose to pop up but it doesnt and i think i read somewhere around here that you dial those "codes" in the dialer because they wont work.
soo I followed qbkings method to root my phone. youtube title = how to root the samsung epic on FC09
then i installed cyanogenmod10 using his method again
I did this to two samsung epics since i have two samsung epics at my disposal and i would follow qbkings method of unrooting
but i tried that on of the epics but odin failed and it got completly bricked and I mean hard bricked. so i am extremly fearful of even attempting qbkings unrooting method since i completly bricked one of the epics trying to unroot it.
and i was thinking that since i followed qbkings method i just need to go to recovery mode after turning off the phone and then clear everything data and cache.
and then do the install zip from sd card and just install the deodexedFC09 zip file that i previously put on the card when i was rooting my phone.
and then that would be it but i am extremly fearful of messing with the phone like that because i really dont want to brick my phone so i come to you all today for your help on this because i am new to rooting and flashing roms on my phone so i didnt really know whereelse to ask.
Ive tried looking for help on the forums and the web but i did not find nothing so i just rather ask then ...
You can buy a jig for like $1-2 to jump the bricked one back in dl mode then flash full stock, as for the other, there is a boot from sdcard rom that will enable you to activate your phone without uninstalling cm10

1st i download the peoples rom on my pc and transfer it to the sd card.

3rd after that is done i wipe data and factory reset?
4th I wipe cache partition
5th go to advanced menu and wipe dalvik cache?
6th install zip from sd card and look for the peoples rom and install that right?
this would be how to install the peoples rom if i have cyanogenmod 10?

Hello,
Today, I odin'ed the 4.1.2 OTA and then rooted with the CF Auto Root Method. Afterwards, I downloaded Rom Manager and install CWM Touch v6.0.3.6 and booted into recovery. Whenever I would boot in recovery, it would give me the same message" Warning: No file_contexts". After searching I saw others had this happen and that apperently it was related to the SELinux. Will this cause me any errors when I flash roms or restore previous backups?

To be 100% sure when people say recovery they mean the programs like CWM or TeamWin and so on right ?
Is it bad for the device to change often the recovery software ? cause i have done that couple of times, started with TeamWin and later on ended up with CWM.
But the thing is that the problem is the installation process, it does not matter what ROM i use i get still the same error.
And for the Philz Touch could you copy the name of the link that i should download, they all look the same and way more links that i am used to.

The reason you can't install any rom is because you do not have the latest version of CWM installed. You should always install the newest version when you install any recovery.
The newer roms are using an updater-script that will not work on CWM 6.0.4.7. Install an updated recovery and then install the rom that you want.

To answer your question no yes maybe. Travel around through XDA and read/learn and you will understand.
as for philz i would try this one https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/lt02wifi/philz_touch_6.44.9-lt02wifi.zip
in general find a recovery that works for you and stick with it until an update is actually called for.

If I were you, I would unroot and return to stock using ODIN first before I try anything else. If you need instructions, Google "unroot and return to stock using ODIN".

good to hear you got it sorted. CM just isn't happening yet. just watch the forum like a hawk like everyone else is...:cyclops:
If your worried about destroying your tab you prolly shouldn't have come to mod it.I know sounds like a douche bag thing to say but even putting on the flash or roms that go with the tab can destroy your tab if done improperly or even if they glitched while flash which does happen or even worse power outage when flashing.

Nono it is okey to say something like this, but the thing is i like to learn this stuff, took me about 3 days to learn how to flash a BIOS on a computer but when i got the hang of it i learned it.
I am scared of destroying the tablet but how else would i learn ? cause reading does not always help But i got it back up again. And i knew when to ask for help.
But the RocketTab looks to work well at least for know, but would love CM mod couse i have it on my S4 and when and with the RocketTab i only get android version 4.1.2
