Some guidance please? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My note was draining battery like crazy even on power saver mode, it would drain like 10% during night on power saver.
I did a factory reset it seemed to fix it for a day and then now it is draining again fast, I have all power consuming things shut off I don't know what else to do.
If there is one more tip for this would be really useful.

That's a good start, 10% on power saver could be a lot on a phone with no apps, but if you have lots of apps its not that much, even on power saver some aps may be accesing the network, if you are connected to a wifi that would eat some battery as well.
If you added no apps and this happens then it could be a bad battery, unlikely but stuff like that happens.

Remember to sign out of apps like Google+, YouTube and Facebook, if you are signed in. If I notice quick battery drain, I'm often still signed in.

I dont know if the battery is bad or im missing something that is draining it

Is there a way to know if I have a bad battery please? I'm really concerned.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Unfortunately, I believe the only way you'd be able to really measure the mAh of your battery would be to compare with another of the same.

Can you post a screenshot of your battery usage?
Might help us narrow it down a little. Sounds like a wake lock but could also be due to terrible cell reception
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium

Do you know your device and android fairly well? I am guessing its a combination of the above stated bad reception and your os & apps update schedule. There is alot of way to save power by going through and changing your notifications and app updates, as well as various settings on the os (ex. Switching to airplane mode @ night or at least turning off your data) so that your facebook isnt uselessly refreshing at 2:18am to see what club steve is at while your sawing logs.

What's your screen on time.
Looked kinda like liteflow might be causing problems?
Cell Standby i think is the one that is coded wrong and is lying, ignore that one.
If you press Android System in settings, battery it will show you the top components being used
Also in dev options look for and check Show CPU Usage. It will show whats using the cpu in the top right of your screen. Watch for what stays in the top few spots in the list.
There may have been something that didnt like the update. Try first uninstalling apps and if that helps reinstall them clean, no data restore. If you continue to have problems backup all data and factory reset. Start clean.
If all else fails use odin to flash the full LH2 fw.
LH2 should be a fairly stable build. Most have no issues and many get outstanding battery life. Im willing to bet its either an app or the way you updated or both.

That's really not THAT bad for a screen on time. I saw your screenshots in the OP, and you were down to 80% in only two hours of being on the battery, but you had the screen on for almost an hour of those two hours; 20%/hr for the first few hours is pretty normal. It's not stellar, but I wouldn't say it's an epic drain that being said, I'm sure you could squeeze some more juice out of it, and prob is just an app causing more drain than usual.
Also when doing a screenshot, it helps to hit the power button first, then the volume, so you don't get the volume pop up every time.

I assume you mean battery...
How do you know? What do you do with the device that will use all its power so quickly? Mine is averaging 2 days on a single charge with moderate use; there's no reason why anyone else can't manage that.
Besides, all those so called "battery saver" apps are just placebo's anyway; much like memory saver apps are.
Idk man. I tweet alot. and my 3g sucks battery... 2g isnt an option either....
I know battery savers are fake. I got no such thing like that running.
I think it is because everytime i check what apps are running, some apps are open which i didnt open myself at all...

try a basic ROM with nothing installed for a day, if that works add stuff in till something breaks.

Yeah, you've got something wrong that a task killer won't fix. That's more than abnormal. Either you're running something/everything with bad sync settings... Or some ****e app is runaway.

Wow.. maybe a bad battery? Or Rom?
Running Macksrom.. light usage I'll get 2 days plus out of my phone. Heavy screen and media still get's me 24 hours or more with no charge. This phone I've had no fear of using all that I please when unplugged. The only "task killer" i use is ES Task Manager to control my white list.
Also, that is running overclocked
Like someone said, find the app that's killing your battery and work on that first. I recommend gsam battery. If that doesn't help you then get juice defender. The pro option gives you even more options. There is no need for a task killer on android. The os is made to be as efficient as possible.
Sent from my Amazing Galaxy Note 2!
Battery calibration does nothing. Battery stats are wiped automatically everytime you charge to 100%. Task killers are worse for battery than not using one. Android manages apps just fine on its own, killing them with a task killer just forces the OS to unnecessarily wake up everytime it needs to restart a service. Your best bet is to use better battery stats to find what rogue app is killing your battery and/or using autostarts app to stop things you don't use from starting to begin with.
I like to break stuff!

more than likely, as stated earlier, it is probably your battery. i had this problem with my stock battery as well. and yes it tested and charged fine but it clearly was not. after purchasing 2 anker batteries and charging them everything is back to normal and getting 2 days out of one battery with light use.

Best way to charge your phone is a 500mah or 700mah charger. Takes forever to charge but the battery loves it better and gets a much stronger charge. The slower you charge the longer it lasts. Whenever I go to sleep I plug it into my pc

Tap the little orange icon to the right. It will take you to the browser and explain what power manager is. It's likely due to push notifications. You can check what's doing this under partial wakelocks.

BBS doesn't consume much battery at all compared to others, unless of course if you have the app actively monitoring but the option should be Unchecked by default.
Also, as the page to the link states, in order to resolve any of the wakelocks causing the PowerManagerService issue you must "Use "Partial Wakelocks" to drill down the applications / services causing wakelocks".

Reccomendations for a good battery saving app

I have noticed there are so many battery saving apps on the Playstore but do you have any reccomendations for a good one
Sent from my GT-N7105T using xda premium
Just install greenify. I have tried plenty before I had Note II, they've had little effect and I often had issues with many of them. If needed use power saving mode + greenify. Why, are you getting crappy battery life?
If your rooted install Redpill Kernel no need of any apps ,
Again for Greenify you need root but this is also suggested app ,
If your not rooted , You could try Juice Defender Ultimate from Playstore.
I'm not actually the battery life on the Note II is very good probably one of the best out there on a mobile phone, was just enquiring

All these apps are a bit useless to be honest. The most important thing is just to set your brightness manually, enable/disable all the functionalities like GPS/W-FI/BlueTooth etc only when needed. Also setting your mail-account to sync once in the 2/3 hours, instead of 15 minutes helps alot also. If you are rooted, you could also remove some Samsung/Android Apps that basically do nothing apart from using battery.
A app to close the processes of application will help also. But if you want to try a battery-save app. JuiceDefender Ultimite for Rooted Users, GreenPower Premium for non-rooters.
Greenify.
You won't need anything else.

What does juice defender except turning off the data when screen is off ? If it's only that you can also do it manually.
Greenify is useful for lot of user and app which use data or process even if you disable synchro like facebook.

Well another point of these Battery-Saving apps. They could make your phone unstable. You can set manually the sync times for Facebook, E-mail , Weather Apps etc. Greenify works pretty good. It is basically a program to put the processes on the background on hold. When you use that application , it restores fast the proces (where it was). Handy for FB etc yes. Although sometimes you can see a small delay (hick-up) when you open a app that was Greenified.

If i have 2g on, i barely lose battery when the phone is in deep sleep. when i leave the phone at nite and wake up in the morning i lose like 1% or 2% max. but with greenify every time i was leaving the phone in deep sleep, i was losing like 2% per hour.
