[Q] Power button stuck pushed in - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I was using my Galaxy today and I pressed the power button to unlock it and it got stuck pushed in. The phone is now stuck in a boot loop because the power button is "pressed". I'm under warranty with T-Mobile, but I have sensitive information on the phone, which I'd really like to remove off this phone, as well as put it onto my new phone.
Is there a way to unstick the power button? Or maybe a way to get the data off the phone somehow?
Any help is appreciated - thanks.

I just tore the whole thing down, nothing can be done for the button. Damn it.

did u try the toothpick trick? also remove the battery and SD card use a cotton swab soaked with isopropl alcohol on drip it right into the power button while its torn apart and press like crazy

Haven't tried the toothpick trick - what is it?
I'll go buy some at CVS tonight and try it.

I tore it apart and fiddled with the power button a little bit, I'm 100% sure that the spring on it is dead, as it just wobbled around and moved in and out freely without resistance, but there was no click to it when I pressed it. No gunk on it or anything. Here's a picture.

Creaking on my Gnex

hi guys I wanna shared this problem with all because maybe someone has an idea to solve.
I have problem when I press on the green areas of the image, I have a little Creaking, but it feels when I press a little hard, but still bothers me because it's a $700 phone, I bought my phone on ebay to a Chinese seller, so I think I'll have to find a solution for myself and I would like to know if anyone can give me an idea to solve this.
Thanks.

Nothing in either sopt for me. I have a minuscule amount creaking up at the very top of the battery door. Just have to push the battery over up a little bit and it goes away.
No creaking for me in those spots or anywhere else.
Ah, I have that creaking...but I have to push very hard. Bought mine via Expansys. Doesn't bother me too much. OP, how much pressure do you have to apply to make it creak?
Yea I definitely have the creaking when I press down around and below the camera. It's annoying b/c that's usually where I rest my finger when I'm on the phone. Is it worth trying to get the device replaced?
It always is and always will be user preference. Some people have lower thresholds for the little annoying things. Getting it replaced is solely up to you. For me, it's not a big enough issue.
No issue here. Sorry.

Got no creaking, no matter how hard I press it.
my head squeaks when i push really hard? is that normal?

Anyone noticing this?

On the back of the phone, towards the bottom of the back there are these marks/scratches that are popping up.
As you move your finger over them, you can feel the texture changes.
Why would these appear if I baby my phone, and have had a case on it from day 1.
It isn't making sense.
I tried to see if I could remove it with a cleaner, but no avail.
What are your thoughts?

I have seen these. Even with a case, you get dust(dirt particles) under the case. As you use the phone normally it does move a small amount in the case and that will scratch the back a little. At least this is what I think is happening as its happened with every phone Ive owned thats been cased.
Yes mine has it..... No case... But my last phone (xperia arc) went through more abuse and has no scratches. I don't have a clue what it is about that general area.

Got these as well. Exact same location. I guess the plastic backing finish is real easy to scratch up. Sucks but at least it is minimal.
I got them too, but at least I can just buy a new back or something.
I have tons of scratches on the back of mine. I set it in the cup holder when I listen to Pandora in the car. Recently these red marks have shown up... they won't rub off and I'm thinking its the color underneath the paint.

Power button fell out. Help!

I was disassembling my phone to change my audio jack and while taking out the frame, the plastic power button completely popped out (my fault, I know what I did wrong). So I tried pressing the actual flex cable to turn on the phone and that didn't even work, so I'm assuming I need to buy a new flex cable. Also how do I put the physical power button back in the phone? I can't find a way to make it stick.
Someone help, I really am lost
Anyone?

i think you might need to remove the chrome frame and put the power button back the way it was or you can take a look at volume button on the other side seeing how it attached to the frame and also try to use super glue. btw does the power button work?
I never thought about comparing it to the volume side, good idea. And the power button doesn't work so I definitely need a new flex cable
if the power button doesnt work for now, you can use touchwake function in trickster if you have it in your rom

*Clear protector on camera and flash*

You don't have to take the clear protectors off the camera and flash but I like to. Plus I thought maybe it was causing a glare even though it has a hole.
It's not easy getting off especially the flash one. I did it carefully because I didn't want to scratch them. Samsung should have put tabs on them so it would be easy to take off.

I used my index finger nail not much of one and just moved up from the button of the flash. Just a little at a time. Once you see it move or come up some then you can use your index finger and thumb to peel it off. Maybe a girls longer nails would work better. Hehe. Just be careful and go slow. Oh boy that sounds bad. LoL
You could have a rep at your carrier try to get it off. Then if they mess it up you can blame them. I would think as long as you don't take a screw driver you should be ok. LoL

Use scotch tape. Cut a small piece and carefully stick it onto the film edge avoiding the cut outs for the lens and flash, then pull up slowly to lift off the film. You can get the whole film off or at the very least a small portion enough to take out the entire film.
i got it off finally lol i had to keep picking at it, eventually got my fingernail under there

Broken Internal Power Button

I had problems with my SM-T800 whereas it would keep restarting all the time. *I took off the back cover to check the battery connections. * They were fine so I but the cover back on. * In doing so I must have damaged the Power button/connector (internally). * *I now cannot turn it on.
Does anybody know where I can purchase a Power button internal Flex cable? * I have googled it but cannot find anything. **
Thanks for any help you can provide.

That power button can't have any more than 3 terminals, so if the ribbon is damaged it should be easy to find the break. If not by eye with a multimeter.
I should think an easy repair with a thin piece of wire to bridge the break.

You cant. it is integrated with the speaker, if you want to change it you need to buy another left speaker. for exemple: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Samsung...192703?hash=item35f6b2ffbf:g:mG4AAOSwnH1WX2~m

I see, at least you've answered the question.
Thanks for the help!. I was looking for the wrong thing as I thought the power and volume board was separate from the speaker. I have ordered the replacement on ebay.
