i made this for the skyrocket to allow t989 roms to run without rotation issues! but then i relized it, i has helped the t989 community as well!
this shouldn't brick your phone (idk how it would) but if u do. its on u!
To install:
no need to wipe! just flash in recovery!

PS: if devs would like to put this link in their threads, thats fine. just add me in your credits! thanks!
There is already a rotationfix on our forum. What is the difference. The other messed up your camera so I hope this one doesn't ?

I'm glad u asked. This is (more or less) a fix for that fix. I've been told if u flash the original fix then mine everything will work fine. But haven't tried it myself! This has worked for some and not others. But I can tell u. It won't hurt to try! if it makes it worse flash the original. Then mine.
Lol thanks a lot
You probably remember me from flashing he hotcakez kernel

His icons get cut at the bottom.
But I doubt it'll fix that. Worth a shot though!
BTW after flashing hotcakes kernel I flashed this fix darn rotation really was horrible lol
It works perfectly! No camera issues as others have asked.

Jedi Mind Trick
This is really odd. I flashed a stock ROM through ODIN back to T-Mobile ICS and this is what happens.
I open an application (browser or gmail)
I rotate the device to landscape (270 degrees) the screen rotates.
I rotate the device back to portrait (0 degrees) and the screen stays in landscape mode
I close the application and reopen. It opens in portrait mode.
I rotate the device to landscape (270 degrees) the screen rotates.
I rotate the device back to portrait (0 degrees) and the screen stays in landscape mode
I close the application and reopen. It opens in portrait mode.
I rotate the device to landscape (90 degrees) the screen does not rotate.
I rotate the device to portrait (180 degrees) the screen does not rotate.
I rotate the device to landscape (270 degrees) the screen does not rotate.
I rotate the device back to portrait (0 degrees) and the screen switches to landscape mode
I open an application (browser or gmail)
I rotate the device to landscape (270 degrees) the screen rotates.
I rotate the device back to portrait (0 degrees) and the screen stays in landscape mode
I hit the power button, screen switches off
I hit the power button again and swipe the screen.
The screen has now reset to portrait (0 degrees)
It seems after successive ROM's and even putting the stock image on I have a hardware issue?
Hope someone can help

that happens to me when an app display is set to landscape and i have rotation off or if i a have rotation off in system setup and on in cm/aokp options and vice versa. if you have a hybrid aosp rom there is like 3-4 places you have to look to make sure theyre all on same setting. But since youre using stock rom its probably whatever launcher you are running they sometimes have a rotation option as well. most of the time they do not change together.

Email and browser do not seem to have a rotation setting. Probably getting it from system settings...

I think Cyan's Rom allows that. Not sure otherwise. Do you use Spare Parts? It might have that option too.

hmmm wierd i dont see anything that only turns off homescreen auto rotate either, either you can turn if off completely or you can't kinda sucks, gets kinda annoying to wait for it to go back to portrait everytime you take it out of the pocket.

MY phone has done this twice now. The screen with flip itself and look like I'm looking at the phone in a mirror. The buttons, words, icons are all mirrored but I still have to tap in the normal spot to get them to work.
I have to pull the battery to get it fixed. Anyone else have this happen?

I've had it happen once as well, don't know what caused it.
Some rom devs have identified the issue is with the screen orientation transition effects.

This worked for me. No one has provided any feedback as to whether it working for them or not.

It is the ICS rotation animation causing it. Sometimes you can reproduce it if you lock the screen in landscape mode I believe

I've had this happen to me a couple of times.
I never had to pull the battery to fix it though... All I had to do was turn the phone to a different orientation, and then turn it back.
Whenever I had that issue I just tilted my phone sideways and it fixed it. Did you try putting it in landscape mode after the issue?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I tried everything, it would even rotate mirrored. If it happens again, I'll try stuff

When it happens to mine I just unlock it and turn it to the side then back up, goes back to normal after.
Originally I was only able to get out of it by pulling the battery. If you use a lock pattern it doesn't respond correctly to touch inputs.
I went to take a screen shot of the screen while it was upside down/mirrored, and when it shot it the screen went back to normal. I was able to unlock the phone. Seems like an easy enough workaround till the problem is resolved.
I have this issue where every once in a while where my phone get's stuck in landscape mode (which i rarely use). The only way i found to fix it is to turn off the screen and turn it back on, but it will eventually come back. So far i tried gyroscope calibration, cache wipe, and dalvik cache wipe but none were able to get rid of the issue. This is a fairly recent problem. It's been a week or two. any ideas for a permanent fix?

I have this problem too. I usually have to reboot. I'm on AT&T, no root, Apex Launcher Pro. I downloaded a sensor test app and when the screen is stuck, neither the gyro or accelerometer appear to be functions. Reboot and all is well. Sounds like a software issue maybe?
I think my Note just get the mis calibrated problem. the stock camera keep rotating all the time. the others camera apps didnt rotate, but the final pic is rotated in random direction, even I turned off the auto rotation and keep the phone portrait. Can anyone give me some idea?

Did you calibrate the gyroscope on a very flat, level surface?

Not sure with the Rom you're currently using (or flashed last - clean/dirty flash, etc) but if you do a search in the Q&A or Dev section you may find what your after (for help/example see attached pic). There are screen orientation fixes available I've seen posted throughout. Other than that, have you tried the pull down menu and checked to see if "auto rotation" is highlighted or checked?
Yes I tried the fixes they dont work I'm on the newest slim ROM before this I was on paranoid android it happen when I was on paranoid It rotates but it gets stuck until I press the home button
