How to put my two phones in network ? - HTC One X

Hello I have a pc, a server (from my Adsl provider) and my two phones (HTC one x and Acer liquid). I am connected by WiFi (with my server) at home.
With my phone I can explore the hard disk of my server and do what I want...
I would like to do the same things between my phones, for example, paste, explore, their sd cards, is it possible and how ?
For info I use es file explorer ...

ES File Explorer 1.4.2.2 LAN Browsing broken

Has anyone else noticed this and found a workaround ?
With one of the recent updates LAN browsing has broken.
Further info : I disable smb 2 on my server.

I can still connect to my XP machine but it won't connect to my Win7 machine.
I'll have to investigate later.
it connects to my linux samba server flawlessly
No problems here with W7 64bit
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Working in Win 7 now. It was my firewall
Just copied two pictures over but they don't show up in the gallery only in ES File Explorer Any ideas?

[Q] NAT in Hotspot mode and others...

Hi everybody!
I've lurked around looking for answers but I've found nothing so far. I'm quite new to smartphones as well as to Android, I've just bought a Desire immediately upgraded to Android 2.2 and here are my questions:
1) When I enable the WiFi hotspot mode how can I set a NAT rule on it ? I mean, I want to access my local computer connected to Internet through my desire hotspot from another computer on the WAN side. To do this I should instruct the NAT of my desire to forward all request on a designated port to my local computer.
2) Is it possible to mount a network folder in order to access files on it through any installed applications ? (For instance I'm not able to open a .doc or .xls on a network folder using EStrong Explorer as well as Astro as well as ...)
3) How can I associate a default application for each file extension ? (i.e. .doc: use quickoffice, .avi: use Rockplayer, ...)
Thanks
Sansone
I could be wrong but I would have thought that the Wifi sharing is more of an access point than a configurable router. I would be very surprised if what you ask is at all possible without having a router connect to the internet, using your phone as the gateway. Like I say I have no 1st hand knowledge of this but it is to me what would seem likely.
If you find out different please post back your findings.

[Q] Map network drive - access with DHD

Question: How to access a network drive with DHD in a specific case (i.e. no Nas)?
Setup of network(drive)
A 300n wlan router is setup and all devices (2 laptops, 2 DHD's) connect to it via Wifi.
The router has an USB port, to which I connected a general external HDD (no network disk, just your average cheap external WD disk).
The router lets me share this external disk within the Wifi network.
On my WIN7 machine it is mapped (map network drive, assign drive letter and put in: \\192.168.1.1\shareddrivename\)
Username and password has been setup as well.
Probably important to realize, it is no Nas, its just the router letting me share this disk.
In win7 I can view and use the drive without a problem.
How can I use it with my Desire HD?I have looked, but ESfile expoler and smb plugin for astro do not give what I need, or I am clueless as how to set it up properly.
Easiest way I've found is to either use the dlna stuff from HTC to share media OR setup an FTP server and use an android FTP client most nas devices should also work via FTP protocols
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Pretty much same setup with the phone.
With ES File Explorer go into LAN tab and go Menu -> New -> Server and there you can setup ip address and password and should work just like on your W7.
Let us know how you go.
Well....the problem is, it is just a external hdd shared via the routers' usb port.
It is not a nas and it sits on the routers ip address (192.168.1.1).
Dlna is not then intend.
I just want to be able to use the disk as I can do in WIN7.
With ES file explorer, I can not access it.
Any other thoughts?
Basically, I want to know if it is possible to map a network drive?

[Q] MTP alternative

Hi, I just wanted to know if there is a way around MTP or ADB for file transfer between my PC and my Nexus. I mean something that gives me a GUI and allows me to drag'n'drop from the explorer. Just an interface like USB mass storage devices have.
Is there something like this? I can't be the only one who needs to transfer big files over USB. MTP just sucks because every calculation about the files is made on the device and the device can't handle the amount of the files, so it collapses if there are too many files at once.
I have tried:
1. Share folder on the PC accessed with es file file explorer or solid explorer. This is smb which is slow on android due to ncifs? library.
2. WiFi hard drive (patriot gauntlet node) still slow.
3. New router with usb3 hd with smb and ftp servers. Smb still slow, ftp much better.
4. Yet to try ftp server on PC.
Can't post screenshot yet, getting 130 Mbps ftp, 13 Mbps smb. Asus rt-ac56u router as remote ap.

I already read about the "solution" over WiFi and I already have a little NAS of my router here which allows me to share files and streaming films and so on.
But this isn't what I want. I just want plug in my USB-cable and browse the storage (completely, not only SD card like over MTP) of my device.
Thanks anyway for your answer!
AirDroid or Droid over WiFi?
Wifi files transfer apps such as AirDroid, Pushbullet can help you. But the speed depends on the wifi network status.

OpenVPN & FireTV 1 Stick (not rootet) - can't connect to nas

Dear XDa Friends,
I can't connect to my local nas from my friends wifi. Connecting via iPhone works perfect. My nas has no internet access. Access only via lan. When openvpn is connected, I can view my network shares via iPhone / documents app. Via firetv it's connected but it cannot connect to my nas. I think it's an firetv /android problem. I've installed openvpn server at my raspi, my router and my nas (synology) but I can't connect via firetv to my smb share or via ds video synology app. Any tips?
