Troops,
Having read in full the following link to try and diagnose my problem:

I have a problem with connecting my XDA to my desktop PC via a BT home hub.
I have no problem connecting my XDA to the shared files on my laptop which is also on my home network. Both my laptop and my desktop PC use Windows XP.
I have total commander on my XDA and have checked all my settings. As far as I am aware they are all correct, but obviously something is wrong.
Can anyone help???
Thanks.
Hi guys. Can you explain me how I can share Desire internet connection with my macbook?
TNX
pdanet is pretty good:
http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.php
On windows you require HTC Sync, Linux (Ubuntu) just works connect the phone via usb and select internet sharing, but this does not work on OSX.
You could try a 3d party app PdaNet Desktop for Mac from http://www.junefabrics.com/android/mac.php
Hope it helps
Ok, so my office has setup an IIS web folder with an address similar to \\170.1.1.1.\etc\data. Its a folder that I can access via mapping a network drive from any windows machine.
Is it possible to use ES or a similar application to have access to my office folders data?
Thanks!!
Yes it should be possible with ES, add a node, lan or net, from the top left tab of the file explorer.

Has anyone else had any issues connecting to Windows shares?
I've installed XBMC on my Ouya and set it up with a shared DB which it can see without any problems but it cannot reach the files themselves which are on the same server as the DB.
I tired using ES too but that timed out when trying to connect.
Is there something I'm missing, I've tried over wifi and ethernet?
Same Problem here

I am having the same problem, I have XBMC installed and it seesm to work fine with youtube, hulu, etc. But I cannot connect to any of my network shares. I have them shared on a Win7 PC, and all PCs in the house can access the share fine, but I cannot even see the network shares on the Ouya. Either by adding network location, or under SMB? I used to have XBMC on an Xbox1 and I was able to set that up fine, using the same method and shares. Not sure what the issue is, I am adding a NAS HD to my Router directly (USB), and setting up shares on it, to see if the XBMC on Ouya CAN see that. If that doesn't work, I may try another version of XBMC, maybe the newest?
I ended up giving up and giving it to my parents to use with a USB hard drive, suits their needs ok but won't be recommending an Ouya to anyone else.
I've had no problem connecting to my network shares... both from XBMC and from CIFSManager...

1. turn off password protected file sharing
2. and set folder or drive permissions to Everyone
that should work, it worked for me
Hi, I just wanted to know if there is a way around MTP or ADB for file transfer between my PC and my Nexus. I mean something that gives me a GUI and allows me to drag'n'drop from the explorer. Just an interface like USB mass storage devices have.
Is there something like this? I can't be the only one who needs to transfer big files over USB. MTP just sucks because every calculation about the files is made on the device and the device can't handle the amount of the files, so it collapses if there are too many files at once.
I have tried:
1. Share folder on the PC accessed with es file file explorer or solid explorer. This is smb which is slow on android due to ncifs? library.
2. WiFi hard drive (patriot gauntlet node) still slow.
3. New router with usb3 hd with smb and ftp servers. Smb still slow, ftp much better.
4. Yet to try ftp server on PC.
Can't post screenshot yet, getting 130 Mbps ftp, 13 Mbps smb. Asus rt-ac56u router as remote ap.

I already read about the "solution" over WiFi and I already have a little NAS of my router here which allows me to share files and streaming films and so on.
But this isn't what I want. I just want plug in my USB-cable and browse the storage (completely, not only SD card like over MTP) of my device.
Thanks anyway for your answer!
AirDroid or Droid over WiFi?
Wifi files transfer apps such as AirDroid, Pushbullet can help you. But the speed depends on the wifi network status.
+1^^^^^ airdroid
