I downloaded "[ROM] AOKP [UNOFFICIAL] nightly - JellyBean - 4.2.1 - JOP40D - NIGHTLY" (sprint galaxy nexus) and installed the supposed latest gapps with goo manager but as soon as i unlock the phone i get an endless barrage of "unfortunately x has crashed". If someone who has this rom could post a link on the right gapps to install that would be great.

i wiped everything installed the rom then the gapps and fixed permissions but it still doesn't work

First you have to flash the Rom.
Then you have to flash the GApps package.
And then you should fix Permissions.

Since at least 2 weeks ago (might be before, didn't test) when I installed bigxie v6 and Franco Nightly Kernel #6, I can't download anything from Gmail. .png's, .jpeg. apk, Nothing. Just says 'Unable to download' above, ironically, the 'Save' link.
Am I missing a setting here somewhere? Likely Kernel/ROM related?
I did search, but got nothing relevant, so if I have missed something I apologize

As per bigxie's instructions, All from Recovery Manually.
Cool, try wiping Davlik and re flashing the GApps zip. I am sure it's just a little glitch with your current GApps. Let me know if it works. You won't loose anything. I think that should fix it.

I think not... Latest CM10.1 inbuilts Superuser function in Settings and flashing additional su package may cause conflict. IMO the right way is to check MD5 integrity and redownload that CM10.1 package...

So guys, i didnt saw a ROM from factory image of googles new android iteration 4.4.x aka KitKat. I made two flashable versions of that. One is odexed and one deodexed. Its still stock like and pre-rootet. I only implement the translucent status- and navbar.
Dont forget to made a Nandroid Backup. Safty goes first!!

A small tipp for better working transparent statusbar etc, use the latest version of Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher Beta. Works much better, but dont forget to set the hook in the settings for that.

I mean a fullwipe wipe=factory reset etc. At this moment only cwm works for me, slow but it works. But i flashed the version dirty(only cache and dalvik cache) ontop on SlimKat with twrp an it worked. But its not recommend to flash the new base without a fullwipe. I hope the recovery devs sorted out the problems with 4.4 that we can flash all roms again with better speed while flashing. CMW and TWRP are really slow on 4.4.

Check settings/developer/ then there is a selection for dalvik or art.

Edit: Ive reupload the deodexed version at this moment. Seems i had a bad upload. One user reportet he hangs in bootloop. It takes a while.

Read my edit. I tried it for a couple of minutes and it bootet with a fullwipe. Ive reupload this version. It takes some time.
So full wipe is recommended?
Yes ist always recommend. It should work without a fullwipe, but i always made a fullwipe when i switch to an other rom or android iteration.

Reupload of deodexed version is ready. Hope all works now. I tried excactly this version and it boots with cwm.
New version works fine now but still I don't have transculent bars :/
Goto Nova-Settings-->Appearance-->and set the hook @transparent notification bar.
Make shure you are running the latest version 2.3beta1. And remember, dont upadte the beta with the stable one from play store. You must download it from xda when there are nwe betas available cause you dont get betas anymore via play store.
PS: The translucent navbar etc. works only on Nova Launcher. If you are in other apps in didnt work.

hey, i have tried uninstalling it with titanium backup and re-installed and rebooted, logging out from Google completely. But it still is crashing i can't open it :< it's really frustrating... i just updated newly from 10.2 to cm-11-20140411-NIGHTLY-n7100
and my google photo app isn't working ether..

Yup I got the full stock package but all of them should work fine.
Also I recommend updating your cm version, just install the package from the recovery with no wiping data.

Backup and reset [from settings] this will erase all data.

If this didn't work then the following steps are my last solution:
1. Download this, it's CM11 (Latest Nightly Version)
2. Go here, download your preferred GApps Package.
3. Put the downloaded files on your external SD.
4. Back-up your data.
5. Get into the recovery mode:
-Wipe data / factory reset
-advanced > wipe dalvik cache, then go back
-install zip > choose the downloaded files directory and install CM then GApps
- Reboot.
