Hi,
So I installed the modded Youtube 4.2.16 Build v2 by theos0o to allow me to play HD videos while on 3G network, my biggest problem is that the app keeps getting uninstalled and gets back to the default youtube app whenever I restart or shutdown the phone !! I also have a problem trying to keep the videos playing while on another screen, the video just stops although I ticked on the "Screen off Playback"
Why does the app revert back to the default version on it's own?? :S Any ideas?
isnt the default youtube app have a option to play HD in 3g network?
I tried HD on 3G with the default app it only plays it back as HQ..but HD on wifi works, that's why I installed the modded app coz there's an option that you tick under advanced settings to playback HD on 3G/4G

Today the sound stopped working on the Youtube app on my US Cellular tp2. I've had the phone since November and it's never done this before. The sound works for everything else. Any idea what could be causing this?

Did you restart the phone? And otherwise try to install a new version of youtube
I've restarded the phone and that didn't do anything. I've also installed different versions of the youtube app but none of them have had nearly as good of video quality as the one that came preloaded on the phone.
Bump
I downloaded a fix for the sound and that fixed it. My only problem now is that the shortcut in the start menu doesn't launch youtube because I installed different versions of the app. I copied and pasted the youtube file from the windows directory into the start menu folder but no luck.
Nevermind I got it figured out. I copied the wrong youtube file to the start menu.
I have recently started to have problems with my youtube app. Either I will have no sound for some videos or I get static. The thing is, the sound works just find if I watch youtube videos in opera 10. Could you link me to the youtube app area?
im having the same issue. any solutions?
Is anyone else getting this problem.
If i open the youtube app its fine, i can search, play videos ect.. everythings fine but when i hit the my account button to se the channels ive subscribed to it pops up with there is no network connection right now try again later. But there is a network, ive tried over 3g/H & wifi and i can play videos but i can access my account, keeps saying no metwork connection, ive even logged out restartee the phone logged in, used the internet on my phone to make sure its 100% getting a signal and i still get tue same problem, i can access my youtube account, the apps fine for viewing videos but it wont go into the my account
Im using my googlemail account as the sign in for youtube btw.
Anyone ideas on if its a problem with the phone or a problem on youtubes end?.

Hmmm... I've noticed this since this morning. HTC Desire 2.2 on O2
I'm also having trouble signing into Google Reader.
Is there some network issue to Google?
I dont want to hard rest my phone if the problems not on the uandset but with google or youtube, as they will probarly patch it in a day or two, but if im the only one getting it its probarly a corruption with the youtube app which will need a reset.
Like i said the app itself is working fine, i can search, play videos ect...
But ushally when i open the app it has a few sections, subscription updates, recomended for you, most viewed ect... well the subscription updates section isnt there, so i click menu and then my account & the page changes with my details, how many channels im subscribed to, favorites ect.. then after a few seconds it flags up with theres no network connection right now, try again later?
I even went into the m.youtube mobile site to see if there might be a problem with my account details but it logged in to the mobile site fine and loaded my subs and played fine. Its just not working via the app

The problem must have been at youtube/googles end as it seems to be working again now

i have this app and havent used it in a while, i tried to listen today and noticed that app loads but the radio wont stream. when i tap the screen to load it, it buffers and then displays the big white square for stopping. i am running CM7. does anyone know of a fix or having the same issue??
i read online that if i connected to wifi it would work and then if i turned off wifi it would still stream from 3/4g but i dont have a wifi connection here and that kind of defeats the purpose when trying to listen on the road.
i guess its broken on GB, podcast still work though.
sounds like your hosts file is interupting. Do you have adfree installed? If so, in the app hit "revert"

Yes I do have adfree installed.let me try hitting the revert button.
Edit: I hit revert but I still get the same issue with the espn app...

Same issue for me...I was pretty disappointed in this app, especially when I realized TuneIn Radio has my local espn station and several others, while all the podcasts are free anyways on listen or online haha.
Hi, question...
Is there a way to set Youtube to stream at 320p, cause by default it picks the HD option, i have terribly slow internet at home so it takes forever to load

You're talking about the YouTube app, right? Go to settings, general and look at the box that says "High quality on mobile". If it's unchecked, leave it that way. If not, uncheck it. Basically, it will start videos in their default lowest quality.
You mean 360p/480p? But yeah, uncheck the option as stated. If not, uncheck it at the start of every video.

Thanks for the reply guys but i've already unchecked that option, and soon as i open a video the hd icon on the left side still lights up
any other way? Youtube options are extremely limited
That's strange. I don't know of any other setting to correct that. Perhaps try, clearing the cache and user data, uninstalling all updates and reinstall them. If nothing works, then just uncheck the HQ or HD box at the start of every video.

I gave up on the youtube app, even if i deselect the HD option it still loads painfully slow, right now i watch youtube through the mobile site using Gnex's browser

You said you are at home, right, are you then on Wi-Fi too?
I wonder if the app knows your on Wi-Fi and defaults to HQ?
For the past few days, Netflix is very choppy in my G Pad 8.3. Stock software with latest version of Netflix app. My WiFi connection is stable and other streaming apps (YouTube HD videos, Crackle) work just fine.
Is anyone else having the same problem? Any tips?
Thanks...

Yes same problem, Google search brought me to this thread. I honestly didn't think it would matter, but I rebooted my G Pad and the stuttering went away!
The lip-sync issue is finally gone since the last Netflix update. Best of all it is now in full HD.
Edit, scratch the full HD comment. I just updated Netflix to the current version and full HD looks to be gone again.
Same problem here too. Reboot didn't seem to help much...
