Emulated Directory - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, after flashing PA based on 4.2 there was a directory added to my phone called Emulated. Inside of it is a folder called legacy. It looks like it's just a copy of my default directory. Anyway, is taking up a lot of space and I was wondering if it is safe to delete this entire directory. Any advice?

[Q] Recreating emulated/0 every time you flash ROM

hey guys i was wondering if there was a way to either consolidate or merge all my emulated/0 files on 4.2.1 ROMs
i was running Illusion by itsmikeramsay and every time i update to the newest version it creates another emulated/0 version to start storing files in..
is anyone else dealing with this and if so any solutions to the this or quick fixes?
also i just switched to Task & Ktoonsez's 4.2.1 ROM and its showing all my camera pictures are there but show up as gray files unless i go view them in root explorer

Update your recovery to prevent new /0 folders.

TWRP 2.3.3.1 personally. Download it through GooManager from the play store.
How would you recommend merging all the folders together from all the other /0's that have been created? Just take what I need out of them and delete them?

Use a file manager to move them where you'd like and delete the empty folders.
I flashed a 4.2 ROM just a little while ago. Its weird...I still have everything in my internal and external. But also have dups in storage folder. in there i have an emulated folder and sdcard1 . Then in emulated I have "0" and legacy folder. And it looks like all the same files.
Also..unless i lost my marbles..looks like my download folder is gone

[Q] Folder Structure Problem..

Hi,
I've been flashing some Custom Roms which have the multi-user feature found in the nexus 7.
And whenever i flash these roms, it creates a new folder called "0" containing many different folders.
I have about 6 or 7 of these folders now and my folder structure is messed up.
Is there a way i can fix all this?
Thanks in advance.
This happens on 4.2 ROMs. Not sure on the specifics but apparently its the way the new file system works.
It transfers all the files normally under SD to a folder called SD/0 as you found.
What I've been doing is just cutting and pasting all the folders inside the folder 0 back onto the root of the SD card lol.
Not sure if there is a better method

[Q] TB from 4.1 to 4.2

I use Titanium Backup to save and load all my apps when I flash a new ROM. I started using a 4.2.1 ROM and wanted to go back to a 4.1 ROM to get the basic Samsung settings. However, when I flash a 4.1 ROM and run TB it says I do not have any files to restore. But then in a 4.2.1 ROM they are there. Is there a way to convert the apps back to 4.1 so they run on an older OS.
Thanks
I could be wrong but I think you have to move the TB files because 4.2 creates the 0 folders

When you went to 4.2 the system moves all your files to the O folder in storage. On 4.1 it's looking for them where they originally where. You can copy and paste everything back to its original location but you can not move them at this point.

Do I just need to move the whole folder to the root of my SD card? Or how do you get rid if the 0 folder?

Could you walk me through how to move the file? I went into my file manager and copied the TB folder and pasted it back on my extSD card. Then I took all the files in the TB folder and copied them into a different folder and named it TB2 and still nothing.
Never mind I found it had to relocate the backup file in the sdcardO folder.

Very little free space

I did a few backups in twrp. Not sure if that's what is causing it. There are a lot of large data files in the miscellaneous tab. Four data.ext4.win and four system.ext4.win. What are these files for? Can I delete any of them?

Those are your backups. They use space on the phone's storage. Connect it to a PC and transfer the files off.
What's the best way to delete twrp backups? It seems like they get saved to 2 spots: \storage\emulated\0\twrp\backup and sdcard/TWRP. Then inside emulated is a copy of sdcard as sdcard0. Where is this emulated thing coming from? I think it's AirDroid. I tried uninstalling AirDroid, and deleting that while tree but I get an error in both root browser apps I use.

Not airdroid...
It's a legacy folder that is added when using CM builds. ..
Do a general search on the subject. ..and you'll find the full explanation for the "O" folder. ..g

[Q] Recovering 'hidden' photos after wipe

Hey XDA!
I have a quick question about recovering a 'hidden' folder that I can't find.
I recently just wiped my device and installed a new ROM with Philz Touch Recovery.
I looked through my photos and I can't find a special folder I had 'hidden.'
There's no option to 'show hidden content'
Is there any other place I can look? I backed up that particular DCIM folder from internal memory to my computer.
Then after I couldn't find the hidden folder in phone, I replaced the old DCIM folder to my phone's memory.. STILL can't find it.
Any help is appreciate at this point..
Thanks again!
Root explorer will show hidden files

Files made hidden by the stock gallery app will still stay in the DCIM folder, right?

I'm not 100 percent sure, but i think so. I don't use the stock gallery so i am not sure. But usually natural linux hidden attributes is simply adding a period to the beginning of the file or folder.

Omg I found it lol, so basically I made a random folder then hid it. Plugged it into my computer to find the folder name.
Of course with the option to view hidden files and folders.
Saw the folder I was looking for and opened file location. It's stored in:
Phone > Internal Storage > .hide > folder name
Thanks for your help, though.
