I've tried Lifeless v9 and v10 using TWRP and after the phone boots up and scans the media, none of my media players find music or videos. I've tried the native lg app and the apollo app included in the rom, but no cigar. If I use file manager to find the individual file it will play just fine, but the apps themselves don't recognize the media.
I'm certainly no developer but I'f flashed quite a few custom roms over quite a few devices and never run into this. Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Doesn't a flash erase your phone because there is no sd card?
Open the gallery excluder app. Uncheck your folders...

Thanks! I had reflashed Lifeless several times after that without installing the Gallery Excluder app, so I didn't even think about it, but that was the problem.

Hi, I have cleared data for "media store" app in app manager, now the music app is showing no media.
Why I did it, because I could not find some music files in music app after the 1.29. update though they were still there as mp3 files in the storage (also I have PowerAmp and it has no issues) I have restarted the device, but it did not help, also tried by activating USB mode to disc drive then back to storage again considering with this could work as mount/unmount and does the trick, but no success. I do not want to do a hardreset if it is avoidable as well.
Is there a way to force HTC music app to rescan storage for media files?

Download extended controls and you can have a toggle that forces a media scan.

You might also find a dedicated app in the market.. search for 'media rescan' and use the one that works best for you.

have tried with 4 different apps from market but none of them solved the matter. There is not a such option in the music app, actually no "settings" at all.

There's no command that I know of in the menus. You might need root to run it? But I doubt that.
Android should rescan every now and then.
You could also try clearing the media players cache.
also.. Power amp has this feature buildt in

I know, hv been using Poweramp since earlier, it is awesome, no any such issues with it. Also hv tried with clearing cache and data for music app too, no success. More interestingly, have also applied reset to factory settings, but still same. I think the only thing left to do, hard reset from boot menu, it will wipe everything.
Any other suggestion? before doing that are more than welcome.

just a thought, how about moving your mp3s to another folder using a file manager on the phone and reboot, it may pick them up that way
Yes, it did the trick.. not renaming the music folder or moving to another place using folder explorer app in the phone but created a brand new folder when connected to windows pc as storage and moved all my mp3s into this new folder, and finally it worked, thanks for the tip mate, it was so easy

even creating a new folder didnt solve the problem for me. seriously guys any way to solve this issue?
ROM Manager has been updated to correct a bug many of us were experiencing today regarding media on internal storage. For those who did not know, this was the cause and has been corrected. Everyone should update ROM Manager.

The update didn't work for me. Where should i manually modify files to implement a fix?

I can confirm that the new update does not fix the problem. ( 5.0.1.4 )
Go delete the .nomedia file from the root of the SD and check in android/data, there may be another one. If there is, delete it as well, update ROM Manager, wipe the media storage data, reboot, profit. Worked perfectly for me.
I reboot twice afterwards just to make sure, and all is well again.

+1 did the exact same thing
This almost worked for me. I deleted the nomedia file from root SD and there wasn't anymore to be found. It took a bit longer for sounds and pictures to be seen again, however the native music app does not see any music. Yet I can find it using astro file manager. Any ideas?

Trying clearing the data of the music app and reboot.
Don't have an option for that. Unless you mean to remove my music directory and then re-add it. 'Play Music' has no options to clear or perform any setting without a song actually selected. And currently it just offers a button to click to teach me how to pit music via USB.

Not in the app itself of course...
Go to settings and find the app in the app list and click it. You will then get the option to clear data.
Ah yes forgot about that. Been awhile since I've had to think about that. Worked like a charm. Thanks all.

clear Media Storage data, reboot, and then wait until Music and Gallery refreshes all the pictures and musics. Oh btw, clearing media storage resets your ringtone very annoying for me...

It worked for me this morning. Try deleting any .nomedia files on your SDCard.
I suggest using quickpic instead

I am having an issue probably not rom related where my music player wont find any songs. I accidently deleted the Music folder on my android. I quickly replace it with the same exact name Music in the same exact spot and added my music back into it. Now it wont appear.
In application manager clear data and force stop. Then open the app again. It should rescan for your music.

Didnt work man. Still same old songs and no new ones being added. Ive tried all the sd rescan apps still nothing. About to do a full restore really getting annoyed.
reset. wipe everything.
Two other things you can try first. Find Media Storage in app manager and clear data there.
Try putting the music folder elsewhere and rename it music2 or something. May scan the new folder...
Otherwise, yeah, probably factory reset is the best bet.

One question do you have a sdcard ?
If so make a folder called music on your sdcard from your computer and place the music files in there and you should see your files then.

Im currently on the Rooted Stock FC09 rom and ive been having a problem with my music players not recognizing any music on the EX SD.. I also noticed on reboot that media scanner is not reading the EX SD.. Ive checked for the " nomedia" folder and did not see one..
Ive searched several posts, and havent found anything to help yet..
This happened to me once before.... basically your phone does not ever scan for media on sd card right? I don't think I found a way to actually "fix" it but I was told to try an app called media scanner (or something like that). It didn't help me but you can try it. If it doesn't work I think u may need a new rom or reflash.

The .nomedia can be a hidden file. Make sure your file explorer is set to see hidden files. View it on a computer if possible.
