Hello,
I'm new to rooting/modding/roms, and I wanna install the awesome Ultimate HD rom on my locked, unrooted Xperia Arc LT15i:
Gingerbread
Android Version: 2.3.4
Build: 4.0.2
I don't know where to start.
The page of the Ultimate HD rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207) says:
- For Unlocked Bootloaders: Flash the Recomnend Kernels; Adv. Stock Kernel
- For Locked Bootloaders: Root your phone using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683957
I don't think I gotta start with this page ^
I wanna unlock the bootloader, that's step 1 I think (via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034087)
But what's the best way to root and make my Arc ready to install the Ultimate HD rom?
I saw some pages like this about rooting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133650 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874801
But I don't know which one is good and which Kernel I gotta use to go from:
Xperia Arc unrooted 2.3.4, 4.0.2
to
rooted, unlocked with the Adv. Stock kernel Ultimate HD rom.
Do I have to install the official ICS update first on my Arc?
(Sorry if this is the wrong section for this topic/question but I don't know exactly where to post it, I'm new here)

Where or how can I find stock ROM for Arc S? Or what do I have to do to get it back?
I have unlocked and rooted my device and tried another ROM but I think I have to stick with the stock one..
Any information you need from me, kernel?, baseband or anything?
Thanks
Flashed another ROM and now my Arc runs smooth, so forget about #1
Hello.
I Have my Arc S LT18i rooted and have the Ice Beam rom installed. Now i want to overclock my 1.4 GHZ CPU.
I Use SetXperia. However I get me bar no further than 1.4 GHZ. What am I doing wrong? I have given the app SuperUser permssion.
Thanks!
What kernel are you using?
Hmmm,
I have actually really no idea.
The only thing I have used is the following method and then the 3rd post.
And then the Arc S kernel. I then installed the Ice Beam ROM on here.

this tutorial is for 4.1.B.0.587 only!
1) flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel http://www.mediafire.com/?twn09p8ekug46f7 (thanks to sathurnn)
note: you might get errors after the reboot, don't worry, this is normal and step 3 will fix that.
2) root your Arc/s with DooMLoRD's tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1601038
3) flash the 4.1.B.0.587 kernel
Arc kernel only:

Arc S kernel only:
http://i.minus.com/1345808607/vsMMtn...ernel_only.ftf
Thanks, that's all that I know.
You need a kernel that's overclockable, and one that's for your FW.
Thanks. I know enough.
Good afternoon!
Since I locked bootloader (bootloader unlook: NO), and as yet there is no way to unlock.
Is there any alternative rom, better than the original that can be installed through flashtools?
You can only install official ROMs on locked boot loader devices
Sent from my Xperia S using xda premium
Official based roms. There are quite a few in the development forum
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
try KA´s ROMS ... im now using KA08 GB because of gta vice city and its very smoth
XTXperience, Xperia SSpeed are stock based roms, you can install them using root + CWM. You can check some guides to root your phone and install a CWM recovery in the development forum.

hahahahaha your asking for the perfect rom wich is not been created yet lol
i would recomend you follow attacks post for the step by steps
but for gaming i would probably go with Cola Rom as it is the fastest rom for gaming and probably doomkernel for your kernel.
and for jellybean rom i would go with Slimbean...well thats my thoughts... hoped it helped

Is doomkernel good for 2.3.3? I've tried Lupus GBv11 it works but the wifi is only functional on 2.3.4 I've tried hatcyl's 2.3.3 kernel with 1.6 overclock which just causes my play to bootloop and act crazy. Whats the best kernel available to 2.3.3? From what I can tell the bulk of custom ROMS are based off 2.3.3. Aside from Lupus' GBv11 kernel wifi problem with 2.3.3 it worked perfectly. So a good custom ROM based off 2.3.4 might be an alternative, any suggestions?

Doomkernel v2 is the best kernel that I have used. I run it at 1.2ghz smartassv2 and sio. You also have to flash wifi modules that come with it. I've never had problems with it. Debloated stock 2.3.3 or my Zeuscnxtlite(Stock 2.3.3) rom gets me 300mb free ram on average.
Since Download links are down for doomLord, here are the files.

Hi, I have a rooted xperia arc s (ics 4.0.4 [4.1.B.0.587]) i rooted it using the following guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711
and my bootloader is locked. so my question is that can I flash custom roms without unlocking unlocking my bootloader, and if I can then how? or if I can't then how can i solve the problem?
please make your answer noob-friendly.
thank you in advance
I think you can install rom specifically made okay with locked bootloader try see development threads
you can't install custom kernel with locked bootloader through afaik
sent from the State where marijuana is not illegal
You can install Stock based ROMs such as Ultimate HD (most famous ICS custom ROM) or any other Ice Cream Sandwich based ROM. This means you can't install Jelly Bean, but look on the dev forums for [ICS] or [.587], there are a lot that even do have the jellybean statusbar and stuff like that. :3
