[Q] Need help restoring from default JB backup - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Well, hi there. It seems I'm stuck trying to restore app data from a backup created with Galaxy Nexus toolkit. I believe it uses "default" JB backup method, described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420351
Well, how it all went. I made app backup using the Toolkit, all data boiling down to a 2.8 Gb .bak file
I unlocked and rooted my phone (after more than a year on stock ICS and JB), installed recovery, flashed last nightly build of CM 10 (I've had some good experience with earlier iteratons previously). After that I tried to resotre from the said backup, using the toolkit. I've got the dialog window all rigth, confirmed restoration etc. After that CM boot animation appeared on the screen for a minute or so and than an error message stating that Settings app has terminated unexpectedly. No app data restored. I tried that a couple of times more with same result.
What is a problem here? Can I restore something from that .bak file and how? Should I save the image of my current CM ROM, flash stock JB and try restoring with it?

[Q] [Help] Nandroid Fail

This isn't like some of the other nandroid fail threads i've encountered.
I had a full nandroid backup of my tmobile g2 (eng hboot) and I lost that device. I got an exact replacement, rooted it (no eng hboot), installed rom manager only and flashed clockwork. I then copied my nandroid backup to the clockwork/backups directory and did a restore.
The phone booted successfully with cyanogen 7 nightly 22 flashed but the only problem is that it seems to have done a fresh install...as in there are no apps, no data, just cyanogen 7 nightly 22. It appears it didn't restore anything except the rom itself. Any ideas? thanks in advance.
ps. ive done multiple data wipes, and tried 2 different nandroid backup files on the new phone.
Did you have darktremors a2sd installed on the old ROM? CWM3 seems to have an issue for some with seeing the sd-ext partition and won't back it up. So when you select 'restore' in CWM it *successfully* completes the nandroid restore correct, no errors? It would be odd for it to give you a 'restore complete' message if it ran into any errors.
pretty sure I don't have a2sd installed on the old rom. first time i'm hearing of it. I don't recall getting any errors after restoring the backup but I will try again and double check. I also have much older backups that I can try to restore and see if those go through
Well I think this needs more attention if it's really not restoring the nandroids fully. Seems like it's restoring the system.img and whatnot just not the data.img. Maybe try it with ADB and see if it works. I've never had to do it that way but I know it can be done, you may have to run it in a shell.
I tried restoring a nandroid backup from February, which I believe was backed up with an older version of clockwork, and it was completely successful. This tells me that either the new clockwork is not backing up correctly or it's getting corrupted.
I then tried restoring 3 different backups and they did not give me any errors but failed to restore my data. hmmm

[Q] Google services framework stopped after nandroid restore.

Hi,
After rooting and trying some ROM's out i wanted to go back to an 'old' ROM from which I had a nandroid backup. It went smooth the first time but the second time I got a error saying that Google services framework stopped working.
Only the stock app worked and none of my other installed apps did.
I couldn't even open the settings menu nor could i open Titanium backup.
I then reflashed the ROM and manually copied some TB backup folders but lost all other data.
Someone has an idea about this?

Still no fix?...
try re-flashing recovery and then do the restore again. If you don't know how check the guide in my link.

Help, google boot loop, can't flash any roms

Just flashed the new AOKP milestone 2 yesterday. It was working fine until this morning when it spontaneously went into the google logo boot loop. Went into CMR and deleted data/cache, tried to reflash any roms. Starts to flash the rom but quits after giving an "offset xxxxx" error. Reboot gets the boot loop again. Please help.
Hey
Search on here for roms to flash using Odin or adb/fastboot.
Your phone is grand you just need to flash a stock rom using one of the above methods. Then you can re-root and apply your roms again
Good luck!
Yes. As above you need to find stock images and flash in fast boot.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yeah, I just flashed the stock rom using fastboot yesterday. Can't do that on my computer at work. Another thing is that the restore using CWM doesn't seem to work for me. Backs up fine but I get an error at the end of the restore process(forget the exact error right now).
Not looking forward to restoring all my data and apps again for the third time in the past two days. I hate how it's difficult to using Titanium Backup to restore since the internal SD card is erased. I did back up to dropbox, but the restore only restored 6 apps from there. Ugh. Any way to transfer my backup files off the phone in CWM to my computer? Thanks
I use appmanager (team android) for backup. It lets you back up all apps, then you can copy the backup folder onto your computer. Then once you rebuild your phone, install appmanager again and copy over the backup folder. Some roms have the auto restore feature which installs all your apps once you sign into your Google account on the phone. I hate when these things happen, restoring apps is always a pain. Best of luck anyway.

[Q] CWM Not Recovering

I decided to peek at the newest Cayanogenmod from my stock (but rooted) Gnex toro. I made a quick nandroid backup so that I could revert back to my previous image when I was done peeking. However, android 4.2.1 (Cyanogenmod 10.1) seems to have rearranged the file system a bit, so I had to figure out how to get CWM to work with it.
Once I did that, I tried restoring my image. It stopped restoring giving the error "error restoring /system". I did some googling and found that sometimes you need the right version of CWM, and you need to be on the same android version. So I reverted back to sock 4.1.1, rerooted (using CWM and su.zip method), and flashed CWM from the recovery.img of my backup. When I tried restoring the backup again, the same thing happened. It's got something to do with my backup, because I made a new backup of my phone as it is now and it restored without a problem.
I also cannot run ADB as root, getting the error "adbd cannot be run as root on production builds". I don't know whether that is related to the problem described above (if not than ignore this paragraph).
I have attached the log file (renamed the extension so it would let me upload it). Any help is greatly appreciated and I will be sure to use the thanks button.

[Q] Can't restore /data after 4.3 update

Hello!
I'm in a bit of panic. Since Google pushes their stuff over OTA and my custom rom PAC somehow didn't deal with that correctly, it caused to use all my data, so I wanted to give stock 4.3 a try.
Rebooted into CWM, made a backup of my current ROM, free unused backup data, did a factory reset like always and flashed the 4.3 image. Wasn't happy at all with stock 4.3 so I wanted to go back. To my horror, restoring that image failed. Error while restoring /data!. I tried booting up anyway, maybe only a few settings were lost, but it started like the first time I flashed the ROM with the gapps log-in thing and all my apps are gone.
I tried getting back in CWM, manually restored /data, but that didn't work either. It starts restoring /data but then halfway through it stops with the error.
Previous backups (AOKP/CM/PAC) didn't restore /data either.
Installing Nandroid Manager to restore individual apps to a fresh ROM fails too. It sees all apps but it can't restore anything at all.
I have come to the discovery that apps won't even install. Apps manually extracted from the backups are 0kb and I can't seem to install some apps from the Play Store either. Unknown error code during application install: "-24"
Does 4.3 change anything about where the /data partition is? Or what happened?
What's the problem and can I even restore the data? Or do I have to start over?

have the same story with galaxy note 2..
Flash backwards first
not an expert here, but isnt the general protocol to try to flash back to the same version of the os first (i.e 4.2.2), and then try the CWM restore?
Are you able to try to track down the same os version you had before?
Have the same issue with my i717

I flashed back to 4.2.2 and then tried restore, but no luck. It gave me the same error (Error while restoring /data).
