Seidio Surface Convert case - Galaxy S III Accessories

Just got this for my GS3 and absolutely love the case. Bulk wise it is about the same as an otterbox defender but not quite as heavy. Extremely fast and easy to remove the outer skeleton and silicon cover and leave just the surface case on the phone. My otterbox broke the second time I removed it from my phone. Otterbox replaced it and i promptly returned it to best buy for a refund. I sent the broken one back to otterbox. The holsters belt clip is considerably larger than the otterbox. Good for me because I leave the holster on my toolbelt. The defenders holster would not clip over my toolbelt so it was useless to me. I originally bought the platinum surface case/holster combo from best buy so I have an extra surface case and holster to use. So far i recommend this case, will probably be the last case I buy for my GS3. Purchased from ebay for 32.00

Alternative Otterbox Suggestions

I have had the Otterbox defender on since day one. And it protects great. Today i took it off to swap my battery and remembered how great this phone looks without it. But I'm not one to go unprotected.
I'm looking for suggestions on other cases. Something that protects but necessarily the bulk of the Otterbox. I work a office job so rugged case isn't too necessary.
Must be compatible with the extended battery.
I was looking at the SGP Neo hybrid cases but they say coming soon on the website.
Please share your suggestions. Thanks guys.

Hey, i have the commuter case on for a few days now and i love it. It adds just enough bulk and size to the phone to make is sit and feel perfect in my hand. But everyones hands are different so not all will think its great. I did however order the Neo Hybrid case in Reventon yellow and should have it tomorrow or saturday and ill let you know how it is and feels along with some pics, and possibly a small review.
But so far i LOVE the commuter case. should take a look at it. i wrote up a review but i have to do a few more posts before xda lets me post it lol
I have the Otterbox Defender as well and am surprised at how much I like it... Typically like nothing on my phones but gotta have protection on this beauty...
Just got an Incipio Silicrylic in the mail to try... Definitely less bulk than the Otterbox... You can actually see some of the sexy lines of the Nexus with this case.... The Incipio provides some protection, as it does have at least some hard plastic to it, but not anything close to the Otterbox.. Not sure that my GNex would survive a fall on a hard surface in the Incipio....
Problem with the Incipio is that it will not fit in the Otterbox holster or the Verizon holster that I already have, so probably will go back to the OB Defender...
Anybody interested in making me an offer on a brand new Incipio or Verizon Case & Holder I will listen....
One reason for my Otterbox purchase was the holster. But i have never used it. It's too big to have clipped on my side.
I know no case will protect like the defender but im good with my phones to get a scaled down case. I thought about the commuter but not sure how much size difference there is.
What price you looking at for your incipio?

I watched a review and it said with the extended battery the plastic outer shell just fit tightly against the silicone as it does at the top. Did you notice this?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Fit tight w/extended battery in, but not a problem in my opinion... I would bet it might even loosen up a bit over time...
I like the Incipio's look and feel... Much smaller size than OB, but have to have a holster to carry my GNex..
It doesn't have quite the amount of protection (ie not waterproof) like the defender but soon Ballistic will release their case for the Galaxy Nexus. I have a Galaxy Nexus on the way and will be giving my Nexus S to my wife. My wife is like a phone's worst nightmare. She seems to always be dropping them and my two kids are both under 3 and the oldest loves to snatch our phones. I got the Ballistic case for the Nexus S for her and after putting it on yesterday I'm a believer. I already have it covered completely by Ghost Armor skin, and with the Ballistic case it's just very well protected. The bumpers on the corners are amazing and so is the fit and finish. Makes the phone pretty bulky (not as much as the defender) but it makes the phone much nicer to hold and type on. I would recommend it for the Galaxy Nexus. I have a TPU case on order but will pick up the Galaxy Nexus version Ballistic case too once it is released.

Do you have any quick impressions/pics of the Neo Hybrid? It'll be interesting to see how well it fits the LTE GNex since it was designed for the GSM non-extended battery GNex.
I have the Incipio Silicrylic (aka Double Cover, VZW repackaged). It's a nice case and it fits well on the phone. It doesn't add too much bulk. I like that the hard cover goes around the corners, unlike the Otterbox Commuter. Cutouts for the phone are nice. No need to mess around with clumsy flaps. And the buttons work well under the silicone cover. Great case for less. I got mine at the Verizon store for $20 +tax after a discount. I don't use a holster, but I am looking into getting an XO Skin.
Another alternative that I was initially looking at was the Seidio Surface Combo. It's a hard soft-touch case with a holster, if you need the holster. They also sell it without.

Hard case with a holster or a belt clip (smaller than the Defender)

I am trying to find for a nice hard case, but for me the option to wear the phone on the belt is important. So I am looking for something slimmer than the Otterbox Defender but with more or less the same functionality. I saw a lot of hard cases around and still non offers the combination of a case and a belt clip (other than the Defender - I had it for a couple of days and it is fat to bulky for my taste)
So I am opened for suggestions - please share your information. Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I think you can try some metal case. But the finishing of the metal case on the market can be terrible. Don't try those case listed on EBAY. They are cheap but bad. Thick metal layer and poor finishing. Also they are not as hard as the metal you are used to know.

Thanks for the answer - in my opinion the metal cases do not provide the necessary protection - you need a soft plastic part to absorb the shock of a fall and a hard one to take the initial blow
And the hybrid cases provide really nice protection - but most of them are too bulky. And a belt clip is an important part as well
Here is a case that fits your description. Had one on my inspire for a while And liked it.

The Seidio cases offer what you're looking for. If you don't like the Surface, the Active series would better suit your needs since has the softer cover and the harder shell as well as a holster. There's also a version that comes with a metal kickstand

I had the same case for the s2. Ive been through 2 of them in a months time. The clip will snap off if there is any kind of a harder bump while clipped onto your belt. I would pass on it. Spend a little more money for a nicer case that wont break on ya right away.
Thank you all for the suggestions and comments. So I think I will go in the direction of Seidio - does anyone know the dimensions of the active and the surface cases?
How much bigger is the active case?
I was unable to find the dimensions on the web page
I use this holster http://www.niteize.com/product/Clip-Case-Cargo-Tall.asp and this case http://www.incipio.com/Samsung-Gala...ualPro-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp. The case is thin but protective and the holster is tough and protects the phone.

I had the Seidio surface from Best Buy but 1) It was very slick and would slip out of your hands 2) Didn't have a kickstand. I went with the Seidio active from Versio Mobile.Com and couldn't be happier. It is a 2 part case, isn't that much bigger, or heavier and has the kickstand. Also the entire phone is covered where as with the surface case it didn't. Additionally the cut out for the MICRO/MHL plug is bigger on the active which will enable you to use more charging cables. The hole on the surface case only allowed me to use the Samsung cable.

Case with holster (sorry for another case thread)

Hey everyone,
I am looking for some feedback on this case: http://www.ebay.com/itm/390492036942?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Or point me in a direction of someone who make a case with a holster. I really like the UAG case but I don't want a case and then buy an even bigger holster to put the phone on my side.
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you
imo dont expect top notch quality with those china items.. the Ballistic SG series has holster, the OB defender (imo its ugly) lol..
http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s-3-ballistic-sg-maxx-series-case
I have been through about 6 cases.
I wanted full coverage with a holster. Sadly most cases that offer decent protection add a ton of bulk.
This Ballistic case adds very little bulk. Your phone still feels slim and comfortable. The Otterbox adds way too much bulk and the built-in screen protector is garbage. The Ballistic screen protector is a separate piece and can be left out. It is still not the clearest.
If you want options in a case then go with this:
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-convert-value-pack-black-p/bd5-hkr4ssgs3.htm
It has a hard shell for everyday. Then a silicon surround and plastic exo skeleton.

If you want a great case definitely go with any Seidio case, plus there holsters are top notch and very sturdy! The GS3 otter box defender holster looks to have the same sort of phone-side clip as the incredible s does. It's incredibly fragile and will break off if you look at it funny. I went though 3 of the holsters in a matter of months (their warranty service is top notch at least) before giving up on it and using a commuter case with a pouch holster until I replaced that phone.
I just ordered a seidio extended battery and one of their active cases, so I'll give my opinion of it when it arrives. The clip is an entirely different design.

yeah i read about the fragile clip and about the rubber getting loose in few weeks. Thats the reason i asked for a refund from the seller on ebay. He gave me a full refund, and the next thing I know a week later i received the case in the mail lol.. so got it free basically. Lack of communication on their end i guess. But overall I dont like the case much. I would give the ballistic a try.

What case do you use?

I m on my third otterbox defender case (they send them to you by mail if you have problems). With all of them the outer rubber sleeve has stretched so that it no longer stays in the grooves.
So I am looking for a new case. I could use some suggestions.
Thanks.

Urban Armor Gear. By far the best case for the GS3 if you are looking for protection without adding thickness to the phone. You can find about 1,250 posts regarding this case here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826668

Seidio ACTIVE with kickstand
This Seidio case is the one I use. I've dropped it several times, and it has a few nicks and scuffs on it. Love it, though, as it is very durable, and seems to maintain its fit very well.
Also, the white/black case looks really nice with my white SGS3.
I use an Aduro hardshell case with kickstand, it's awesome. I've dropped it plenty of times and not a scratch on it!
Do you use any cleaners on your Defender? I have run into problems with using plastic cleaners (even good ones like Plexus!) with some phone cases where it allows it to become too soft and stretches it.

Me too. I even somehow cracked the shell part and they sent me a new one. I haven't opened it yet.
Stretched out cases are a problem in the materials i think. I've saw it on my Captivate, Inspire, and now S3. But they keep replacing, so I'll keep using. I haven't really saw or heard of a sturdier case, short of the new Armor series.
i've always used case-mate's "tough case" on my galaxy phones. great protection while still remaining slim. also, otterbox has the new reflex case. i would recommend that one as well. slim and tough. you can find both on amazon for around $20. cheers
case-mate tough case: http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-Cases/Case-Mate-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-Tough-Cases.asp

Commuter in black, Commuter in white, and Spigen Ultra Thin Air...
Otterbox Defender. Since they replace it once it stretches out with no problems I will continue to use it.
My defender silicon case has stretched out before. I simply placed in boiling water (OFF THE BURNER) for exactly thirty seconds. Remove it with tongs and quickly, yet gently dry it off. Mold it to the plastic case and place it in the fridge to cool.
Perform at your own risk. Your experience may vary.
I use the Urban Armor Gear. It is the best case IMO. I had the Otterbox Commuter, and the CaseMate Pop! Nothing beats the Urban Armor Gear. I love how it makes the phone square and flat and not curved. And idk why, but it makes my screen look bigger. It looks huge and bulky in the product photos but it's really thin.
I'm using a Trident Kraken. I love it more than my Defender.

Currently running a black Incipio silicrylic. Yesterday I purchased a black UAG based on the reviews of it and it should be here tomorrow.
I use a Seidio Surface case and love it. It's a hard shell, but not so thick that it can't be used in some docks. Soft-touch coating so it's easy to grip. And it has cutouts around the buttons (I like using the actual buttons on the phone, not the crappy ones that most cases include). The only downside is it's TOUGH to get off if you don't know the trick (apparently, I can't vouch for that since I STILL can't do it easily).
http://www.seidioonline.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-surface-case-black-p/csr3ssgs3-bk.htm
I have the defender as well. I also notice the rubber stretching a little bit. Once it gets a little more noticeable I will ask otterbox to replace it. They have great customer service. I experienced this with the galaxy nexus defender case as well. They sent me 3 replacements before I gave up and settled with the commuter for the nexus.
So long as they continue to send replacements, I'll continue to take advantage of it. Personal opinion they should really make the rubber last longer. My defender for my captivate lasted almost two years before I replaced the phone. The case still fits perfect to this day. Something happened within the last few years with otterboxs rubber casing for the defender. Whatever they have changed since the captivate has not worked out very well.

Help with case

Hi, i wanna buy a case for the s3,
i'm Debating between 3 case,
1.speck candy shell
2.otterbox
3.Case Mate Tough
I'd like to hear the Advantages and Disadvantages of each
tnx!
I have owned the otterbox defender and the commuter series. I am much happier with the commuter. It has a dual layer and the exposed layer is hard which I like better because the defender series had a soft shell that streched out and looked bad. Plus the commuter series is much smaller. It feels less bulky and mire high end.

I am assuming you have already looked at the UAG case. If not, definitely check it out. I have a few friends that switched from Otterbox to the UAG and they love it. Good luck
no, i didn't hear about UGA
but he looks a very "massive" case and uncomfortable to carry the s3, put hin in the pocket etc
Not the case at all.
Not nearly as bulky as you'd think, and slides easily in and out of your pocket.
Great protection as well.
Does it have to be drop protection case?
Ive had quite a few. My fav as of now is the zoogue tpu, seidio surface, podera transformer case
