I was wondering if anyone was trying to adopt some of xperiacles work on the original GN concerning tablet ui and floating/re-sizable
apps on the GN2.
Here is a link where there are nice videos in the OP. (Check out TW Tabletui)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056515
While it is not quite clear if the table ui will work on GN2 due to its dimensions, having pop-up re-sizable apps like calendar and phone as shown in video would be nice!

Hi there,
i see a lot of thread with lists of must-have apps for Android. But what about must-have apps optimized for Android 4.0 (or 3.0) ?
You know, the ones using the native Action Bar (no menu button in the Navigation Bar), Holo themes and following the awesome new design guidelines ?
For now, i've just found Dropbox, and some of Google's apps (Reader and Earth for exemple).
Do you have some more ? I'ld love to see a nice and simple file manager for exemple.
Root Explorer is ICS optimized and works great

I have just been thinking about this too.
Due Today is ICS optimised and looks great.
BeyondPod is not quite there yet. Recent updates mean that the now playing screen look very nice but the other screens still need work and the settings are still in the wrong place.
Thanks!
I tested both free versions of Due Today and Root Explorer, and none of them are using the Holo theme nor Action Bar (for exemple). Maybe the paid version are.
Actually, even some Google Apps aren't really ICS optimized (Google Navigation and Google Goggles for exemple), which is kinda disappointing.
Dropbox, Gigbeat, MX Video Player, SmartPhone, Ultimate Stopwatch
there's also podkicker to check out for podcasts

Reddit is fun is starting to use the ICS theme
Netflix is. It hides the nav buttons. Not in terms of UI though if that's what you mean.
Bacon Reader for Reddit has a nice interface that is ICS-ish
Yup, i was talking about UI mainly, but those kind of compatibility are welcome (but sadly no Netflix here in France).
Just tested Gigbeat (already awesome on Gingerbread) and MX Video Player : that's exactly what i'm looking for, thanks!
I'll try to update the first post with those apps.
Sweet

We point out that the only owners of a Samsung Galaxy S3 is available from Video Maker 2.0 yesterday.
The software can be downloaded from the link Other services, a small store that contains the app exclusively dedicated to the new flagship Android.
Video Maker is a simple video editing application designed specifically for Samsung by its users.
Through a fairly intuitive interface, you can create movies starting from video files already present on the phone or taken directly from the camera.
The user can then add themes, audio, title, or even some particular effect.
Everything can then be exported in various formats, including the 1280 × 720.
Video Maker 2.0 available for all owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3
Although there are many functions, given the lack of apps like this in the Android Market, Video Maker can still be useful for simple video editing.
But where's download it?
EDIT: ALL OK CATCH IT

Bad if you already deleted the Samsung Apps - you first need to register your phone I'm sure there's better software. And a better place to post this question. Q/A?

Well, it's not really a leak since the source is available - the XBMC guys have chosen not to make an APK available yet because it's not complete (lack of hardware accelerated video playback comes to mind). Anyway, the APK is from here: https://www.miniand.com/forums/forums/1/topics/136. It may be worth looking there from time to time as they say they plan to keep the APK updated.
Interesting. Wonder if the skins work like the linux version

So far iv only used 3 skins, 2 work perfect and the 3rd also works but there are some menus you cant assess like when you press left arrow on remote/keys.
Its not playing my MP3 over WIFI but it plays Videos in MKV and other file formats with sound but low FPS,
Movies,Pictures and most other things work fine when played from the SDcard/stick
UI is very small but usable.
Looks very promising

Im finding the menu issue is present with my favourite skin... Neon. Although I can get the sideways ones to pop out sometimes. I eventually managed to get the movies into slide view.... After lots of swiping and button pressing. I still dont know what made it pop out. Havent managed to get the to pop up when the view menu is at the bottom though so I cant get out of slide view.
All my mkvs etc play awesome straight from my network drive smooth as hell looking great

Crashes
Anybody else tried playing with this?
I had an old version that ran, but after downloading the nightlies lately, non of them run, they crash with an error that they can not load libxbmc.so, I checked the app libs folder and it is present and non-zero but it still doesn't load.
Anyone have any idea why?
My GS3 is stock, rooted 4.0.4 (BLG8).

You can subscribe to the main XBMC post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813089
For SGS3 you have to download NEON version
Cya!
(skip down to "Questions" if you're in a rush)
Gentlemen,
I have a GNex that I no longer use for phone duty (was replaced with Nexus 4), and am contemplating converting it to a steamer tv box (a la Google TV).
I have a MHL adapter coming today, and I have the portrait-orientation dock as well. Shameful display from Samsung for making mirroring not work past 4.0.3 with the dock, thus a 3rd party MHL adapter is now needed. I have diNovo Mini on controller duty.
I did some testing (GNex on 4.0.2 + Samsung Dock) on a 22" 1080p monitor, and everything just looked huge and bad and blurry with the factory ROM. I installed the latest build of ParanoidAndroid, put the phone in Tablet mode, and shrunk everything as small as it will go. Couldn't test it with the monitor (Dock doesn't mirror with JB) yet, but at least on the device screen, things look more favorable.
Questions --
1 - Is there a recommended ROM for this (other than Paranoid) that will let me Tablet/Phablet layout + scale elements to not look like hell blown up to a 42" 1080p screen ?
2a - Are there any useful media apps I should know about (other than XBMC, Netflix, TV.com, Streamie) ?
2b - Are there any useful utility apps I should know about (other than Sixaxis Controller) ?
3 - Is there a better launcher than stock for this use? (I tried TVLauncher and didn't care for it).
4 - Or, forget about the whole thing and wait for my OUYA to show up in March?
Thanks.
iMediaShare has lots of channels and content for streaming.
Ubuntu comes out soon, you could run XBMC through that and have more control of the UI. I believe Ubuntu goes to a full desktop mode so it'll look good on a monitor/large display.
This would also allow for more powerful remote desktop use too.
I was under the impression that it only mirrors the output, so you need something like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934495 to proceed.
You don't really need full Panadroid, just a DPI change to force tablet mode all the time.
Any one heard of a way to make Adapt Sound work globally yet? It is odd to me that I haven't seen any work done on this. It has been one of the more frustrating aspects of my new S4: that all these cool new features that samsung developed only work with their ****ty native apps. Any word on making Adapt (or any of the other samsung features for that matter) global (ie working things like Google Play Music, winamp, etc) would be FANTASTIC!
